  • "The only good thing about Alpine Lodge is the view."

Dirty, run down in disrepair and smelly and needs some tlc and money spent on it to bring it back up to a decent standard. Would not recommend. Made some comments in the visitors book which I hope the owner takes notice of

  • "We recently stayed at Alpine Lodge."

The milk and biscuits provided on arrival were a welcome surprise! This clean, warm, cosy accommodation is surrounded by beautiful countryside, yet only a short drive or walk to the beach. There are plenty of places to visit locally, including venues of historical interest. The local towns offer many take-aways, cafes and restaurants to choose from, although the kitchen is well-equipped, incuding a full-sized cooker, hob and microwave. Seeking a quiet, relaxing break, we appreciated the Sky TV package included in the cost of the holiday. The lodge provided plenty of room for us and the tranquility that we had sought. We will definitely be returning!

Thank you for your lovely feedback and for your top scores for cleanliness, comfort, and maintenance etc, we are thrilled you had such a lovely time and we look forward to you visiting again. Property Owner

  • "Very disappointing compared with other sykes lodges."

In need of a lot of basic maintenance ie no recent gas and fire extinguisher maintenance certificate, leaking roof making 1 cupboard unusable as there was such a fausty smell. There was a bowl on top of the cupboard to catch the water which hadn't been emptied for some while and was filthy!! The electric fire cable had to be run on top of the fire in order to be plugged in, huge safety hazzard. The decking outside was rotten in places and the general tidiness outside was poor. We have stayed in Sykes lodges before and they have been far far nicer. Generally disappointing.

Thank you for your comments and Sykes have reached out to you on our behalf to discuss the issues you had so that we can put remedial action in place and we have also brought on another person to manage the property to proactively manage it moving forward. The property is being checked for any remedial action necessary as soon as possible, including any leak, decking and bin area. The electric fire was also temporarily removed until another socket was fitted by an electrician which has been done and the roof/cupboard area has been resolved. We are glad that we have been able to resolve your concerns. The gas cert has been done since your stay and we have provided a copy of this to Sykes. The fire extinguishers have also been recertified October 2024 Property Owner

  • "WHAT A WASTE!"

!! A lovely location with great views BUT……. This could be an absolute gem but there have been repeated reports of serious maintenance failures that have been totally ignored. The settees springs have gone, they are extremely uncomfortable and clearly past their sell by date. There are numerous dangerous areas of rot on the decking with holes and exposed nails and screws. Our dog caught one of his paws in a hole and the same could easily happen to a young child! The shower is STILL very stiff and difficult to control. Additionally, the advert states fridge freezer but there is NO freezer or freezer compartment - very annoying if you’ve taken any freezer food with you. It claims there is Sky Cinema but there is not. The kitchen is not well equipped. For instance, there is no tray for oven cooking chips or anything else and the tin opener doesn’t work. The lodge is generally run down outside and it is clear that the owner does not want to spend a penny on the property. We went home early for a bit of comfort!!! VERY disappointing.

Thank you for the feedback, we will be proactively working with Sykes to resolve issues and we are sorry if you had issues while you were there. We will of course look at the settee. The decking is being checked for remedial action and we will update the advert about the Sky package, Sykes have reached out to you on our behalf and we are glad that we have been able to resolve your complaint fully. The only things that was wrong is decking needs attention a bit dodgy in places and the shower was too hot couldn't alter temperature we did mention it to the lady who cleans the lodges over all we really enjoyed our stay and will definitely come back .

Thank you for your comments, we have an extra property manager towards the end of September and the property will be fully checked including the decking and shower, we are glad you still enjoyed your stay Property Owner

Property was a good base to explore North Wales. Basic accommodation and clean. No frills, Worse thing was the shower (very small and temperature difficult to control). Also disappointed in not having any response from the owner when I sent messages, specially when the shower head broke.

Very nice and quiet location with marvelous view, phantastic terrasse, friendly welcome by James, great offer of TV programs and WLAN, kitchen nicely equipped, double bed not so comfortable, couches in living room very low and not easy for elder people, rain came through the roof and it started smelling a bit, outside barbecue very dirty.

  • "On arrival the lodge was spotlessly clean."

And an ideal place to visit local attractions. But sadly a double oven and a freezer were not there even though advertised as having both. The grill of the barbeque was so dirty we declined from using it . The lodge is looking tired and in need of an upgrade . The decking has gone in holes in several places where the wood has rot. The shower head would not stay up and we had to sort with a screwdriver. The French doors had dropped and the hinge on one side broken so had an inch gap above. Also the curtain hold back was hanging off the wall. We were told that these would be fixed on the Monday sadly the owner was not seen to fix these things even though he visited the site on several occasions. A great shame as it is an ideal place with lovely views.

Welcome hampers ect lodge needs modernised and new sofas put in could feel the springs. View was lush but wouldn't pay that price to stay there again. Not for what is offered.

Thank you for your feedback. The owner was a little surprised at your comments as you appeared to enjoy your stay, and the owner assisted you on a number of occasions during the week , even providing you with a BBQ, but was unable to agree to your request to take a dog a few days before your arrival, as the property is strictly ' pet free'. The owner takes great pride in providing a lovely stay for all guests as you will see from all the great feedback going back to 2006. However, the owner has taken on board your comments regarding the sofas and although they are currently fully functional they are being replaced in the Winter.
