  • "This was an excellent cottage!"

We have stayed at many Sykes Cottages and this was one of the very best. The photos of the bathroom looked cold but this was far from the case. The cottage was warm, comfortable and clean. Everything worked well. The bath was really lovely, especially after our days out geocaching in the snow and ice in sub-zero temperatures. The wi-fi was excellent. The area was very quiet with very little traffic. We would certainly recommend the cottage and will surely visit again.

I would highly recommend this lovely spacious cottage, which was very clean and comfortable. It is in easy access of Liverpool and other destinations with a train station within a short walking distance. We will definitely be returning as there is still so much to do. The locals are very friendly too. Thank you for a lovely stay.

The cottage is very clean and has excellent facilities. We love Port Sunlight. In addition to being well presented it is easy access for Liverpool, Chester, and Wells. Can you please the following to the owners. 1) The threshold on the front door is rotting and need replacing, otherwise issue could spread or allow water ingression to hall. 2) Could they supply keys to front room windows/replace locks? It will greatly help with ventilation.

Plenty to see and do - Lady Lever art gallery literally two minutes walk away with some of the best Preraphaelite art in the world. Short drive up to get the Ferry across the Mersey. Well stocked cottage, more spacious than the pics do justice to. Well kept, and plenty of on-street parking.

We felt instantly at home as soon as we walked through the door.Super position and easy parking on the road outside the property. The Lady Lever art gallery is really great. Organised walks around Port Sunlight we found very interesting..Bathroom and kitchen are very spacious. The recycling system is simple and easy to adhere to. The property was generally very clean but:- There was food residue inside the oven and the microwave. The microwave needed a good clean inside. These obviously had not been checked. There was a large, orange coloured bag in the wardrobe which seemed to be full of used towels. The label on the bag said "Maid to Wirral". We Had a lovely week there and would be happy to return.

  • "Sunlight Cottage is an ideal property for visiting the Wirral, Chester and Liverpool."

We found it to be very comfortable and ideal for our party of two. The heating is very efficient given time for the large radiators to warm up and the remote control enabled us to adjust the heating to our requirements. The bathroom, especially the shower, is one of the best we have encountered in any rental property. Port Sunlight has a unque community atmosphere and Sunlight Cottage enabled us to feel part of that community during our stay. We would reccomend a visit to the Lady Lever Art Gallery. Lots to see and do plus a super cafe in the basement. The Port Sunlight Museum provides a fascinating insight into the history of the soap industry and the development of Port Sunlight. We would definitely return.

  • "What a lovely place to stay in, so quiet and pleasant, never far from some green open spaces."

It was lovely walking around the vicinity. The location is also perfect for exploring all the main tourist attractions in and around Liverpool. Chester wasn't too far away for a day trip either. As for the property itself, it is well furnished and equipped, even with a back-up Kettle! The heating worked well and we could always get parked outside the front of the property. There is nothing to dislike about the property or location in our opinion.

I am afraid we had some small but niggling issues with the stay. !. The heating didn't seem to come on at the right times, so the mornings were rather chilly. 2.When the radiators were working well we had to draw the curtains across which defeated the effect of fully heating the bedrooms and the living area. 3. Lovely large and deep bath but the water heater could not cope with filling the bath with hot enough water. Other than that your cottage exceeded our expectations. Many thanks again. John & Steve.

The property has been tastefully modernised with everything you could need. Location was central for exploring Chester and Liverpool amongst others with the train station within easy walking distance. The owner was really accommodating in fitting in with our dedicated dates. Would highly recommend to anyone wanting to stay in the area. The Bridge Inn and the Tudor Rose Tea Rooms in the village are well worth a visit.

The plumbing needs attention.Air blocks in pipes which create a loud howling when water is run or toilet flushed. Cottage was warm and beds were comfortable. Downstairs the living room furniture was very tired and not comfortable to sit on. The crockery was basic and although four of everything some things were chipped. There were lots of items of furniture that served no purpose such as piano stool but no bedside cabinets. The owners had placed stickers on walls and cupboards with instructions which did not look nice at all. The cottage is in a good place near to the train station etc but does need some attention.

it's position in the centre of the village was very convenient and the back sitting out area was a wonderful sun trap in the afternoons. Port Sunlight is a haven between the busy Port roads. We didn't get in our car at all. We found the Museum and Soap Works very interesting and the Lady Lever Art Gallery stunning with much to look at in this magnificent building. We also enjoyed walks to and around the Port Sunlight River Park. In these Covid times eating out was a bit of a problem but we did enjoy some excellent Scouse in the Art Gallery Cafe and delicious cake in the Tudor Tea Rooms. The Garden Centre is well worth a visit too and it has a large restaurant, although they were having staffing problems at times. We found everyone in the area welcoming and helpful. The weather was warm and often sunny so altogether an excellent week's break.

We've stayed in many self-catering properties over the years and this has to be one of the best.
