  • "We loved staying at Bryn Meillion - the house is charming and unique, it's perfectly situated and the views are fabulous."

We were extremely unlucky with the weather so the views were not always available (!) but we always enjoyed the comfort of the well-appointed house and garden. We hope to be back - it'll be even more gorgeous in warmer weather.

Thank you so much for your enthusiastic comments! We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay so much and appreciate your feedback. We have improved the property considerably over the winter closure and feel it has been rejuvenated. We look forward to welcoming you back soon. Property Owner

  • "The most amazing views from this cottage and a great place to stay and explore the peninsula."

Lovely kitchen and a very welcome bottle of wine on our arrival. To some extent it would be nice to have curtains in the living/dining room (would be more cosy at night) but also appreciated the view impact when going downstairs in the morning.

Thank you for your feedback. We have now taken your comments into consideration and fitted curtains to the front windows for guests to choose to use. Thank you, we are pleased you enjoyed your stay at Bryn Meillion and everything the local area has to offer. Property Owner

  • "The property location and views are amazing."

However on arrival we found it was quite dusty around and under the furniture on the floor. The oven trays are rusty and not fit for purpose , we only had one bin liner in the bin and no others left, not enough for the whole week. The wheelie bin outside was full to the top and we had to pick up rubbish from around the garden the next day, due to the wind blowing the lid open. Shelves in the fridge and draws in the freezer where broken. We had no starter pack left for the log burner as was stated in the original property details at the time of booking. No curtains/ blinds in the lounge area was a bit off putting as people walked passed at night with torches

The property is thoroughly cleaned every changeover at à considerable expense. I have changed a couple of oven trays that had been used all year. I have checked the new fridge-freezer and the trays are fine. I have replaced a broken shelf in the built-in fridge. The details have been amended and we do not provide logs as I think is made clear, but sorry. Previous guests had started to use a garden refuse wheelie bin for domestic rubbish and we have emptied and removed this, sorry. The living room doesn’t have curtains to make the most of the views as is clear in the photos on the web. I haven’t experienced anyone passing with torches and the house is a considerable way from the road and very well screened. I we are pleased that you enjoyed the spectacular location Property Owner

  • "A beautiful, idyllic property with stunning views across Hell's Mouth."

Inside, it feels very cosy and welcoming with spacious rooms, more than well- equipped for our party of six and one furry friend. Sandy coves and areas of outstanding natural beauty are there to be explored with the local village of Abedaron just a short drive away with its cafes, fish and chip shop, Spar and golden sands. There's something for all ages. A large enclosed garden surrounds the house with enough room to park two cars out front. We loved our stay at Brynn Meillion and will definitely stay there again. We cannot recommend this place enough.

  • "What a wonderful holiday home in the most beautiful place."

Everywhere you look the views are spectacular! The house was very comfortable and homely. It had everything you could possibly need. We had a fantastic two weeks there and we're sad to leave! The only slight problem was that the gate was broken, but it didn't effect us. Could also use a big bin for rubbish disposal. These issues were only minor and didn't spoil our holiday at all we loved it there. Walking up on the National Trust land all around the property was amazing.

Dear guest Many thanks indeed for your response! We’re so pleased that you explored the area which we love. Really sorry that the gate post broke as you were there. We have a builder replacing both posts and it should be up-and-running again next week. We hope you may return soon. Property Owner

  • "We had a great time at the cottage."

The views were breathtaking! Well placed to explore the Llyn peninsular. The overall cleanliness was very good. The only minor observations were that there was no floor cleaner (the doggy had a little accident) and no oven gloves, which made cooking interesting. Overall, we had a fantastic holiday and would recommend this cottage.

  • "Amazing location and a very comfortable, spacious house."

The accommodation is excellent including a sizable and well equipped kitchen. The house is bathed in light, even on a dull day (they do happen occasionally on the Llyn!) It is so peaceful, just the sounds of birds and the occasional sheep bleating, and has the best views of anywhere we have ever stayed. Snowdonia and Cader Idris seen from the dining table - unbeatable!

Dear James, thank you so much for such a positive response! You clearly have a very similar response to the house to us. It is a special corner of the Lleyn peninsula. We look forward to welcoming you back soon. Property Owner

  • "The TV was a useless ornament in the corner."

