  • "We had a lovely break in this gorgeous cottage, with plenty of facilities, a lovely wood burner."

A very roomy bed room, a well equipped kitchen. There were lots of lovely goodies around the cottage for both our selves and Oscar a four legged friend. The weather was not the best to enable us to sit outside but outside seating both back and front. A very quite location. Totally recommend the accommodation, there is a lovely lakeside cafe a few minutes walk away. An ideal spot for both local walks and a base for other local destinations.

Thank you Teena for your lovely feedback and kind comments. We are so pleased you (and Oscar) had a great time and enjoyed your stay. Stay safe and we hope to welcome you all back in the future. Regards, Angie and Rich x Property Owner

Easily placed for exploring the whole of Snowdonia, Anglesey and much more. The local shops stock all the essentials too. Angie and Rich were on hand should we need them, but the cottage was perfect and the little welcoming touches made such a difference. Brilliant for dogs too, they even got their own goodies too! Came back totally relaxed. Would highly recommend and will visit again.

The cottage is one of the nicest I've stayed in. The decor and furniture are of a very high standard. Lot's of treats left for us and our dog on arrival which was very kind and the milk was very thoughtful. Very well equipped with everything needed for our stay. The shower was very powerful and the bed extremely comfortable. Ample walks from the doorstep and short car journeys to the beaches at Porthmadog and Criccieth. Close to Mt. Snowden and Betws y Coed. We had a wonderful week of walking and climbing in glorious sunshine. We will definitely be returning and can highly recommend staying at the cottage.

Everything about this cottage says its owners know what they are doing when it come to holiday lets. The cottage is wonderfully situated for exploring the Snowdonia area and the North Wales coast. Plenty of room for 2 people and 2 dogs. On 1 occasion were couldn't park our car as the parking spaces were all taken and you cannot park directly in front of the cottage as you would block the road. To be honest this wasn't really a problem for us. Its located in a beautiful area with plenty to see.

About the location

TANYGRISIAU

Blaenau Ffestiniog 1.1 miles; Porthmadog 8 miles; Betws-y-Coed 15 miles; Beddgelert 16 miles.

Tanygrisiau, meaning "below the steps", refers to the stepped cliffs above this traditional Welsh village. The Moelwyn mountains protect the village from much of the northerly gales in the winter, and give it a pleasant southerly aspect with relatively mild weather considering its location high in Snowdon. The village stands amongst dramatic scenery, and Tanygrisiau is a good starting point for many walks, especially if your intention is to climb Moelwyn itself. Tanygrisiau was famous for its slate mining, producing a high quality black slate that was used across the world. Tanygrisiau railway station is on the famous Ffestiniog Railway, a narrow gauge railway built to carry slate from the mines down to the sea at Porthmadog; today it is a renowned tourist attraction providing stunning views on its trip to the coast. Only 1.1 miles away is Blaenau Ffestiniog, once the capital of slate quarrying and in the 18th century known as the "City of Slate". The town stands in an elevated, natural bowl amidst this mountainous region and has a good variety of shops and pubs, but is best known for its tourist attractions. One of the old quarries is now the renowned Llechwedd Slate Cavern. The famous narrow gauge Ffestiniog Railway provides wonderful trips through spectacular countryside. Enjoy superb walks and bike trails at Coed-y-Brenin, one of the best mountain bike centres in Britain, as well as good climbing at the Plas y Brenin National Mountain Centre, wonderful sandy beaches, or great fishing or golf. Visit delightful Betws-y-Coed, the Italianate Village at Portmeirion, or Bala, with its renowned white water rafting opportunities.
