  • "What a fantastic cottage!"

The pictures hardly ever look like the reality but in this case, real life surpassed the pictures. We stayed for a week with friends and our dog and had an amazing time. The location is spot on with so many things to do so close by, even the ability to walk to a beach. Weather was lovely too and the log burner was fabulous to take away the evening chill. The fellas enjoyed the games room! Loved every minute and will be booking again. Thank you for this gem of a cottage.

A lovely little complex of cottages, where a lot of thought has gone in to creating private views from each of the properties, and the quality of the furnishings was excellent. The location was brilliant, just a short drive into Porthmadog or down to Black Rock Sands. We were lucky and had excellent weather, just cold. Only comment would be, some reading lights in the conservatory area would have been useful. Would thoroughly recommend,

We were greeted by the owner who was on site and was happy to help. The farmhouse is one of three properties and each one is private. We overlooked fields and it was so peaceful. There’s a resident peacock and a nearby alpaca to spot. The house was comfortable for 2 adults and 2 older children. We took our 3 dogs that enjoyed the large garden. Be mindful if you have a dog with no recall as one line of the garden is near the road. Thankfully our 3 were well behaved. We had a bbq most evenings, lovely places to visit nearby and nice beaches. Would definitely recommend Garth Morthin holiday let’s

  • "The property was gorgeous!"

The only real issue was the downstairs of the barn was so cold the whole time I was there even though we had the fire burning. Upstairs was warm but downstairs was cold. There were no blankets anywhere to wrap up in and I tried to turn the heating up but it didn’t work. It did put a slight downer on an otherwise great break.

Thank you for your feedback Jo, we’d love you to come stay again. Sorry about the experience you had with the heating, we weren't aware of this. The cottage is usually always very warm and each room has a thermostat. I would have been more than happy to assist you with the heating straight away if you had let me know. Thank you, Paul. • "The pictures don't do the farm house justice."

We had a lovely stay. The property size was very ample for 2 adults and 2 children. You need to get use to ducking under doorways as this is a traditional farm house. The panoramic conservatory was amazing. We were treated to a late night thunderstorm over the Irish Sea. Sitting in the conservatory with the lights off made viewing memorable. Only niggling thing was the upstairs bathroom was way too dark and the extractor fan didn't appear to work. Porthmadog was an excellent base to explore North Wales from. Many facilties and services available such there.

Thank You very much for your feedback. Im really pleased your enjoyed your stay. A wire came loose on the bathroom extractor which was fixed straightaway and i have had new lights fitted in the bathroom which are now 4 lights instead or two. A bulb was out on the existing lights but I've had them all replaced anyway. Thank You Paul Property Owner

If you are taller than 5'11 be prepared to duck quite a bit though! Games room is a nice bonus. Read directions to property carefully as our Satnav took us the long way around. Fantastic views and Black Rock Caves are in walking distance. Keep an eye out for Pete the Peacock, who wandered in to say hello when we had the conservatory doors open.

Underfloor heating downstairs which was nice in the evenings and both bathrooms have excellent showers. The location is great and the views from the property are just amazing. The property had just been cleaned when we arrived, it was pretty clean though the only slight negative was the amount of cob webs everywhere, I know it’s an old farmhouse but it would’ve been much nicer without them! Would we stay again, most definitely!

  • "A wonderful place to stay."

Tucked up out of the way behind the hill of black rock sands with views you can only dream of. We were lucky as our visit was during the spring so also had the entertainment of the new lambs in our view. The property is as described-on a courtyard with 2 other rental properties. The games room is fully stocked of books and dvds, should the weather turn (!). Showers are great-good heat and power and there are plenty of cutlery/plates/glasses for a family of four. Beds are comfortable, but I do warn the the double bed is very high. I’m 5’8 and my feet dangled when sitting on the edge of the bed.

The walk to the beach was twenty minutes away and the drive into town ten minutes in the other direction, but you felt completely away from it all. Sitting in the conservatory surrounded by fields and sheep made you feel like you were outside but with a real fire and underfloor heating it was stunning and so relaxing!!! The cottage had everything you could possibly need and was spotlessly clean we cant wait to go back.

  • "Great location , quiet out the way with great views."

House was warm and welcoming with all that you need to keep the family entertained .The only suggestions I could give to improve the stay would be some kind of blinds or screen to the sides of the gigantic conservatory for a bit more privacy from the walkers and passing cars.Secondly an issue raised with a previous holiday review ,for the need to put some kind of fencing along the road edge of the garden. To stop the dogs jumping down. But these are just improvements that could be made to improve on what was a great relaxing break with a massive beach down the road .The property and games room meet all our expectations with a great selection of DVD's to chill out in the evenings with or a good book to loose your self in.I would not hesitate on rebooking this lovely property In a great location .

  • "The position of this property is absolutely perfect!"

The views through the glass walls are stunning and you feel like you are in the middle of nowhere, yet you are only 5 minutes away from every possible amenity in Porthmadog. The perfect base to explore coast and mountains. The house is packed with traditional character but has been modernised to make life as easy as possible. With the exception of the kitchen, every room is spacious and contains plenty of storage. The kitchen is very narrow, preventing more than one person from being involved in the cooking, but it does contain everything you could need, including modern oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, a large fridge/freezer, and plenty of cutlery, crockery and utensils. The garden has wonderful panoramic views with a spacious patio, and is positioned for maximum privacy - you are not overlooked at all by the other two properties on the grounds. There were two negatives for us: Firstly, the creaky floorboards upstairs. This sounds minor, but the loudness of the creak with every step you take in both bedrooms and the landing never fails to wake the entire household. Not great if people go to bed at different times or need to visit the bathroom in the night. Secondly, the property would benefit from a few fans - the internal temperature was over 30 degrees Celsius for the majority of time we were there. This meant we had to keep the glass doors constantly open, and this allowed the flies, wasps, butterflies, bees, and ever dragonflies in. I am not exaggerating when I say that we swept up more than 50 dead winged creatures every day. The property was absolutely spotless on arrival, but it soon lost its clean feeling with the onslaught of so many bugs - no food could be left uncovered for even a few minutes. Nothing some decent fans couldn't fix. Overall, the positives definitely outweigh the negatives and we thoroughly enjoyed our holiday.

Stay put and relax on the sunny terrace or enjoy the walk down to the sea. Its about the same distance from Criccieth and Porthmadog (those wishing to have lots of kit on the beach can take the car onto the sands). If you want lovely beaches without cars head to Morfa Buchan or Borth y Gest and wander along the coastal path until you find your favourite spot. Or drive west to Abersoch. The mountain goats are just a short drive to Beddgelert and the splendours of Snowdonia.

The only thing that may have help would have been a welcome booklet for the the faculties' and information about the local area would have been useful, however this did not hinder our experience, just a recommendation for the owner for their future guests.
