Riverside Cottage in Rhewl is a beautiful, traditional, stone-built property overlooking the River Dee in one of the most Idyllic locations that Wales has to offer. The nearby town of Llangollen offers a whole host of eateries and attractions, from river rafting to canal boat trips across the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, which is a world heritage site. And, of course, there is the famous Llangollen to Corwyn railway which has both steam and vintage diesel trips following the course of the delightfully pretty Dee valley. We also took a day trip across Snowdonia National Park to the wonderfully baroque Portmeirion, while Liverpool, Chester, and Shrewsbury were also fantastic day trip destinations. As I'm a runner and cyclist, I was not to be disappointed either! The highlights were running along the canal paths which are so beautifully kept; and for cyclists, the Horseshoe Pass is a must - but be warned - you need to be very fit to attempt the ascent! Our week's stay at Riverside Cottage in Rhewl made our holiday in north-east Wales perfect in every way.
