  • "We really enjoyed our stay at the lodge, an interesting 18th century property at the entrance of a farm estate with beautiful surroundings and views."

It was well equipped with all we needed and very comfortable, it is well situated for exploring the Snowdonia area, has walks from the door step which were ideal for our dog. We were a bit concerned that one side of the lodge is right next to the A470 but we needn't have worried, there was some traffic noise but it didn't bother us. Thank you Elwyn for a warm welcome. • "Definitely recommend this absolutely lovely, cosey cottage!"

It’s bigger than it looked in the photos too and it was well equipped! (It would have been handy to have known there was a slow cooker to save bringing our own). We went with our 7 month old baby who had enough space to roll around! A great location, although we thought it was on the river itself which it unfortunately isn’t but the sheep, lambs and views made up for it. The village is so close (in the car), perfect for supplies and beautiful walk along the river. We wished we’d been able to stay longer as we felt so at home here :) The owner/caretaker was so friendly, accommodating and helpful, it’s nice to know you’re in safe hands if you need anything! Thank you for having us!!

e.g shower curtain was mouldy on bottom, bulb not working in shaver light, slight smell coming from sani-flo toilet, which was also noisy. Also a draw back that there is no wi-fi. Blinds and curtains could be replenished/updated. Outside - out-house/store roof had collapsed in and was in a bad state of repair, could be a hazard. Location of cottage to places to visit is good but the junction on to the main road is hair-raising to say the least, because of lack of visibility to the right, this is fast, busy main road.

  • "Clean, comfortable lodge in a handy location for large tracts of north west Wales."

Although it's next to a main road and a railway line we barely noticed them. Few trains in the day and none overnight. The landlord was friendly and helpful. The welcome wine and huge flapjack was appreciated! Nice big fridge-freezer and a good electric hob and double-over and microwave. Bath and shower were good, nice big bathroom too. Hot water was a bit puzzling - a switch on the wall said hot water but didn't seem to do anything so we ended up using the immersion heater when needed. Nothing in the Lodge manual to suggest doing anything different. Comfortable big bed, decent amount of wardrobe space and drawers. The high ceilings kept it pleasantly cool on the very hot days we had. There's a broad pavement/cycle track outside the Lodge all the way down to Llanrwst. Overall a peaceful week in a cosy Lodge in a fabulous location. Fond memories of looking out over the hills on the far side of the Conwy valley each morning!

LLANRWST

Betws-y-Coed 4 miles; Conwy 10 miles.

Llanrwst is a thriving market town which stands in the beautiful Conwy Valley, only four miles from picturesque Betws-y-Coed, known as the 'Gateway to Snowdonia' and which is North Wales's most popular inland resort. Surrounded by dense woodland and magnificent mountain country, this is a haven for walkers and outdoor enthusiasts alike. At Betws-y-Coed the River Conwy meets its three tributaries flowing from the west, and the beauty of the area is enhanced by cascading waterfalls, river pools and ancient bridges. The village has shops, pubs, places to eat, miniature railway, a riverside golf course and the Woodland High Rope Activity Centre, and is home to The Snowdonia National Park Visitor Centre, as well as being the start of the beautiful Conwy Valley which leads to the coast and the lovely towns of Llandudno and Conwy.
