  • "I searched for hours for a cottage with a hot tub next to the property and the pictures were so deceiving as the hot tub wasn’t next to the property and across the owners car park who lived next door."

There were people outside in the day and everyone had direct view of the hot tub so was a bit embarrassing to use for a romantic weekend. A woman and a child walked directly in front on the cottage window when I was half naked which thankfully they never saw me but I didn’t expect anyone to ever be walking past the property so close. I don’t think I’d book a semi detached again but I’d also definitely enquire about the location of the hot tub before believing images. It did ruin the whole weekend as I booked it for the hot tub o leg as we don’t ever put ours on at home. The fridges needed cleaning inside and the heating never worked downstairs so had to get another radiator which made a little difference but we really did appreciate the extra heat in the cold weather.

  • "We enjoyed our stay at Wern Olau cottage very much."

It is in a great location, and we loved winding our way up the little road to reach it. The cottage was well-presented, spotlessly clean and in good order. Everything worked, and everything we needed was there - it felt like the owners had thought hard about what their guests might like. The bedrooms were comfortable, with large beds, and the bathrooms were fresh and clean. We met the owner, Dewi, who was friendly and helpful. We also met the cats out the front, who were keen for a fuss! Our only snag was the back door lock, which turned out to be quite fiddly to work. This took a bit of a knack to unlock but we got there in the end. There is also no quiet or graceful way to go up or down the creaky stairs, but it added to the character! We loved Wern Olau cottage, and hope to return soon! Thank you for a lovely stay.

The cottage is beautiful, we received a fabulous welcome package and the cottage was equipped with everything you could ever need. The beds are amazingly comfy, especially the master. The jacuzzi was a great addition - although note it is across the drive at the front of the cottage, where from the pictures we thought it was on a balcony at the back. The views and sunsets from the jacuzzi however are fabulous. We also thought that we would have access to the large grassed garden at the back, but this belongs to the owners property next door, so there isn’t anywhere for the kids to be able to play. We had a very enjoyable week, and have no hesitation in recommending the cottage, it really is lovely. You will also have the company of 3 very friendly cats which my kids loved!

  • "The property itself is lovely."

The views from the living room windows, out to sea are beautiful - the pictures on here don’t do it justice. The cottage is well equipped and has everything you need. It’s a great space and the open plan living is ideal. Owners were friendly. There were however a number of niggles - the cottage was freezing when we arrived and it took almost two days to heat up (underfloor heating and there is no fire etc for instant heat), the stairs creak badly, Wi-Fi doesn’t exist downstairs, tv in the living room is an old smart tv and therefore you can only get Netflix (not the end of the world but would have been useful in the evenings), parking is at the back of the property (not the front as the pictures would suggest - that’s for the owners!), the freezer is downstairs at the back door (again, not the end of the world - just an inconvenience, especially when there is space at the top of the stairs for it!), the hot tub (which was lovely) is situated in front of the cottage - across the area where the owners park. We felt that the pictures on the site are misleading about the parking and location of the hot tub. Both double beds were uncomfortable, though as we were leaving there was a mattress which was waiting to be brought in - so hopefully that will fix one of the beds!

On arrival we were greeted with chocolates and wine which was a great start! Safe for young children as ample stair gates are supplied, although the highchair harness has possibly seen better days. The main bedroom super king size bed was extremely comfy and fit two adults and a restless baby no problem! The second bedroom’s mattress and quality of bedding unfortunately didn’t quite match up, however my parents still reported they slept well. Beautiful, clean hot tub with gorgeous views! The pictures really do not do it justice! If you are looking for a luxury countryside escape, this is the place for you. The scenery was out of this world and nothing can compare to watching the sunset in the hot tub. It was blissful. The pictures only show two bedrooms when in fact it actually has three and the entire house is just beautiful. You can really tell that they take real pride in their property and 5 stars is more than deserved. The owners have really gone out of their way to make sure that the house has everything you could possibly need and the place is so clean and comfortable that it really feels like a home away from home. All you need to bring is your clothes, toiletries and food. Everything else is waiting for you and we even arrived to some Prosecco and chocolates which was an unexpected and lovely gesture. Around the house there is also lots of leaflets and information about fun things that you can do during your stay which was super helpful and there were even local takeaway leaflets should you need them. The house is attached/next to the owners house but do not let this deter you as the lovely owners didn’t bother us once. We had complete privacy and felt as comfortable as we would have felt in our own homes and we really didn’t want to leave! The owners were very friendly and introduced themselves when we arrived and then left us to it for the whole weekend, but were just a call away should we have needed anything. Had they not introduced themselves, we would have never even known they were there. That’s how much privacy we had! Thank you for the stay!!

  • "This was a very special holiday for me because I was evacuated to Wern Olau at the outbreak of World War 2 in September 1939."

I was an evacuee for about a year before returning home to my parents in Sheffield, but I remained in touch with the Owen family for many years, and I think my last visit to the farm was in 1968 when I camped there for two or three nights with my wife and young family. However I never lost my love for North Wales and in my climbing years visited many times, but my return to Wern Olau last week was very very special, and my wife and I received a great welcome from Lena and Dewi. I think they have made a brilliant conversion of the oldest part of the property, and of course I was able to tell them exactly what went on each part. You probably know that the master bedroom area was a byre for 7 or 8 head of cattle. Of course the absolute highlight of the new layout is the upstairs living area from where Wern Olau's greatest asset is best accessed; I refer of course to the wonderful view across the sea to Anglesey which still entrances me even after 80 years. As a bonus we were able to watch the most wonderful sunsets on four of the five night we were at the cottage. We would book the cottage for a lot longer next year, if only we could be sure ofour continued mobility.

