  • "Warm and cosy, plenty of hot water."

Very quirky but we liked it, had no problems. Lovely couple who owned it, made us very welcome.

  • "Peaceful and quiet, sheena is very nice and couldn't be more helpful."

Watch for potholes on road to lodge! Very restful week and plenty of places to visit.

  • "We had visited this lodge before and knew what to expect."

Very quirky which is quite appealing but did think the main bedroom (with en-suite) would be better with less unnecessary basketwork furniture making it very cramped. Having said that the beds are very comfortable with lovely bedding and nice towels. We were sorry to see that prices were increased more than double to that of last year.

  • "Great place to stay Sheena was very friendly and helpful and I’d definitely recommend staying."

The cabin is filled with weird and wonderful stuff and my kids loved exploring it all . Only problem is the road leading to the cabins….some very large potholes!!’

  • "The lodge was larger than anticipated, very comfortable and well equipped."

The decked area was great for eating al fresco and the fridge well stocked for us on arrival. The fresh flowers were a nice touch. Lovely location, very quiet and peaceful but within 10 minutes drive from Malton.

  • "Your web site describes the Lodge as 'quirky'."

Realistically, it is indeed different from most other cottages. It is furnished with really interesting items that help to give it its homely atmosphere. The owners are avid collectors of antiques and veteran furniture and decorations, and together these give the building's interior its unique atmosphere. That, together with the very quiet location and the attention given to us as guests by the owners, puts this venue well above the average holiday home in our experience. It is the only Sykes cottage we have rented where my wife has immediately said she would like to come back one day. Other cottages have been good - this one is outstanding.

  • "We had a perfect break."

The lodge is located in perfect location, peaceful and beautiful surroundings. The lodge itself is quite cosy and and has all the amenities you could hope for, including barbecue, dryer, DVD player... Derek has furnished the lodge with amazing antiques, we would have love to buy so many of them. Sheena and Derek are super friendly hosts, they live in a lodge nearby and available for anything one might need. We would love to go back again.

  • "A beautiful lodge in peaceful, quiet surroundings."

Large and private decking area with seating, table, and BBQ. The lodge is filled with curiosities which we absolutely loved - as did all our Facebook friends! I understand the owners have been told to 'de-clutter' - but we could not disagree more; for us it it made for a quirky difference which we loved. Fabulous log burner in the main living area, a powerful shower in the en suite. Fully equipped kitchen. Own parking space - absolutely perfect. A short drive from the lovely town of Malton (lovely shopping, cafes and a handy Morrisons and Lidl), the fabulous Dalby Forest (brilliant for walks, cycling, running) is about half hour drive away, and wonderful beaches about an hour away. We can't recommend this place highly enough. Almost don't want to share it! If we could move in, we would! Oh and lovely owners and neighbours too. Thank you for a wonderful week away - we're planning our next visit.

  • "Very friendly welcoming owners who went out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed - even bought us a new toaster and coffee machine!"

Beautiful bedding and soft towels - a real treat. We will return.

  • "A good central base to explore all the attractions around you."

A quite and relaxing place to come back to after a long day exploring. Two nice pubs in Old Malton just 10 mins away (DO NOT FORGET TO BOOK THEY FILL UP QUICKLY). Or drive another 3 mins into (New) Malton and you will find plenty of choice. I can confirm as per a previous feedback comment, there is no shower above the bath.

  • "Your web site states there is a shower over the bath in the second bathroom."

There is not. On the other hand, your website fails to mention that there is a dishwasher, which there is. There is no vacuum cleaner or sweeper, which makes clearing up rather problematic. We very much enjoyed our stay in this tranquil spot; the location was wonderful and we appreciated the careful planting roundabout. Derek and Sheena made us very welcome, with lots of goodies in the fridge including Prosecco and lager.
