The property

A superb, detached, 18th century property with an outdoor heated swimming pool, which featured as the winner of the Mirror's top ten holiday cottages with pools in August 2014, set in the scattered hamlet of Rhoshirwaun, less than 4 miles from the delightful coastal village of Aberdaron on the popular Llyn Peninsula.

This spacious cottage near Abersoch offers welcoming accommodation, ideal for extended families and groups of friends wishing for a relaxing holiday base with space for all.

The main body of the cottage houses an impressive farmhouse kitchen with a triple oven AGA and a superb social dining area.

There is also a large second kitchen with utility and a welcoming sitting room with sumptuous leather sofas and a large inglenook fireplace with woodburner.

Throughout this Aberdaron cottage you will find features including exposed stonework, original panelled walls, tiled floors and a vaulted, oak beamed ceiling in the master bedroom, which also boasts an en-suite bathroom and double sofa bed.

The main part of this Aberdaron cottage houses three other first floor bedrooms plus a ground floor twin room with feature fireplace.

A bright and airy conservatory-style passage leads through to a rear wing of this impressive Aberdaron holiday home, where you will find a summer room with patio doors and a study area leading from it, with a spiral staircase leading to two further well-appointed bedrooms with a shared bathroom.

Outside, this Abersoch cottage comes alive, with over an acre of superb mature gardens with numerous specimen trees and a babbling brook meandering through the garden, criss-crossed by paths and bridges.

To the rear of your Aberdaron cottage, set in absolute privacy, guests can enjoy a swim in the 36’ long outdoor pool.

Why not just relax and sunbathe on one of the surrounding terraces whilst the kids splash and swim to their hearts content?

Numerous outbuildings offer changing facilities, toilets and storage for pool inflatables, mountain bikes or watercraft.

Nearby you will find a welcoming village pub and just four miles away is Whistling Sands National Trust beach, regarded as one of the finest in North Wales, and Hell’s Mouth, renowned far and wide as one of the best surfing beaches in the UK.

The surrounding area has a large number of protected sites including Cors Geirch National Nature Reserve, the National Heritage Coastline, which boasts fine walks, much of which, along with the surrounding characterful hills, have been a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Popular Abersoch, home to the Wakestock festival, is just 9 miles away and offers plenty of shops and a fine range of restaurants, along with a first class beach, while the Snowdonia National Park is just 40 minutes’ drive away.

The seaside village of Aberdaron is peacefully situated around two streams, and facing the sea. Straggling up the hills are the buildings that give Aberdaron its character; the lime-washed fishermen's cottages, the cafes, shops, and hotels, and the church of St Hywyn. On each side of the river's mouth is the beach for walking and playing on, and a promenade where you can watch the sailing boats and regattas in the bay. There is also a National Trust visitor centre and car park. The popular resorts of Pwllheli and Abersoch are within easy reach. Discover fabulous castles and coves, or enjoy excellent fishing, watersports and golf opportunities, all available nearby. The dramatic scenery and abundance of superb walks at the Snowdonia National Park area are within easy driving distance, making an ideal base for a varied and enjoyable holiday, at any time of year.
