  • "Your letter to us said there bedding would be provided but the owner asked us to bring our own."

The owner was very friendly and helpful. The cooker hood did not work. There was a lot of dust and cobwebs which considering COVID suggested a proper clean had not been carried out. The property was very spacious and provided for our needs.

  • "This lovely cottage and its charming owner were a delight to visit."

Well-equipped and comfortable, it's really like a home-from-home - the kids said the beds were more comfy than their ones at home! It's set in a peaceful village but within easy reach of many of the delights of the area, and makes a wonderful retreat at the end of a busy day out and about. The gardens and field are great for running off some energy, and although the owner lives on site just next door we had complete privacy but also the benefit of knowing we had access to local intelligence on hand too. The best of all worlds. The cottage was clean and warm, and the wifi coped with four demanding devices admirably. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend a stay here, we had a lovely week :)

  • "Adorable cottage in a idyllic village."

The cottage had everything you could require, very quaint and cosy and in these circumstances felt very safe. We were left a bottle of Prosecco for our arrival. Warm welcome from the owner and nothing was too much trouble. Really enjoyed our little chats and her local knowledge was a great help. Our first time to the area and will certainly be back. Tilston is a good base to explore the area. We had a fantastic holiday - couldn’t have asked for more. Highly recommend Stable Cottage.

  • "Stable cottage is in a lovely quiet rural setting."

The owner lives in the attached property and is on hand if you have any problems. I especially enjoyed sitting outside in the courtyard area overlooking the lovely garden at breakfast with no more sounds than the birds coming to the perfectly positioned bird table. The owner has ensured this cottage is stocked with everything needed for a very comfortable, relaxing break. I would certainly return to stable cottage again.

About the location

TILSTON

Malpas 4.5 miles; Whitchurch 10 miles; Chester 14 miles.

The village of Tilston is situated on the upper reaches of the River Dee, located between the medieval city of Chester and the market town of Whitchurch. Close by is the Carden Park Hotel with a superb 5 star leisure spa and golf course. Chester is just 14 miles away, and this Roman city has quite rightly been described as 'the jewel of the North-West of England'. Perhaps the most fascinating aspect of the city is that within a very small area there is evidence of every period of history - from the old walls and amphitheatre of Roman times, through medieval churches, Elizabethan timber-framed town houses and Georgian terraces, to Victorian restorations and 21st century architecture. The City has much to offer the tourist, including excellent shopping in the famous 'Rows', and lovely walks around the old Roman Walls, along The Groves beside the River Dee or through the picturesque Grosvenor Park. Further afield, the stunning Welsh mountains and coastline, and the market towns and villages of Cheshire, Shropshire and Wrexham are all within easy touring distance, whilst the nearby Wirral Peninsula has many splendid courses to tempt the golfing enthusiast.
