  • "The house was very nice, and the short cut to the beach was great."

    Although getting to the beach with bikes, was a different thing, as they had locked the gate, due to the bad weather, so had to pick the bikes up and climb over with them, not the owners fault we know.Anyway the storage for bikes isnt clear ,as it doesnt say you can use the utility room to put them in, so we had to keep the in them in the garden.The bedrooms are on the small side,and there are too many cupboards, and draws, and the floorboards are very squeeky, so it becomes very noisy,but all in all a nice house,

    Thanks for the positive comments. We are all upset though by some of the points raised and would like to take the opportunity to address them. The property has it's own private gate to the beach with a single bolt on the inside which can be easily unlocked by guests. We guess you meant the gate at the beach edge itself which is an anti-flood gate. It is controlled by the council and is VERY rarely closed, only during severe storms when there is danger to life. In terms of "bike storage" - the garden is huge with a ton of secure space for bikes (the gates all have bolts from the inside). The bedrooms are far from small.!! This is a very high-spec, luxury 4 bedroom detached home built in the last 20-ish years and the bedroom sizes are completely normal.! "Too many cupboards and drawers", we are struggling to understand this: odd to complain of "too many" of something, only if there weren't enough would that be a complaint? We all work SO very hard and so it is impossible not to be upset by this review. Thankfully, the majority of guests love the property, as do all our friends and family who have said they wish they could live here! Property Owner

  • "Lovely family house, perfect location."

    The walk through the back garden to the beach was brilliant and we spent so much time on the beach. The house was clean when we arrived and plenty of room for 4 adults and 4 kids. I do think that compared to other Sykes cottages we have stayed at it lacks a couple of details- but nothing that impacted our stay or would prevent me from recommending.

  • "We contacted you on thr first day as the was a problem with the signal to the TVs, this was not sorted, I do not expect to go on holiday after spending 2k and chase/answer calls regarding fixing issues, I expect you to contact the owner and get things sorted."

    We were also informed very late we could not get in to the property on time due to cleaning not being completed, well they must have rushed as we had to clean up, photos available if required, style milk left in the cupboard, no welcome pack either. The bins were overflowing from the week before so we had to take our rubbish to recycle. Really poor experience

  • "Just got back from midweek break The property is lovely and decorated to a good standard."

    Was very clean and had some basic essentials provided. A great location as we visited several areas with ease and amenities close by. The outside area was secure and well maintained. Bedding and pillows very basic and towels a bit small. Clear instructions available to work appliances. We wish we'd booked a full week.

Since your stay and over winter we have been extremely busy, making a terrific improvement to the property. We have provided the house with secure and direct beach (plus children's play park) access from the back garden. There are no roads to cross at all and it is literally seconds to the sand.! The entire rear garden is fully fenced and gated so perfect for toddlers, children and pets. We hope that you will return soon to see it for yourselves! Property Owner

  • "The house in general was great, really close to the beach as requested, however work was going on in the rear garden so it wasn't as secure as i had hoped with a space at the bottom of the gate leading to the beach my dog could get under."

    The other point to mention was entering the house for the first time, we had to contact Sykes as we couldn't get in. A new door has been fitted which is very tight so you have to pull it towards the frame before the latch will fully disengage. A note from Sykes would help on the "Key collection" page. Everything else was great. Loved the kitchen.

    Thank you so very much for leaving a perfect, 100% score... the staff will be delighted as they work really hard to keep the house. The door is new and does have a tight seal (we will definitely ask sykes to add a small note to say, 'please pull the door slightly whilst turning the key') ... so sorry that you had to telephone to resolve this. The work that you mention is to make the beach literally seconds away, rather than having to walk along the road and I'm very sorry if you found it not quite secure enough, we will get this attended to as soon as possible. It is fully fenced off so we weren't aware that there were gaps, but now that we know we can get it resolved as a matter of urgency!     Bedding was insufficient- pillows were awful Main bedroom mattress very uncomfortable and the bed sloped No hairdryer Awning outside wasn’t working - weather was hot The border in the garden was broken leaving nails on snow

    So sorry to hear that you werent completely happy as the staff worked incredibly hard to bring this amazing, unique property to market in time for this summer. Everything at the house was brand new(!) and from Dunelm who only supply good quality beds & bedding etc. we are thrtefore, genuinely upset and stunned at the "uncomfortable comments". The bed is completely flat and again it is brand new so not sure what to say really!? The outside is tended to every week and is setup as low maintenance with expensive planters and borders. We will certainly go over it with a fine toothcomb after your comments. We have invested heavily in the property this year (£ thousands) and are sincerely committed to providing the very best holiday accommodation at a very affordable price. Just this week will be unveiling a great new feature making the walk to the beach come down from a couple of minutes to literally 30 seconds!!! In the meantime, thank you for bringing the lack of hairdryer to our attention, this has now been rectified along with a new pole for the washing line.. Property Owner
