  • "The cottage was beautiful everything you would need was there warm and cosy."

Just one little complaint the sink in the bathroom was so small it was really difficult just to clean your teeth and was your hands.

  • "I think we left the property cleaner than when we entered."

It’s a shame because the apartment looks lovely on the advert. The location is ideal for bus routes and parking is a bonus. The view however from the apartment was of a carpark and people kept looking in and walking through the courtyard where we sat do not very private.

Thanks for your feedback Margaret, we hope that otherwise you enjoyed your holiday. We wish that you had reported the cleanliness issue when you arrived as It would have given us the opportunity to resolve it. We will address this with our cleaner. Checking back this year, there have been no previous issues, with the cleanliness scores usually 100%. We're sorry that you didn't like the courtyard and car park. In 14 years it is the first complaint we've had regarding this. Property Owner

Masses of plates but only five mugs and keys to French doors missing. Otherwise a fantastic location and comfortable base for exploring North Wales and Snowdonia. Near to supermarkets, petrol station and local shops as well as a few banks.

Thanks for your feedback Lindsay, we’re glad that you enjoyed your stay. Apologies for the issues you had. The washing machine is being repaired this week and the French door keys are back in place (previous guests must’ve moved them). Unfortunately some of the mugs must’ve been broken - thanks for reporting, we will get some more. Property Owner

  • "A broken bed in the twin single bedroom took 3 days to get replaced and a water leak from the apartment above involved some DIY maintenance and resulted in the second bedroom being uninhabitable for the last week of our stay."

The property owner did all he could but the maintenance company were uncontactable.

Thanks for your feedback George, we hope you enjoyed your holiday. A few points regarding your comments:- 1) The broken bed, while still usable, was replaced with a new bed less than 48 hours after being reported. 2) The smell reported from the damp carpet (due to the leak which was resolved within an hour) which made the second bedroom uninhabitable - both myself and my housekeeper called in after you left and didn’t notice any odour at all. The next guests (who arrived the same day you departed) have not reported any issues. Property Owner

Comfortable apartment with everything you could need for a holiday stay. Pet friendly which is a huge bonus for travellers with their pets. The apartment fronts the secure car park, so whilst we didn't let our dog loose in the car park, tethered on a long lead and supervised she was quite happy to have a wander around. Overall an excellent holiday base and would be happy to book again.

Fantastic beaches and walks are very close too. The owners have left maps and guide books in the lounge drawers for visitors which really helped us to plan some amazing trips out with stunning scenery.

Pity about the lack of towels and the time the hot water takes to come through. Still has lot of, possibly now not required, Covid information and instructions in various places. Only one one set of keys and not the two mentioned in the information sheet in the kitchen area. Overall we would be happy to return in the future.

Thanks for your feedback Michael. We’re glad that you enjoyed your holiday and would return. Thanks for making us aware about the hot water, we will look into that and the spare keys have now been replaced. We are currently looking in to the towels with our housekeeper and hope to be providing them again soon. Property Owner

We had rescheduled twice due to the pandemic so we were glad to finally make it! The apartment was warm and cosy with a spacious, well-equipped kitchen. The shower pressure was excellent. There was also a very nicely put together list of things to do in the area. The location is great as it's right in the centre of town but very quiet. We would love to stay here again and are actually thinking of returning in the summer!

  • "We had a really nice week in Porthmadog."

The location of this apartment is excellent, and we'd definitely return to Porthmadog itself for a future holiday. On the whole the apartment was as advertised, spacious, and well-equipped (minus essentials in the kitchen like salt etc), however we did question why we needed to bring our own towels since we were asked to put bed linen in a degradable bag at the end of the stay anyway (with a "threat" of a £25 charge if we didn't do this). Covid seems like a bit of an excuse here, and it's not ideal to have damp towels to deal with at the end of the week. The parking on site was really handy, and we had no issues, but wondered whether it was actually possible to manoeuvre into/out of the designated space should their have been cars in the adjacent spaces. Overall a nice place to stay for a week.

Thanks for your feedback and we're glad you enjoyed your holiday. We must apologise regarding the out of date Covid sign, which mentions an additional charge which no longer applies (this has now been removed). Unfortunately, due to Covid we were unable to provide towels for the last two years. We are currently reviewing this with our housekeeper and we hope to be able to supply towels soon. We do hope that this didn’t detract from the enjoyment of your stay. Property Owner

  • "This property offered everything you know and expect from a Sykes cottage."

It was clean, comfortable and well appointed. The weather was not good however, due to the lovely, spacious accommodation, we were able to stay comfortably indoors when the weather was too bad to go out. This location is tremendous, right on the harbour and seconds from the high street, and you can also see the steam trains from the window! It is also a great centre point for visiting the beautiful surrounding area. Whilst there is no garden for dogs, there are quick walking places (and lots of bins) right outside the complex and lots of walking opportunites close by. All in all, a lovely break. This is the second time of staying within the Oakleys complex (2 different properties, both via Sykes) and we would not hesitate to recommend it.

Location was excellent , tucked away near the harbour , very quiet at night - yet all the towns facilities were close by. It is the small details which mean the most, plenty of coat hangers , a non slip mat to use in the bath/shower and a nightlight near the bedrooms. However, please note , no hairdryer ! The weather was superb , which does really help, and the cafes and pubs did their level best to get round this difficult time . We used the trains , the coastal route to Aberdovey and the Ffestiniog railway-we had to have our own carriage , which was great.!

This our fourth time of visiting and the cleanliness no-where matched the previous times. The property

Bwthyn Llechen is a holiday apartment in a pretty, Grade II listed building nestled in the quiet back streets of Porthmadog on the Llŷn Peninsula.

Formerly the Slate Wharf manager's house for the Oakley quarry at Ffestiniog, it has now been carefully converted, retaining its fine exterior, into a relaxing, contemporary, spacious holiday apartment all on one level (great for wobbly knees and hips!).

If you are keen to reduce your carbon footprint you can arrive by train or bicycle and have masses to do from here without needing a car.

Porthmadog is home to the Ffestiniog Railways - hop on a train and visit the slate mines at Llechwedd, travelling through some stunning scenery, or take a Sherpa bus to the foot of Snowdon, going through the pretty village of Beddgelert.

Good cafes and restaurants are all within walking distance - try Hen Fecws!

Discover wonderful beaches at Black Rock Sands and pretty coves and bays around the harbour at Borth Y Gest.

This apartment is a delight and in the most convenient central location.

There is parking for two cars, too.

A fabulous place to stay whilst on holiday in North Wales!
