  • "I have known the existence of this holiday cottage for years and wanted to stay largely due to many positive reviews."

Initial reactions on being shown in by the owner were good. Spacious and warm and clean. I think what stuck in my mind was seeing pictures of an Aga and reading comments from previous holiday makers about the lovely warmth it gave. It's been replaced by a very lovely electric range which is only warm whilst in use. The night storage heaters are not adequate for such an old stone dwelling and several were not working at all. A little kindling and wood is provided but would only be sufficient for up to two short evenings. After that you have to buy your own logs which we were reluctant to do for several reasons. Basic warmth and continual ongoing warmth should be included at the owners expense. The en suite bedroom smells of damp (from the shower) and there's a lot of damp in the conservatory. We weren't really able to use the conservatory due to the very wet and windy weather which was a shame as the sofa in there is more comfortable than the one in the living room. Overall it wasn't a bad holiday and the place is ok overall. We have stayed in far better and worse. In the summer months it might be very different. With the patio doors in the big bedroom flung open and the conservatory ones it would be lovely in sunny weather.

  • "Lovely place to stay for exploring North Wales, especially Anglesey."

We wanted somewhere quiet enough for our dogs over New Year’s and this was ideal and just as described, we didn’t hear any fireworks at all. Spacious property with lovely kitchen space and log burner. New sofa in conservatory (very comfy) and in living area - not shown in listing photos. Warm and comfortable rooms. Ideal space for dogs to roam in the back. A couple of minor hygiene issues but nothing that impacted our stay. Thank you for having us!

  • "Y Buarth is a lovely, cosy, well maintained cottage in beautiful surroundings and excellently placed for towns, nature reserves and walks."

The pictures simply do not do it justice, it by far exceeded our expectations. It had everything we needed and more, and the owners and their family are very friendly and helpful without being intrusive. We loved that you can go through a gate in the garden, into a field which leads down to the river. It is truly beautiful and peaceful down there. In the field are two friendly rescue horses who love carrots and the owners also have rescue dogs and cats who are gorgeous. We had the best week ever and will definitely be returning. We cannot recommend Y Buarth enough.

But did not heat bedrooms up because heaters in bedrooms did not work mother had to go to bed with coat on because of cold and she has arthritis.seating in living area not very comfortable to low and hard cushions to sit on.paul owner text to say speak to daughter if have problems because he was not there but she avoided us did not want to speak. a man turned up with his case saying he had rented the cottage and we had to explane to him that we were not due to leave untill following day. Also mould was present in the shower room The only conversation we had was with the man who turned up with his suitcase I think we will stick to staying in caravans and leave cottages alone.

  • "Great place for a quiet break."

Very friendly & helpful host who lives next to the property, but never intruded on our holiday. The conservatory is a welcome addition to the property. The location of the property is at the end of a private lane, thus very quiet and off the beaten track. Facilities are good although the bedroom got quite chilly and could do with some form of heating. All in all highly recommended.

  • "It was a beautiful cottage in the lanes of Waunfawr."

We were not disturbed by the owners who lived next door but if we needed anything they were very helpful and polite. The location was just outside of the village and it was very quiet and peaceful. The garden was dog friendly and backed on to a field with 2 horses in it. The horses were not disturbed by the dog. As my husband is older the seats in the lounge were too low for him to get in and out of so we spent most of our time in the conservatory. One of the blinds were broken and I advised the owner who already knew and said he was going to mend. The last 2 comments did not detract from a lovely & comfortable cottage.

The beds were comfortable and there was plenty of storage for our clothes etc. There was an ensuite shower and loo plus a family bathroom with a hand held shower over the tub. And plenty of hot water. The views were lovely as were the two ponies, dogs and cats. There was a terrace which we used daily just to chill and enjoy the views. Our hosts were very friendly and chatty without being intrusive. All in all a perfect holiday for us and we will definitely be booking another stay. Thank you Paul and Karen for a lovely time.

  • "Loved our stay."

Quiet location, friendly horses in the field besides the garden, relaxing sound of the river flowing nearby. The cottage owners were kind enough to put the heating on before we arrived, very welcoming. Clean and plenty of towels and pillows. Beds were comfortable. Enough wood for an evening around the furnace. Slight issue with the kitchen sink hot tap, the pressure was quite poor and it took quite some time to heat up. Also, some of the lamps' lightbulbs needed changing. I want to thank the owners for posting back my remote control (that I left at the cottage), a very kind gesture indeed! If ever we're in North Wales we'd happily stay again. All the best.

It's nice and quiet with a dog secure area and plenty of fields to take the dog for walks. The area is isolated enough to be peaceful yet close enough to places like Caernarfon and Bangor if anything is needed. Be aware that if using an Electric car that the charger infrastructure in N Wales is very poor, you may have to travel to Bangor or even Holyhead to get a rapid charge, there are more coming online however.
