  • "The property was comfortable and in a lovely, friendly village."

Off road parking was a bonus. The wifi was good, the cottage was very good for the price and we were so happy it was dog friendly. We had a great holiday. The parking is a bit tight to get into which could be mentioned on the listing. There were issues that should be raised with the cleaning team. We found the microwave was unclean on arrival, dust/cobwebs in the bathroom and bedrooms, and the floor needed a clean (pictures available if requested by the owner). The rolling pin was mouldy due to damp (not that I used it, but it just gave a feeling of not really being ‘looked after’). The bedding smelt damp in the bedroom.

The cottage was equipped with everything we needed and on arrival there was a beautiful scent to greet us.The only thing I would say is there needs to be more attention on the dusting and cobb webbing,as some areas had been missed, but overall it was lovely and we would definitely stay again.

hi, thank you for feedback an we're glad that you had a good time. We will pass on your comments regarding cobwebs/dusting to our Cleaning Team. Property Owner

  • "Lovely cottage in a great quiet location."

We felt at home immediately. We only used the main bedroom which was a great size and the bed was really comfortable. The kitchen was good and the shower excellent. We don't have any negatives but I think the grassed area at the back which belongs to another cottage should have a fence at the top of the stairs so that we could open the back door without having to put our dog on a lead. It was a very hot week so this would have been useful. We have already booked for Christmas.

Thank you for your lovely review. We are glad you liked the cottage. Regarding your idea about a gate, funnily enough we were talking about this a few weeks ago and will now try and sort something out. So pleased you are coming back for Christmas. Maxine and Tim Property Owner

  • "The property is in a lovely quiet little village with a pub and a shop which is great and some lovely walks close by."

There’s just a few things that could be improved on: On arrival at the property there is a little front terrace which was full of weeds and the seating area which is behind the parking bay was also full of weeds, so could do with a bit of gardening. There’s was a smell of dampness all way through the house which may need looking at. There was no plug for the kitchen sink so it meant having to wash the pots in a very small bowl and was only able to fit one plate in at a time not really convenient when you are a family of 4 and there are lots of pots to wash. We found that the cleanliness of the property wasn’t great either lots of cobwebs in most of the corners of the property and the mantle piece was full of dust. The freezer hadn’t been cleaned out either as there was bits of food crumbs from previous guests. Overall nice property just needs attention to detail.

Thank you for your comments. Firstly, apologies that the plug had gone missing. This has been remedied. The changeover team have been notified of the cobweb and the crumb. Our neighbour sent us pictures of the garden area which didn't look particularly overgrown. It is very rustic in Penmachno and a few weeds encourage bees and other insects. Spoken to guests who stayed after you and, thankfully, no smells of damp were noted by them. Agree that Penmachno is a lovely village and there plenty of places to stay there should you visit the area again. Property Owner

  • "Great quaint modernised cottage in a peaceful location."

Would recommend the cottage and would stay again however did notice the cleanliness wasn’t as I would have expected. Sweet papers under couch, very dusty behind beds. Wouldn’t put me off rebooking but the extra attention to cleanliness should be taken onboard.

Thank you for your feedback. We apologise for the sweet papers. We were rather alarmed by your comment about behind the beds being "very dusty" and, after driving for 2 and half hours to check the property, we feel this was very much an over-exaggeration. Nevertheless, our changeover team have been informed. Tim and Maxine Property Owner

  • "Very cosy, clean, and well equipped little cottage, just enough for a family of 4 (two adults, two children)."

The only downside is a lack of enclosed garden, a place where you could sit and relax with a cup of tea/coffee and enjoy the sun. However, if you’re out for the day and only come back in the evening, it wouldn't matter, I guess.

Thank you for your comments. We are glad you liked the cottage. Property Owner

  • "Lovely cottage in an excellent location."

Small, but well designed to make maximum use of the space available. Small things could have improved the kitchen, however, as there was a lack of child-friendly cutlery or drinking ware, or small saucepans. Also, while we found the compressed logs made pretty flames and didn't interrupt the central heating, it would have been good to know where wood might be found (like in the photo!) in the event of a longer power cut than we had.

  • "A lovely little cottage in a small no through road with off road parking."

So, it was very peaceful, no road noise. Penmachno is a small village well of the main roads but with easy access. Bwthym Cwm was well equipped, beautifully & tastefully furnished & decorated. It was spotlessly clean and comfortable. There was a village shop near by that was well stocked and welcoming. (You could buy all your needs here, supporting local business). There was also a pub doing meals Fridays & Saturdays bit as it was Christmas week, we did not get to experience this. As it was Christmas the village was beautifully decorated. Everyone had gone to so much trouble making the village pretty. We explored much of the village on foot as well as driving further afield. We visited parts of N Wales we have never explored before. The time back roads, some forest tracks, the roman bridge, Conwy falls and most interesting the old slate mine and Cwm Panmachno The only down comment from me was the low lighting in the main living area, others may prefer it.

Thank you for your lovely comments. We are glad you enjoyed your stay at our cottage and are welcome any time. You are right, it is a lovely area and the staff in the local shop are very helpful. Property Owner

  • "Beautiful cottage, great location."

Very well equipped . Home from home feeling, the little Xmas tree and mantle piece decorations were a nice touch. Would recommend and would love to revisit, but for us the king size divan was an issue. It was like sleeping on a brick and in fact we left early as my other half’s back could not take anymore. Having stayed in holiday cottages for many years would recommend you ditch the divan and replace with slatted bed frame which would suit all.

Thank you for your feedback. Sorry that you found the bed in the main bedroom uncomfortable - unfortunately, a mattress is a very subjective thing and what suits one doesn't suit another. We are glad that you liked the cottage itself though and thank you for your nice comments. Property Owner

  • "Bed and setees uncomfortable, toilet badly situated for use in early hours use especially walking down steep stairs."

Back garden ,communual lawn the grass was far too long and a gate would have been ideal to keep dogs secure.

We are sorry you found the beds and setaes uncomfortable at Bwthyn Y Cwm, both are quite new, we are thinking of leaving a mattress topper in the property which customers can use if needed. The property description is accurate, the bathroom is listed as being downstairs. As on the listing the garden is communal and locally managed, therefore we are not permitted to install a gate.
