The property

An attractive, detached, handmade Western Red Cedar log cabin, set on its own in a five acre paddock in the grounds of Brynallt Country Park, a large country estate, on the edge of Welsh Frankton, 3 miles from the famous meres (lakes) at Ellesmere.

This lovely log cabin, which is exceptionally well furnished and equipped, and makes a charming alternative to the usual Shropshire cottages, provides high quality, open plan accommodation, with contemporary fixtures and furnishings throughout.

The spacious front terrace overlooks the paddock, and is perfect for relaxing and dining alfresco.

Wonderful views over the Shropshire Plains can be found from the estate, and the area is renowned for scenic walks, fishing, boating, sailing and wildlife.

The attractions of both England and Wales are within reach; from the shops and zoo at Chester, to the World Heritage Centre of Ironbridge, the castle at Ludlow or the riverside walks and watersports at Llangollen.

A perfect base for a romantic getaway.

About the location

WELSH FRANKTON

Ellesmere 3 miles; Oswestry 5 miles; Shrewsbury 20 miles.

The tiny hamlet of Welsh Frankton stands between the famous village of Whittington, the birthplace of the first Lord Mayor of London, and the delightful town of Ellesmere, which is a pretty market town with Tudor, Georgian and Victorian buildings, found nestling between the beautiful mere (lake) and the Shropshire/Llangollen Canal, in an area known as Shropshire's Lakeland. Originally a fortified Anglo-Saxon settlement, Ellesmere is steeped in history. The town is home to the lovely Church of Saint Mary, with its 15th Century roof and Thomas Telford was based in the town while building the canal. There are a variety of shops, good pubs and restaurants and an abundance of entertainment on and around the nine lakes, which surround the town. Stroll through Cremorne Gardens, enjoy fishing and sailing or explore Colemere Country Park with its wonderful wildlife and scenic walks. As the townspeople say, there really is ‘a mere for all’!