I was happy with being able to keep on top of washing with the washer and dryer (there where even washing tabs supplied) Jacuzzi was lovely and so well maintained, our kids enjoyed that time of the day. Everyone enjoyed giving Jac the horse lots of attention, he is so gentle and loving. I particular loved the cats aswell. The owner was very friendly. We did get lost on the way there, as we arrived after dark. Sat Nav and instructions in the email say to turn left at the fork (which is correct) but says turn left again (we ended up in the middle of a gentleman's field) he kindly pointed us in the right direction. I would highly reccomend this to anyone who has young children and also had a pony called jack in the field which could be seen from the window in the living room. As for the cottage well its extremely spacious and very homely, the owners have made sure it was well equipped...(clean fresh towels, kitchen equipment, washing up/dishwasher materials) there are plenty of dvds and board games in the table near the sofas which we didn't find till the night before we left. The views are amazing and the cottage was also very easy to find via sat nav (typed in the postcode and it ended exactly where the cottage was) my only problem was the closest supermarket was a bit of a drive so make sure you have a list with you and not forget anything whilst shopping and also the hot tub isn't very private and is in view of the owners cottage, but we didn't use it ourselves We've already spoken about going back in a couple of years. The beds were very good quality and with good mattresses, this made for a good night's sleep. All bathrooms were well appointed and very clean. We were also very impressed with the kitchen; it was well equipped and had an excellent dishwasher which is unusual! The only things lacking were decent chopping boards and matching decent mugs, also would be better if there were some tumbler glasses. Minor points really! The views from the 1st floor are lovely, looking out to the sea and it is very quiet there. However, we felt the lack of outdoor private space could be a bit of an issue in better weather. The hot tub is in nice position, though is across the front driveway. The owners are on site next door and are very friendly, and are available if there are any problems which was reassuring. We would be happy to return to this cottage to further explore the area as there are so many places to visit that we couldn't fit it all in in a week!

Very comfortable beds in all rooms, kitchen diner very well equipt. Huge variety of games provided to keep little ones (And big ones) entertained. Hot tub was lovely but remember to take some flipflops as you have to walk across drive to get to it. Great location and very close to a huge variety of lovely places ie. Beaumaris, Caernarfon, West highland railway, zip world quarry and fforest , south stack light house and of course Snowdon.

  • "Lovely cottage, could not fault the cleanliness."

Perfect location only a 25 minute drive to Mount Snowdon, far enough away from busy roads but close enough to a supermarket. Would definitely stay again if visiting the area. The only criticism is that the hot tub was not as private as we had hoped.

  • "A very nice cottage in a good location to access the area/attractions of North Wales."

It was well stocked with everything that would be needed on your stay here. The beds were some of the most comfortable we have experienced. Having the sitting area upstairs works as the views are really nice, also it means you don't have to carry suitcases upstairs. What you see in the photos are accurate. With the access across the yard we did not use the hot tub as the weather was cold. We enjoyed our stay (friendly owners) and would recommend. The post code worked for us took us to the entrance/drive of the cottage.Tip use google street to see where your heading/looking for. .

  • "This cottage was unbelievable."

Dewi the owner even went into the town to purchase a travel cot for us to use when he realised my son was a toddler. Everything we needed was available. There was also complimentary wine and sweets waiting for us when we arrived. My kids loved the views. There was never a time that there weren't sheep, a horse, cats to look at. The fact the bedrooms were downstairs was perfect too as we could empty the car without having to trapes up an down stairs. You can see the sun setting from the living room / diner and the hot tub was A M A Z I N G. Highly recommend. Great value for money. Would absolutely love to come back

  • "We stayed at the cottage over the Christmas period so the Christmas tree and decorations really gave it a festive feel and much appreciated."

The cottage is in a secluded location with great views to the sea. It was very well equipped to a high standard throughout, we particularly liked the open plan kitchen and living area and the underfloor heating throughout the cottage was very effective in keeping the place warm. We all very much enjoyed our short Christmas break and would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing holiday in North Wales.

Will definitely be going back. Done to perfection. The only downfall is that the hot tub isn’t as secluded as we thought but it is still right near the property and drops down and so is hidden away still. Will be back

  • "The instructions given for finding the cottage were wrong at the final part."

It said the cottage was on the left, and we went trundling down a lane to someone else's home, through a couple of gates, because the postcode and your directions had specified that it would be on the left after the left fork. Actually it is a little further on, up a driveway on the right, the house is not very visable from the road, when you are looking for it - especially in the dark. There is a house name at the bottom of the driveway, but easily overlooked. We had even done a google search prior to arriving, knowing we would not be there until it was evening. The postcode does not quite work for the Sat Nav, but gets you within a short distance of the cottage. Having found the cottage, we have had a very pleasant stay. The cottage was welcoming, nicely decorated and roomy. The beds were very comfortable and the views from the upstairs living space spectactular.

We had a great week away here and everything was accessible and easy to use in the house. The beds were the most comfortable we’ve ever slept in! There was a variety of ages in our group and even the smallest enjoyed himself very very much, as there’s so much to do in the surrounding area. If you want beautiful scenery along with some adventures this is the holiday for you.