No reception from aerial, Wi-Fi connection so weak only managed to connect to iplayer twice in early afternoon zero in evening. There was a DVD player but again useless as no cable to connect it to TV. Downstairs there a 6 plug in 'anti pest' units to stop (the packaging says) rodents, flies, insects etc. You have to ask why are they needed!?!? Found the reason when we went to bed upstairs. Had to swot 5 large flies after turned bedside light on.. and then an angry wasp arrived !!! Was not expecting that in December! Continued with one or more flies every night at bedtime. The place ne3ds fumigating!! Upstairs bathroom window. The window frame fits like a cork in a bucket! Someone had stuffes toilet paper into to the gaps where to frame meet the wall but this was still visibly moving as the wind blew. Window needed to be barrackaded with towels and draft excluder from front door to made the bathroom usable. You could still feel the wind (you could not call it just a draft) blowing unde4 the bathroom door and 8 your face as you walked up stairs. Even with radiator on you still left bathroom immediately after a shower as it was so cold. Summary, sort out TV & Wi-Fi, fumigate to get rid of pests, sort out bathroom window and it might be usable If it is not already obvious to you, THIS IS A COMPLAINT! Will not be looking favorably at Sykes in future after 5his

Dear visitor, I apologise for the lack of TV reception and low Wifi signal although it may have been the extreme winds and storms before your visit, if we had been made aware we would have looked into it while you were at the house. Rural properties can be subject to the occasional reawakening of hibernating flies when the weather turns or the house warms up, but these can be dealt with if we are informed of them. I do hope you enjoyed the position and views in spite of your aforementioned issues and hope that if you visit with us again you contact us while at the house rather than afterwards. Property Owner

  • "Bryn Meillion is in a stunning position overlooking Hells Mouth Bay and is perfect for watching the weather roll in and for watching the sunset."

The house was very clean and generally well equipped. I have noticed the owners say that this is a work in progress so there were a few things that need attention. There was no internet connection for the whole of the stay, as has been said in previous feedback when you try and connect you are asked to pay. There are no instructions for the electric hob and this took some working out and the garden needs a good trim as the bushes are blocking the entrance and restricting the view when exiting on to the road. I would be interested in visiting again in a couple of years to see how the work has progressed.

Dear Neil Thanks so much for your feedback. I am delighted that, on the whole, you had a good visit. Thee WiFi should have money on account for you to draw down. It needs to be done every month so I will try to find a way of improving the system for next year, sorry! I will also look out the instructions for the induction hob - you are the first (I think) to have issues, but it is different from a normal hob. I appreciate that by the time you visited in late Sept the garden must have been rather wild! Sorry, we have the lawns mown and the hedge cut, but I will get on top of the overgrown shrubs by the entrance and the drive out to the road. I am planning other significant improvements, reacting to feedback, such as decoration, overhaul of the central heating plumbing, new mattresses in each bedroom, new outside chairs, mending of the leak in the roof of the utility room. I hope that you might feel that you want to return again soon. Best wishes Miles Property Owner

Only recommendation would be to replace the tired mattress in the upstairs master bedroom. Apart from that would definitely stay again!

Finally just accessed the portal, Gareth, so can respond. Sorry it’s late! I’m replacing all 3 mattresses in 2 weeks ready for next season. They are decent ones and should give you a better night’s sleep if you return! Thanks Property Owner

  • "Positives - Great location, stunning view and secluded garden."

