  • "I went here for my birthday with my children and grandchildren."

We all had a lovely time! It's very cosy and extremely well equipped, the owner (John I believe) has thought of everything! Plenty of logs for the fire (After seeing other reviews I took extra but didn't really need them) I love how you can quite literally go out of the back door and you're in the mountains! We didn't get chance to venture up the mountain due to having a small baby with us so I would love to go return one day. This is perfect for ramblers and hikers!

  • "We had a lovely time at Barlwyd terrace."

It's a Lovely little cosey cottage with lots to do in the area. Dispite the rain we made the most from our 5 day stay. The log burner was a nice touch although we spent a fortune keeping it going and could never get the heating to a warm temperature which meant no hot water to wash the pots. We had to use the fan heater and oil radiators provided. The only let down was the cleanliness. From the kitchen to the bathroom. It hadn't been cleaned from what we experienced and also found in the bin. Our double bed had a huge dirty footprint on the mattress sheet and we didn't really want to use the towels provided. Just needs a little TLC inside in areas.

  • "Absolutely loved our stay at Barlwyd Terrace."

The cottage is so cosy and clean had everything you could possibly need. I loved the location as everywhere is so easy to get to and the scenery is out of this world. I would definitely stay there again. We had a lovely few days.

  • "Fabulous little cottage with the river rushing past."

Such a relaxing sound to go to sleep to. Cottage was lovely and clean. Very cozy. Loved the smell of the bed linen as I went to sleep. Well equipped kitchen, and lots of homely touches throughout the place. Lots of places to visit nearby. Harlech castle, Portmerion village, Bodnant garden (beautiful even on a very soggy day) and a trip on the steam train is a must. Went to Oakley arms hotel for dinner every evening. Delish food and great service. Definitely didn't go hungry there. A fabulous holiday, thanks very much.

Great base to explore North Wales. Comfy, homey, dog friendly. Owner very thoughtful and has ensured that the cottage has everything you need! Would return next time we are visiting!

Beautiful surroundings and a lovely cosy cottage. A real home from home with everything you might need provided. The steam train running behind the cottage was amazing! A great place to relax will definitely be back!

  • "Great location for exploring."

There where a few times I needed antibacterial spray due to our dog. I bought some and left it there. Generally a cosy cottage. I loved the louvre window panels but the river noise either put me to sleep or kept me awake. Wished there was a dedicated parking spot . Got a lot of excerise walking down the road to park. No idea where to best keep the recycle bins so left by the front door. Could not find instructions to use the electric hob or washing machine - needed to look up on Google to use. Good dog friendly. Fire alarm very sensitive for just normal toast. Heard neighbours going off as well. Could sympathise.

  • "Lovely house, my children loved sleeping in the loft room."

I was a bit disappointed being left out of date bread and a opened milk in the fridge. Fridge could do with being bigger. It was fine for two nights but any longer it would not be big enough. Over all a great stay and would definitely come back again.

Everything we could have asked for and more. Exactly as described and the surrounding area was stunning. Didn’t want to go home at the end of the week.

  • "Our first trip to Wales!"

The location is perfect, nestled away in a quiet location with easy reachable amenities. The property is perfectly suited to our needs, we are outdoor walking types and it catered for all our needs. The fuel burning stove was perfect! We stayed early November and if you want that get away slightly out of season this is the place to be! You are centrally located and with easy reach of Snowden, Caernarfon, Porthmadog and lots of other smaller villages. Our host was great as is the property, we also meet the owner who was very amiable and pleasant. We would give the property and location 5 stars for us. A perfect restful, peaceful and relaxing property.

  • "Hi John. We had a great time at your cottage."

And we can see how much thought through everything was, loved the decor. Siri, Alexa and Netflix were a big draw, we also enjoyed playing board games. Location was also perfect, away from the bustles of Blaenau but still stone throwaway distance for all needs, not to forget the stream running past :-) would highly recommend.

  • "A cosy, comfortable small getaway in a quiet location that's great for the coast and hills, some from the door."

The slate trail and the old mines are interesting nearby so if you like a bit of social history this is perfect. Perfect for 2 max 4 at a pinch, with only a small area for sitting that would struggle above that. Very clean overall, logs left for a fire when you arrive, biscuits, tea, coffee etc. No complaints at all. Not a lot in the village so don't expect to wander down the road to the pub but this is a nice little cottage for a week exploring Snowdonia and its history

  • "We had a lovely weekend in the heart of Snowdonia."

The cottage was especially lovely, John goes the extra mile to ensure the cottage has lovely touches for guests. The sceneries were extraordinary, we took a steam train from Porthmadog to Tan-y-Bwlch (Woodland Wonderer) - I would definitely recommend. We also took a trip to Criccieth Beach which our is dog friendly (our Border Collie loved it). All in all, a lovely weekend and I would recommend to others and definitely return. Thank you John :)

Location is good for visiting other areas but the little town in which we stayed is run down and no decent places to go.

Only minor gripe would be the sound bar/TV/DVD were v temperamental which given the cottage is a long way from pubs or facilities and we had a family gave evenings limited options.

The location is very pretty and the cottage is surrounded by mountains with plenty of beautiful walks straight from the front door.
