  • "On whole the house had everything we needed."

What let it down was the firststairs case and second staircase they were stepper than expected. The bathroom was very small. And dated. Every morning we were woken to the buses going up the street from the bus depot at the bottom of road around 6.30am. The parking is not properly explained. Unable to park near property and was told there was parking for us at the community pub but when asked at the pub they knew nothing about it. When we got parked near to house we had difficulty get out because they parked there cars very near. The worst was on coming back from one of our days out and realising the property had been entered without our knowledge or permission it was very disturbing to us.

Thank you for your feedback- it good to know that the house overall had everything you needed. We are sorry if the stairs were an issue for you; we have made sure that photo 9 clearly shows the incline of both staircases, and the upper floor 'paddle' stairs are mentioned twice in the description of the property. We also provide two stair-gates, one fixed and one removable. We are not sure where the confusion around parking came from. We do provide instructions both in our welcome text and in the house file. However, following your difficulty we will include instructions in our booking information. We have been given permission for guests to park at the Community pub. and have recently confirmed that this continues. Finally, we are sorry that you were disturbed by the housekeeping team coming in to replace a damp hallway mat in your absence. We have spoken to them and they felt it was OK in the circumstances, as they had explained in person that they would be providing a new mat and did knock on the front door before entering. However, this is not our usual arrangement - they would normally try to reach us or the guest for permission to enter. We do hope that the incident did not spoil your overall experience and thank you for visiting Penmaen House. Property Owner

  • "What particularly impressed was the speed and efficiency with which a couple of unavoidable issues with the property were dealt with."

A kettle that stopped working was replaced in a matter of hours. A serious plumbing problem likewise was dealt with swiftly with no inconvenience to ourselves. I’ve stayed in many holiday cottages and have never known issues to be dealt with so quickly. Thank you.

  • "When we made the booking we hadn’t realised just how steep the stairs to the attic room are."

One of the adult guests sustained several bruises to her legs during the weeks stay and her husband stumbled down them. We thought the property had 2 bathrooms and that was the main reason we choose Penman House over something else close by, but we quickly discovered the 2nd bathroom is actually a downstairs WC with sink! The front door looks like it hasn’t been cleaned down in several months, maybe longer, together with the overgrown plant at the front and recycling boxes full from the previous guests, arriving at the property last Saturday was a little disappointing. The bed linen was good, as was the kitchen and generally the rest of the house was surface clean, but the bathroom needs to be done better particularly the blinds and outside around the toilet pan. Cleaning the outside of the front windows once a month would certainly lift the property too. The cushions in the lounge leaked feathers every evening. Parking was fine during our stay, which was something we had concerns about before arriving. Whilst the house is small and a bit tricky for 2 families, it’s in a nice location for exploring north Wales and a lovely walk to local Trefor Beach. Overall score would probably be around 7 out of 10.

I am sorry to hear you experienced issues with the attic room stairs during your stay at Penmaen House. It does clearly state on the website that the attic room has paddle stairs and is only suitable for children aged 9 and above and adults without mobility issues. It is also highlighted and explained further in the description in red on the website. The description also reads that there is a cloakroom, with a basin and toilet, as well as the bathroom - apologies if you missed this Thank you for the information regarding the front door and the bathroom. This will be fed back to the housekeeping team. We are glad you enjoyed the holiday location and found no issues with the parking - always good to hear. Property Owner

  • "We fell in love with Trefor and the environs."

Such a friendly place and stunning countryside. The cottage was lovely just slightly difficult to park on the days we were there, though apparently this is unusual.

  • "Feel quite sad leaving this feedback."

Everything about the cottage was fantastic. Spotlessly clean, very comfortable, every facility you can imagine, great location for exploring the Llyn Peninsular. Parking however appears to be a major issue for two of the neighbours. ALL of the other neighbours were lovely, friendly, helpful, and pleased that we were staying in their small community.

  • "We stayed at Penmaen House for a week and were delighted with our choice of accomodation."

We had a wonderful stay and definitely picked the right week weather wise. Great location for exploring Anglesey, Snowdonia mountains, Llyn Peninsula and Porthmadoc area. Small sleepy village away from the main road which was appealing to us. We didn't want a touristy town. The house has got lovely interiors and a well equipped kitchen ... even more appliances than mentioned on the website. Great communication from the owner via text ahead of our stay in case we had any questions. So overall a great find, we would highly recommend the house to friends and family.