We liked that there were no notices with do's and don'ts. We were very lucky with the weather, ate out on the terrace every day, and had a truly enjoyable and relaxing holiday. We saw whales in the bay, and buzzards overhead, and we were able to take some good walks to the trig point behind, down to the beach (access quite tricky) and visited the National Trust house. However - there were issues: - The postcode is for a cottage a mile or so away and causes a satnav to take a route along very narrow roads to entirely the wrong place. It was luck that we found the cottage by chance before nightfall. The written directions are misleading. - The accommodation fell short relative to other places we have stayed - with no welcome pack or visitors book, limited instructions, and no telephone number to call for help. - The hot water was off (others have commented on this before) and the control took some finding (in the right cupboard of the downstairs bedroom, not the left). The induction hob took some figuring out for us who are not familiar with the design. There was information on the washing machine and dishwasher. The upstairs power shower was off and it took a while to realise that the pull cord in the bathroom turned it on. - It was most inconvenient for six people staying for a week to have just a small under worktop fridge. We had to store food in cool bags. There is plenty of space in the utility room for a freezer. The property owner should take note as another feedback mentioned the lack of a freezer. Also all the mattresses are worn and should be replaced. The chairs on the patio look nice in the pictures but one in particular is unsteady and dangerous. - Also please let others know that if they go blackberry picking in the hedgerow along the lane as we did, they must be careful as there are adder snakes found sometimes basking in the sun. Some local people warned us of this - sandals not advised! - Finally - great in principle that there is WiFi but a 1mb system (!) is unusable - the 4G telephone signal was better. - If the owner makes the necessary changes we would certainly consider going back. Will check regarding improvement before any future booking is made.

  • "I’ve already registered a complaint re this property."

So disappointing. Dirty threadbare carpets and rugs. Flaking paint work, damp patches on the walls. A leak in the upstairs bathroom. Lots of random objects ie. Garden chairs in the lounge! The actual patio set provided looked as though it would fall apart if sat on. I have sent photographs of all of the above.Such a shame as the house would have great potential if completely renovated.

We are sorry that you didn't find the house entirely to your satisfaction. We only made the property available to hire this year and certainly it is to some extent, I suppose, still a work in progress. It has been considerably up-graded including new back windows and door, full exterior repainting, some new carpets and a new upstairs shower. None of the fitted carpets is threadbare and the house is thoroughly cleaned each changeover. There are a couple of antique rag rugs and one Turkey rug which may indeed look a little threadbare! We took the decision to leave the house rather quirkily furnished with books, pictures and ornaments and we think that the many photos advertising the house make our approach clear. The patio furniture is rather old fashioned and we will replace this autumn. We hope that you enjoyed the remarkable tranquil position and the truly spectacular views in spite of the issues you raise. Thank you for your feedback. Best wishes Property Owner

  • "Lovely house in a beautiful location."

Great views from the house. Unfortunately for us we must have picked the worst week for weather and the wind and rain for most of the week was horrendous. So we were a bit at a loose end with things to do. The house was clean comfy and had a charm about it. We made use of the telescope. We had no WiFi the entire time not sure why, every time we tried to log in it kept wanting us to pay. We had to use our own data lucky we had plenty as I said the weather was so bad. On the few good days we went to the lovely beaches and had a few walks. Would recommend the house anyone that wants a nice secluded out of the way break. Probably not ideal for small kids as it’s a bit of a trek to the beach daily. Would stay again .

Thanks for your very positive feedback, Maria. I’m definitely near to sorting the WiFi- the mini hub assumes I’m there to top up even though there’s money in the account. Sorry! All the best Miles Property Owner

  • "Great time in this cottage."

Comfortable beds & spacious rooms. We loved the garden & the fact that it was not manicured or hard landscaped. Plenty of birds & butterflies. A buzzard frequently perched on a nearby telegraph pole. One of the metal garden chairs unsafe! Overall a great break for us.

  • "Lovely cottage although a bit tired."

Previous cottages we have stayed in have lots of pamphlets about local things to do and quite often a typed sheet with info such as Dr/chemist/pub/shop etc and sometimes a welcome pack. I appreciate that this is not a requirement but is a nice touch especially when you are so isolated. Having said that it is a beautiful spot and plenty of walks are close by.

Sorry for the über late response, Sue. Issues with accessing the portal. There’s a welcome laminated sheet now and a few other improvements since June! All the best Property Owner

  • "The location was breathtaking!"

The property outstanding. Attention to detail in every respect made our stay so enjoyable. If I were to add anything it would be to suggest a freezer in the utility. This would be so useful. In the upstairs shower room it is very! draughty from the roof space, it would be quite cold in later months of the year. We have stated in many amazing locations at home and abroad, I cant emphasise enough how inviting the property is, it felt like someone had invited you into their very delightful home. We felt privileged to have stay there. What a find!

Many thanks Meryl! Thanks for your marvellous review and sorry for the very late response. I’ve just got to grips with the portal! Just to let you know that we now have a big new fridge-freezer in the utility room. Hope you come back soon. Best wishes Property Owner
