  • "The cottage was a delight, yes the low ceilings upstairs were a bit of a challenge but we'd been warned so no problem."

The kitchen is one of the best equipped I've come across in over 50 years of renting holiday cottages and all the extras provided by the owner in the way of handwash and soap etc. were a bonus. They also sell delicious fresh eggs. Despite the weather we had a great time, I would also recommend the Ship Inn in Llanbedrog for food. Their pizzas and lasagne along with other meals were excellent.

There were touring caravans in the field above the garden but we never heard any noise from them and wouldn't have known they were there. We had a very relaxing holiday, and the setting was amazing it felt as if we were in the middle of nowhere, with the convenience of everything we needed just a short car ride away. Many thanks to the owners.

One criticism I would have...... If you are a tall person this place may not be for you, I am 5'8 and caught my head a couple of times on the bedroom/bathroom ceiling. The stairs also could be a problem for older people. Hope this helps. P s the owners of this cottage could not e more helpful.

The welcome tea tray and fresh flowers in the lounge were much appreciated. We found the owners Carol & Steve so kind and helpful but not intrusive, advising us on the area & even lending us a detailed map. Everything was beautifully presented and comfortable, a pleasant lounge with lovely views, well equipped kitchen and dining room, delightful bedroom with walk in wardrobe and a superb bathroom with shower. We didn't mind the sloping ceilings upstairs ( we have them at home ) and they added to the charm of the cottage. It was so quiet & peaceful and centrally located for travelling to all parts of the peninsula with each little beach different from another. The tiny lanes took some getting used to but the views everywhere were marvellous. We were fortunate to see the peninsula at its best having lovely weather too.

  • "The cottage was in a great location for visiting all around the Peninsula."

Views were excellent, extremely quiet at night not a sound could be heard. The only problem we had was flies in the bedroom. They seemed to be coming out from under the roof space through the spotlight fittings. On one day alone we killed around 50. We informed the owners and they said that there had not been any problems with flies before! We can only assume that with the weather being hot it was time for hatching and we were unfortunate to be there at that time. On the whole the cottage was clean, comfortable and like a home from home with everything you needed for cooking etc.

  • "The position of Lon Goch cottage enables you to travel easily on the Lynn peninsula to most of the well known and little known beaches and thus to the coastal walks."

The cottage itself was very comfortable with lovely owners who were only too happy to help or please. The shower had blocked and was sorted later that day while we were out. As They said, as long as they know of a problem they can fix it. This was a very peaceful place to be. You can't hear traffic much most of the time. When it gets dark you can see so many stars as there is little false lighting around you. The garden area was quite adequate for our needs but we were just the two of us. Children might require more space which you won't get till you travel to one of the beaches. Tall hedgerows prevent sightseeing from the road if walking the dog, plus it doesn't allow for a run for the dog when at the cottage. So again you have to travel to achieve this. However in any direction within 15/20 minutes you are at a beach, all the beaches we went to allowed dogs on a lead and then further on a place for them to run, to be off the lead. You can't as a rule allow your dog off the lead in fields because of livestock, but on most of the coastal walks we were able to allow our dog off the lead most of the time.

  • "In Lon Goch Cottage it was just possible to get a dodgy wifi connection using the BT-Fon wifi app from the neighbours wifi modem next door, but you needed to be virtually pressed up against the dividing wall between the properties - then again it was a slow connection, but it worked for emails at least!"

Luckily I am a BT customer at home... We liked Lon Goch Cottage (Lon Goch = Red Lane in Welsh we were told), its location and the friendly owner who was there whenever we needed her. We used two pubs for meals locally, the Lion in Tudweiliog and Y Bryncynan near to Morfa Nefyn, in August both were full of holidaymakers and busy, but still served good meals after a 30-40 minute wait. We were also lucky to get a table in the Weatherspoons Pub in Pwllheli called Pen Cob one night. This is near the railway station. Good choice of food and cheap drinks. We liked the landscape of the Lleyn Peninsula and will return for sure. Caernarfon is one hour away almost by car and a gateway to Snowdonia and the excellent Welsh Highland Railway which we travelled on two days. It doesn't take quite that long to drive to Porthmadog where the railway runs too.

We will definitely be returning in the near future, as it was such a peaceful and relaxing holiday, and in such a beautiful part of Wales.
