  • "An excellent stay."

The cottage is lovely and welcoming - we felt at home as soon as we stepped in. Really well equipped with lots of thought gone into its practicality. Definitely one of the best we have stayed in. Good communication with the owner and will definitely plan a return visit. Highly recommended.

Thank you for taking the time to review. I’m very happy you enjoyed your stay at the cottage, and I would be very pleased to welcome you back in the future. Property Owner

Hi Mary, I’m happy that you enjoyed enough to want to return at some point. As the cottage is old and small, there is not a lot of storage space, but i will consider how I can incorporate an ironing board. As stated in Sykes cottage information, the front garden is not enclosed to be able to leave a car parking space, but the back garden area is fully enclosed, and has seating areas if wanted. • "We were extremely pleased with this lovely property."

Tucked away in a cosy row of cottages with a fantastic view, from front window, of the fells opposite the peaceful front garden. Inside the well appointed cottage was everything we needed for a warm and stress free week with our 2 dogs. All the modern amenities that we all expect these days were there. The front garden was a pretty and peaceful place to relax with very comfortable garden furniture. Our 2 'golden oldy' dogs were quite happy to stay in garden but as there is no fence across bottom of garden there could be the need for a long line tether for some 'inquisitive' dogs!! There are numerous walks straight from the property and access to a beach which was a lovely surprise too. So, peace and quiet, beautiful views, cosy but spacious cottage with all mod.cons, lovely neighbours, lovely walks without having to keep using the car and a grocery shop within easy walking distance. Also just a few minutes drive into lovely Conwy. We will be back in 2024!!

Thank you for this fantastic review, makes our efforts worthwhile. Will be great to welcome you back again. Property Owner

  • "The cottage is in a rural setting ideal for walkers etc."

We intended to see the area by car due to limited mobility Access is limited to small cars via a narrow lane and narrow bridge over a stream the only way to it Needs some updating but think the owner is keeping the character of the house instead of using modern basic fittings

I’m sorry the cottage was not to your liking. All fixtures and fittings are new and modern and installed in last 3 years. The front door is also relatively new, and I am sorry you struggled to unlock it, but glad I was there to help. I did try to advise you on the best way to manage the bridge access, you responded, that you were a competent driver, and perfectly able to manage the bridge, which although narrow, is wide enough for transit vans. • "Cae Bach is a beautiful cottage in a stunning location and was exceptionally clean and everything we needed."

The owner was very accommodating on our arrival day arranging for us to gain access early due to the extreme heat. I would like to say that I don't think the property is for anyone with slight disabilities or requires a walking aid, the garden path was narrow and very over grown which slightly took the charm away. The owner did also apologise in advance for the building work taking place next door which I said I fully understood but when they woke you with drilling, hacking and banging just after 8am two mornings our holiday lie in was not a pleasurable experience.

I’m really sorry that you found the path too narrow. We do attempt to maintain the foliage to the side of the path, and did cut an obvious bramble back yesterday, but it has been planted to encourage pollinators, birds etc, and therefore we only cut back as much as is necessary, at this time of year, to allow access. If i had known it was causing you problems with access, i would have come and cut it back earlier. I can only apologise again re the building work which started unexpectedly, and am extremely sorry that it caused you disruption. Property Owner

The scenery was amazing from the mountains on the walk to Conwy. It was especially well situated to visit many attractions with the A55 nearby . Our only negative would be the parking which is accessed over a very narrow bridge and then the turning into the parking spot was tight certainly not for the faint hearted - maybe some of the brambles opposite the drive could be cut back a little to give a bit more room to manoevure. There was parking in the road adjacent but sometimes quite full. All in all a very relaxing place to stay.

Sometimes cottages look nice in the photos but in reality they are a bit tired and need refurbishing. This cottage was clean and modern but retained its character. Also the location was even better than we expected. It had the advantage of appearing remote e.g. sheep, hills, a stream yet it was close to local amenities e.g. a very nice pub and a very nice beach. A good central location for touring north Wales.

The cottage was very warm and cosy. There is a log burner as well but we didn't need that. We loved the comfortable bed and the large powerful shower. The kitchen is well equipped and the hosts provide all the basics. The location is rural and there are several walks that you can do with the dogs right from the cottage. The pub at the Fairy Glen is only about 5 minutes walk away and does a good dinner. We have quite a large car and we did struggle getting access to the parking space. You have to manoeuvre over a lovely old bridge but it is very tight. You can park on the road just a minute's walk away. Take a torch as it is dark for a winter stay. We really enjoyed our stray and would recommend the cottage to other guests.

The only thing I would say, is, the beds in the back bedroom were quite large, very comfy, but not a lot of room in the bedroom. The beds could be a little narrower, leaving a bit more room to move around. This is in no way a criticism, the beds and bedding were really lovely,(the duvet was so cosy). The kitchen and bathroom were very of very high standard, and the whole ambience of the cottage was really welcoming. Log burner was a real bonus, and made us all feel at home when it was a bit stormy. We would definitely book again, and even stay a little longer. Thanks for a lovey stay.

The cottage is well situated for people wanting to explore this beautiful area.

The downstairs area is Open Plan with a well equipped kitchen and a comfortable sitting area with wood burner for colder nights.

A dining area is in the attached centrally heated conservatory.

Upstairs there are 2 bedrooms, one with a king-size bed, the other with twin beds that can be linked to make a super king size on request.

A luxurious shower room with walk-in shower and large heated towel radiator completes upstairs.

Outside at the front there is a south facing patio area and “Zen” garden with comfortable furniture to sit and watch the world go by, accompanied by the sound of the tranquil stream, that runs along the front of the property, amidst the beautiful mountain scenery.

At the rear of the property there is an outdoor eating area and a further raised patio area, accessed by steps, where you can choose to sit at the end of the day and watch the sunset.

The back gate has direct access to Conwy Mountain, and the outdoor “playground” that is Snowdonia National park.

Access on foot to Wales coastal paths, Upland(mountain) and lowland(next to the sea) route/cycle path, east to Conwy (up to 2 hours walk depending on fitness levels) or west to Penmaenmawr and Llanfairfechan.

Many other short walks in the area, through woods, over fields with amazing sea views to Puffin island, Anglesey and great Orme.

The sailing club in Penmaenmawr is well established and welcomes day guests.

On the promenade there are plenty of activities together with a beach café which is open most of the year.

There are also beach huts on the promenade you can hire by the day.

Conwy, world famous heritage site, with its medieval castle and walls, Conwy marina and quay, numerous pubs and frequent organised events is within walking distance, also on bus route if you want to leave the car behind.
