  • "Despite the idyllic setting, I’m afraid that we have to warn other potential guests of two major health and safety issues at the property."

They are as follows: • On arrival at the property we noticed a sign over the light switch in the hall that said ‘do not touch’. When having a shower the next day, water was observed pouring down the electric light fitting in the hall. Although the owner sent out a plumber and an electrician, we believe this was a known problem because of the sign on the light switch and also having read previous reviews which refer to a leak in the bathroom. Since the plumber and electrician’s visit, the notice on the light switch has been removed but the source of the problem was not resolved (we were simply told not to use the bath) so I have serious concerns about the safety of future guests. • The fire door was extremely difficult to open and an adult’s full body weight was needed to open it. This door needs to be sanded down as a matter of urgency. In addition, there are some more minor issues which, if fixed, would greatly enhance the property which has the potential of being quite stunning. These issues are: • The step at the top of the stairs is loose • There are loose bolts in both sets of bunk beds and some bolts even fell out during our stay. It’s a good job nobody heave was using these beds which are advertised as suitable for adults. • There are damp patches on the wall in several places in the house. • Two of the bedrooms are open plan so from the top of the bunk beds, you can see into both the other bedroom and the dining/living room. • There is only one dishwasher for a property that sleeps up to 10 and this dishwasher is slim sized. In addition, we were given just 4 dishwasher tablets for a 5 night stay!! • There are not enough bowls and plates for 10 adults. • All the curtains in the vestry are transparent including the ones in the two downstairs bedrooms which means it is difficult for anyone to sleep past 6am. • The front drainpipe is in a heap on the ground in front of where it should be. • The central heating is controlled remotely by the owners and whilst they will amend the settings, it’s not ideal when you wake in the middle of the night in a hot sweat!!! • There are hand soap dispensers with no soap inside.

First and foremost, providing a comfortable and enjoyable experience for our guests is our top priority and feedback serves as a valuable reminder of the importance of maintaining the quality of our accommodation. We are committed to learning from all guest experiences and implementing necessary changes to enhance the overall guest experience. However, we would like the opportunity to shed a little light on the above guest stay and review. In the main bathroom we have a free-standing bath and what has started to happen is guests/ children overflow the levels and water lops over the top. The water then naturally finds its way through the floorboards (being a period property) and through the light fittings below. Our management team attended the house the day before the guest checked in and investigated this further and concluded there was no leak from the shower, bath, or pipes below, however, they forgot to remove the sign on the switch that had been left for their cleaning team, which was only put there strictly as a precautionary measure. There were no safety concerns. The guest then contacted us when they noticed a leak, we immediately got a plumber, electrician, and the management company over to the property that same day. They investigated again, checking everything in the shower from the tile grout, sealant, pipes - everything and no leak. We went back to the guest and asked - did anyone use the bath and they confirmed the children used it the evening before. It then became clear (even the plumber suggested it, having seen water himself) the leak was from the bath overflowing and water being left on the floor and finding its way through the ceiling and then light fitting. Once the group checked out and we were able to investigate further, damage to the bath itself was obvious - Dents all over the inner of the tub - so much so that the tub now needs replacing. The plasterwork next to the bath also had significant chips in it (an inch wide) which were not there before. This inexplicable damage is a great shame and not what we expect of our guests. Additionally, it's important to note that the tone of communication from the guest was confrontational from the outset, with repeated mentions of seeking substantial compensation. Rest assured, all issues mentioned have been thoroughly addressed and rectified, and our holiday let is now fully prepared for the upcoming holiday season, welcoming guests to enjoy our beautiful home without any concerns. • "The location was stunning."

The house was interesting and quirky and had most things we needed but the large room needs more light. We tried to play games on the table but it was impossible to see! We brought bedroom lights down and plugged them in which did make a little difference but an extension lead was needed to allow a lamp to actually sit on the table. This needs sorting. Also in that same room the curtains are very thin and flimsy which allowed light in from the street light , therefore the bedrooms downstairs were not dark enough when all lights were off!

