  • "We were there for three weeks between house moves so inevitably felt a bit small, but wouldn’t be a problem for short stay."

Boiler was a bit noisy but very efficient during a cold smell.

  • "The stay was a good break and for the autumnal time of the year."

It was based in the surrounding countryside and the cottage was able to be kept warm and comfortable. An ace place in which to write stories with the wild surroundings and with which to take outside exercise. Anglesey was close and worth a visit and there is much to discover about the area.

For more details of our stay please read our previous submission. It was good to know we would be staying in an excellent place with good hosts.

  • "A very good cottage that fully met our expectations and requirements."

The cottage has all you need for your stay. Parking for the car is good. The view from the cottage, especially at sunset is excellent. The location will suit anyone wishing to visit the many attractions. Shopping in Pennygroes can be achieved by walking up the public footpath alongside the cottage. The village has a large Co-op; Spa shop; Pharmacy; community cafe; fish and chip shop; two take away food outlets; a general store and collector's shop. Staff speak both Welsh and English and welcome visitors. There is a community garden, garage for car repairs but not fuel and a police station. There are many walks to suit all people within a few minutes. Gareth, Denise and their dog Molly are all very helpful to visitors. We have family in the village and have visited for the last 16 years and have stayed in many other places. We wish we had found it before. We are looking forward to our return visit on 19th August 2023 for our second visi

A perfect base for visiting many places on the coast. We went somewhere different everyday over our week there. We fell in love with Molly, their black Labrador, she was wonderful. We would certainly go there again and recommend it to our family and friends.

  • "The only complaint we have is about the bed."

The size is to small to our opinion. When you turn round in the bed it makes a lot of noise and the matrass is not thick enough. I told it the owners and they said they had not have complaints about the bed until now. After two night of bad sleep, we bought an airbed and than the problem was solved. The owners are very friendly and kind.

  • "We felt that the description of the cottage as a ‘perfect for a couple seeking a romantic break away’ was a bit far fetched."

The bed was uncomfortable and the mattress creaked loudly when you turned over. At 5’4” I had to mind my head in several places in the bedroom - my 6’2” husband hit his head several times. The bathroom had the potential to be romantic, with its free standing bath tub, but the shower tiling needed redoing. Some reading lights in the living room would have given it more of a softer atmosphere. Having said all that, the owner was friendly and helpful, the cottage was in a good position for travel and it was well stocked with basic groceries, such as tea, coffee, salt and pepper, milk and washing up liquid. The instructions for getting there need to include instructions from Caernarfon too. If you’re thinking of staying there this year, be aware that there is a bypass being constructed on the way to Caernarfon and that impacts on trips to the north coast and towns. If you are going next year, it should be completed and will make a big difference.

Well presented and furnished, with everything working. There was milk in the fridge, tea, coffee and sugar and even some welsh cakes which was all very welcome. The views were wonderful and the property warm and cosy so thank you to Gareth and Denise and the two dogs, Meg and Molly. Three things to note. We needed to put the boiler on and there were no instructions. I figured it out but instructions would have been helpful, the bedroom upstairs is quite a way from the downstairs toilet if you're in a hurry, the bedroom beams and ceiling may be an issue for anyone above 5 10 in height. Overall a very nice property and hosts.

  • "This is by far the worst holiday that we have ever had."

On arrival we found the toilet was blocked. We tried to contact the owners and they apologised but said that they had gone away for the weekend and there wasn't anything they could do, There was no toilet brush supplied so I had to search round and found a mop, I was able to clear the blockage, but the system was taking approx twenty minutes to fill between flushes. I mentioned this to the owners late afternoon on Sunday, they assured me that a plumber would be out first thing Monday. We had to wait until Thursday before the toilet was fixed. There was hardly any communication from the owners, I felt that I had to do all of the chasing. This is by far the worst cottage that we have stayed in and couldn't get home quick enough. We have stayed in a number of cottages, we have never experienced anything like this before. It is by far the most disappointing one of all. I am sorry to leave such a negative review but this is how I feel. We feel that the owners could have done more than they did. I hope this review is of some help to you. Kind regards Mick Hopperton

  • "Had a fantastic time staying at Garreg Wen Isaf Bach."

Denise and Gareth were very welcoming and friendly yet unintrusive. The cottage itself was excellent and was far more than I could have wished for. It's very well equipped and the views on a fine day are stunning. On arrival from Leeds there were some sachets of coffee, a two pinter of milk and some delicious Welsh cakes. Not only was this a thoughtful touch but also a Godsend after my journey. Thanks again for those x. Garreg Wen Isaf Bach is directley off the A487 main road so there can be traffic noise at certain times but as I'm from one of outlying villages of Leeds it was nothing more than I'm used too. The bonus to this means that you are in the ideal location for most of the places you'll visit. Am planning a walking holiday of North Wales either next year or the year after and Garreg Wen Isaf Bach will be my first and only choice. Thanks again to Denise and Gareth for a truely wonderful time.
