  • “Our stay was perfect!”

The house was amazing, perfect scenic location. Turned up to a welcome basket. Little issue with WIFI but that was no issue for the owner to sort out straight away. She was amazing. Would highly recommend staying here.

The property

Pwllheli 4.9 miles.

Pen Y Cefn is a traditional Welsh long cottage enjoying a lovely position amidst rolling countryside, settled at the centre of the Llyn Peninsula, but near to Pwllheli.

This stone-built cottage has an all-ground-floor layout, and boasts a light, contemporary interior, paired with classic touches such as the slate and a mill stone flooring in the entrance hall.

Enter this home-from-home after a day of exploring the stunning Llyn Peninsula by heading to the heart of the home, the open-plan living space; here you can relax in the sitting area before the Smart TV or listen to music via the blue-tooth sound bar before you begin to prepare the evening meal.

Enjoy cooking within the newly installed, fully equipped kitchen, with its central island and French windows opening onto a patio.

Eat out on sunny evenings on the south facing patio, which catches the sun and then relax with a glass of wine as you watch over the children make use of the safe enclosed lawned garden with hot tub.

Alternatively move through to gather around the large dining table and toast to your wonderful holiday.

Then return to relax in the lounge area with its own wood burning stove and stunning views of the surrounding countryside via bifold doors.

Settle down in one of the four superb bedrooms, choosing from one of two king-size, or two twin rooms, all boasting simple and elegant style as well as practical storage.

Completing the layout of the property is the bathroom and shower room.

The coastline around this region is dotted with castles and coves, while fishing, sailing and watersports are all available.

Most of the coastline is owned by the National Trust and there are many remote bays, sandy beaches, cliffs, and wildlife havens like Bardsey Island to explore.

The Llyn Peninsula is itself renowned for its outstanding scenery and varied walking.

The Snowdonia National Park is 25 miles away, with its dramatic scenery and superb walks.

Also within easy reach are Portmeirion and the Isle of Anglesey.

About the location

Pwllheli 4.9 miles, Morfa Nefyn 6 miles, Llanbedrog 8.5 miles, Abersoch 11miles

Pen Y Cefn is in the small hamlet of Rhosfawr at the centre of the peninsular but nearest to the unofficial capital of the Llyn Peninsula, Pwllheli, and this is where you can access a range of shops for food and essentials, as well as restaurants and pubs.

The town is home to a stunning marina, used as a base for the 2012 Commonwealth Games and has a rich maritime history to delve into.

Morfa Nefyn is a small village just 6 miles to the North West of this luxurious property; this bustling seaside village is perfect for the feel of Wales with lovely cafes and its long sweeping sheltered sandy bay nestling behind the Nefyn headlands.

Perfect for a family day out, the beach at Morfa Nefyn, Porth Dinllean is a natural suntrap with fine sands, rock pools and a life boat station at its end, as well as one of Wales least best kept secrets, the Ty Coch Inn which is right on the water’s edge; water sport enthusiasts can enjoy the variety of conditions perfect for surfers and sailors alike.

With dog friendly sections, it is a brilliant way for your dog to enjoy their holiday as well, running in and out the waves.

For the avid golfer, Nefyn & District Golf club hugs the Nefyn headland meaning you can enjoy breath-taking views as you make your way round this 18 hole championship course. Free access to the path running through the Golf Course allows walkers the same pleasure.

To the South West of the cottage, Llanbedrog has been welcoming families and pets for many years and it is still a popular destination for a day at the beach with its shallow water, perfect for little ones to go fishing with a net and bucket.

Renowned for its mile-long sheltered beach and prettily lined with coloured beach huts April to September, it is mostly managed by the National Trust. means There is something for everyone from water sports to adventure packs for kids which can be picked up from the car park and contain different activities from bug hunting, leaf trails and more.

The beach not only offers a beach café and evening restaurant but the village boasts an art gallery, open air theatre and woodland, coastline walks up to a tin man on the headland.

Head over to the very popular village of Abersoch for the day and visit its beautiful beach with sailing club, play a round of golf at Abersoch Golf Club, peruse the many gift and clothes boutiques or enjoyed one of the many varied and fine restaurants, cafes or bars.

In fact you can travel the whole circumference of the Llyn Peninsula which is now included within the Wales Coastal Path, exploring this amazing coastline and taking in magnificent views across Cardigan Bay.