  • "The location is beautiful, the house is lovely."

Its quite quirky. Generally all areas quite clean, but behind furniture was very dusty and dirty and only reason we new that was moving furniture to get the dogs toys when they went under the chairs and settees. Bedrooms downstairs were light and bright and comfortable, double bedroom upstairs was comfortable, two single bedroom sadly was real let down, beds were very creaky and very loud and very uncomfortable, mattress was thin. The room smelt of oil and the main light flicked and switch made crackerling sound when switched on so we didn't use that room after that 1st night which made our sleeping arrangements a little tricky as there were 7 of us. The main bathroom upstairs looked beautiful, but bath was full of dust, and we had trouble with the shower, firstly we couldn't turn it on as fitting was loose then it overflowed onto the bathroom floor! Owner was very helpful and sent someone out to fix problem quickly. Following day it worked ok, day after that we had trouble turning it off! Bathroom downstairs was absolutely fine. There were 2 kitchens we used the one next to small sitting room as oven was bigger, then walked through to other side of house to eat on a really big table that seated all of us. There was only just enough crockery and utensils, we were constantly back and forth between both kitchens which was fine just a little annoying. We really enjoyed the area it was great position close to where we wanted to visit, so in that sense I feel the rating we give is difficult, we had a great time and really enjoyed our short vacation, we travelled with our elderly parents and I suppose that's where the property let us down, it was difficult for them. We just felt the house need a good clean and some of furniture was old and not very comfortable. Sorry for grumpy review.

  • "We had a lovely stay in a lovely location."

I'm not sure I would reccomend this to a larger and louder hen party as the location is very quiet. Thankfully we where not too noisey and had an overall very comfortable experience. I particularly liked that there where two kitchen areas so that we could prepare food away from the main entertainment/sleeping area. It was absolutely perfect for what we wanted and really enjoyed the scenic location. If I was going to make one suggestion, I would maybe put some more lighting (a couple of lamps maybe) in the main larger area.

Loved our stay at Ty Chapel Vestry, only a couple of things , could do with better seating outside as the property accommodates 10, And the light in the downstairs bathroom didn’t work , changed the bulb but not joy Apart from that it was gorgeous there close to everything would definitely recommend , could do with a professional clean to remove cobwebs from the super high ceiling’s too ☺️

  • "Had a lovely break at Ty Capel with 3 generations, this quirky property suited us well and had lots of space."

Location is perfect if you want peace and quiet while still being just a short drive from coast/beach, Conwy Castle, Llandudno and so much more. Perfect for larger families/groups. Only suggestion for the owner would be to check the crockery and cooking utensils. There were only six of us and although we managed and understand that not everyone wants to cook whilst on holiday we needed to cater for allergies so it was essential. A few extra plates/dishes would have been useful, also some plastic ware for outdoors. All in all we had a great time and wouldn't hesitate to return.

About the location

CONWY

Llandudno 5 miles; Betws-y-Coed 16 miles.

Conwy, a World Heritage Site, is without doubt world famous for its historical and architectural heritage, yet at the heart of the town lies a hub of bustling activity. Alongside its ancient festivals and fairs, musical recitals, galleries and historical attractions, there is an array of specialist shops, restaurants and hotels. Built for King Edward I between 1283 and 1287, Master James of St George's design, Conwy Castle remains one of the most outstanding achievements of medieval military architecture. The distinctive, elongated shape, with its two barbicans, eight massive towers and a great bow-shaped hall was perhaps determined by the narrow rocky outcrop on which the castle stands. The town is proud of its historic traditions and celebrates its past by retaining many of these in its annual festivals, events and fairs, including the Honey fair, Seed fair and Gwledd Conwy Feast in October, along with other musical events throughout the year. Conwy is the perfect base for exploring the dramatic Snowdonia National Park, walking unspoilt sandy beaches, or taking in the wonderful scenery on your doorstep. Also within reach are the Llechwedd Slate Caverns, which has the longest zip wire in Europe, and Surf Snowdonia is just six miles away.
