  • "Our second visit, and the Lambing Shed was very good again !"

Only 2 problems: we couldn't get the dishwasher to work, and the last section of the approach road has deteriorated considerably, and needs a lot of holes filling-in.

Easy to walk and cycle from and had shed for bike storage. Very well equipped kitchen and lots of maps and local leaflets and books on the surrounding areas. Milk and Welsh cakes included! Good shower, extra toilet and utility area. Comfy beds and warm rooms with individual thermostats. Large patio area, would be lovely in summer. As mentioned by others kitchen taps need changing and larger kitchen bin.

Beautiful location with plenty of paths for dog walking. Lovely cottage - we enjoyed our stay very much. The Owners provided lots of tourist information which was very useful. It was very dark when walking through kitchen to bedrooms with the only light switch being up the steps to the second bedroom. With having an active dog we had to keep the intervening door closed at all times. We did discover the plug-in night light which helped. Would recommend this cottage to friends and family.

The single bed was a little uncomfortable but the double was fine. Lovely location and accessible to many places along the coast. Talacre Beach was only 10 minutes away and ideal for our dog. Very nice touch leaving Welsh cakes and milk for our arrival, too. Thanks, would definitely come back!

.The Shower was brilliant .Got online ok ,phone signal was a bit hit and miss the 1st day but after that ,was no problem Our 2 cockapoos, Moose and Daisy enjoyed the courtyard, I felt they were quite safe in there ,but on one occasion,Moose did manage to squeeze through the gate post at the front gates ,this was solely because my husband was on the other side waiting for a taxi ,( to watch the match at Y Bodunig Inn £15 each way ) Moose had never tried to squeeze through it before ,and he didn’t attempt it again after that one time ,but it did make me more aware .We picked a brilliant week weather wise .You obviously need a car ,but Prestatyn beach is not to far away ,and dogs are allowed on most of the beaches ,they loved running into the sea ,be careful though as there was some very large Jelly Fish . Had a lovely week and would definitely recommend The Lambing Shed ,and would definitely book here again Thank you for the Milk and Welsh Cakes Thank you for having us ,Sue ,Steve ,Moose and Daisy

Had everything we needed for a comfortable week away. Great outside space with large patio area but beware the ‘shared use of meadow’ is shared with sheep, so not suitable for letting the dog off lead. Nice walks from the cottage, good beaches close by (Talacre great for dog) and good pubs for eating out.

The cottage had a mix of traditional and modern decor meaning the cottage was tastefully decorated and furnished but had the added benefit of newer technology that made our stay more comfortable. Great location to explore North Wales from. Most enjoyed catching the morning rays whilst eating my breakfast on the patio which had sun from morning until night and listening to the sounds of the Welsh countryside.

  • "Really enjoyed our holiday at the lambing shed and were fortunate With glorious sunny welsh weather!"

The cottage itself is fairly small esp the second bedroom (which suits 2 small children) but has a wonderful patio outside which is private and surrounded by the most beautiful scenery to eat alfresco and relax. The location is quiet and peaceful with lots of areas to explore by car & lovely walks from the doorstep. We didn’t feel the properly was 5 star in our opinion for a couple of reasons, 1. It wasn’t as clean as we would expect & basic supplies were limited ie 3 dishwasher tabs, tiny bin, no washing up liquid or toiletries 2. It lacks that high quality finish. Furniture is cheap & cheerful, sofa uncomfortable & Soft furnishings basic. We didn’t find it particularly comfortable or cosy and it lacks that comfortable luxury feel compared to most 5 star properties we’ve stayed (this could easily be rectified with abit of tlc & updating). This is possible down to Sykes and there rating standards not being particularly well benchmarked across there cottages. Overall we enjoyed our stay and were out most days visiting local beaches & sights. The owners were lovely & welcoming & the cottage itself and surroundings are fabulous. We would be happy to visit again in the summer and use as a bolt-hole for visiting north wales if the price was right.

Our cottage was clearly not to our customer's taste but I have already responded to the complaint about cleanliness and shortage of supplies, to apologise, as this is clearly not acceptable. We have had a word with our cleaner and will ensure this does not happen again. But some matters we cannot do much about, eg the tiny bin. It is small but fits in the under-sink cupboard. We did consider the alternative of a bin which stands in the kitchen but did not choose this option as it would block cupboards. I am grateful for the feedback however as it enables us to address the shortcomings. Property Owner

Felt the garden needed a bit of TLC. The outside picture of the patio area needs updating as I booked on the description of patio overlooking a lovely meadow, not possible as a hedge is there now. But this did not spoil our holiday.

I am grateful for this feedback. The garden did need a bit of TLC but we had been away for 5 weeks and returned at the end of this customer's stay, when we were able to remedy matters. And yes the beech hedge has grown but we do keep it at a level which allows customers to see over but prevents dogs jumping out. We will provide more up to date photos to ensure customers are aware of the conditions now. Property Owner

We visited in November and storm Arwen hit the area. Unfortunately, on the last evening of our stay, there was a power cut but the owners, who live opposite, kindly checked in on us and provided batteries for torches and brought us a flask of hot water on the morning when we were checking out, even though they also were being affected by the power cut. We are a family of four with two kids aged 11 and 5 and this was perfect. They had their own comfy room whilst we had a very spacious double room. Pictures don't really do it justice - it's much bigger than it looks and the facilities and provisions far exceeded anywhere we've stayed before. Large outdoor area for playing, eating and entertaining guests in a very peaceful setting. Owners popped over once to check everything was Ok and made us feel at home. They're just across the road, but you wouldn't know it as the cottage and most of the rooms/patio area are to the rear, making it feel very private. First day there, we decided we were going to come back next year - can't say much more than that.

Andrea and Andy ( The owners) were very helpful and friendly. Our dogs loved being able to run free in the field next to the cottage. The cottage is nicely secluded but not too far away from everything. Will be returning to The Lambing Shed in the future.

  • "The directions to the cottage are extremely accurate and precise, please don't try any other route."

The cottage is very private and quite isolated, just what we wanted. We only saw one of the owners once, and 2 ladies on horseback in the whole week. This is probably one of the best sites on Sykes Cottages.

  • "The Lambing Shed is a very comfortable, well equipped cottage."

We (2 adults, 2 children aged 4 & 5 and 2 small dogs) stayed just for a weekend which wasn’t long enough. We would definitely like to stay there again hopefully for a bit longer next time with fingers crossed better weather!

  • "The cottage is like home from home with lots of additional extras which you normally have to bring with you ie hairdryer hand wash tea towels etc - lovely furnishings and comfy beds - the garden is not fully secure for a dog (we took a long lead) but the owners have thought of this and put an extendable lead which can be tethered in a few placed in the garden."

There is a washing machine, dyer, iron, ironing board etc everything you dont want to use on your holiday but may need in an emergency :) Its in a very tranquil place and would love to visit again in the summer

  • "We have just returned from a weeks holiday in the Lambing Shed which we thoroughly enjoyed."

The cottage and facilities description were accurate, which had enabled us to select this property to meet our needs, mainly walking and somewhere to totally relax on an evening. The cottage was immaculately clean, with everything you could require for a week away from home. The location was quiet, with the patio area secure to enable our dog the freedom to go outside when he felt the need. Prestatyn and Rhyl are only 4 miles away(with excellent clean beaches to walk the dog), and Snowdon less than an hours drive. We collected a free walkers guide for the area from the tourist information in Rhyl, which detailed numerous walks around the area. I cannot recommend the Lambing shed enough, and we will certainly be returning next year.
