“We had problems regards the heating!”

Problem who do you phone to get it fixed? The Aria reception didn’t want to know because we were with Sykes, luckily I flagged down a The Bay van and the kind chap managed to get the heating on!The problem was the thermostat not working with the boiler. I think Sykes should come to an agreement with Aria to solve problems with you customers.

The property

Sandy Toes is a stylish ground-floor lodge sitting within the excitement of The Bay holiday resort in the picture-perfect seaside town of Filey.

This delightful, pet-friendly abode is a great base for your next North Yorkshire adventure.

Make your way inside the inviting open-plan living space and make yourself comfortable on the sofas as you watch the fire from the woodburning stove flicker and chat with your family about the exciting days ahead, whilst the chef of the group takes to the fully-fitted contemporary kitchen and whips up a tasty treat for all.

Take a seat at the dining table and appreciate time well-spent with great company as you begin to tuck in to the delicious home-cooked meal.

Retire to the sofas for a family night in front of the TV watching enthralling movies or catching back-to-back episodes of your favourite shows.

When you feel yourself drifting away into a sleepy state, pick yourself up from the sofa and wander through to your bedroom; a double bedroom can be found at the end of the hallway decorated with beautiful country-style furnishings and complete with an airy en-suite featuring a walk-in shower.

The second of the bedrooms is home to an adult bunk-bed and wall-mounted TV, providing the perfect place to unwind after an action-packed day exploring Filey; this bedroom also features a Jack-and-Jill shower-room that can also be accessed from the hallway.

Open up the pretty bi-fold doors and step out onto the patio where you can indulge in breakfast outdoors during the summer months.

Make the most of your time in the resort with a trip to the gym followed by a steam in the sauna.

You can also enjoy a game of tennis on the courts or spend the morning swimming laps in the heated indoor pool.

If you don't fancy cooking, it's no problem; just head to the nearby Bayside Kitchen and indulge in a family meal out or grab a pint at the John Paul Jones pub, just a short walk from the cottage.

Venture into Filey for a walk along the scenic beach or take the children to meet the friendly alpaca at Filey Bird Garden and Animal Park.

Live memorable moments with your nearest and dearest at Sandy Toes.

About the location

Scarborough 7.5 miles; Bridlington 11 miles.

Filey is a traditional English seaside resort with a friendly atmosphere, offering a restful holiday, making an ideal place to stay for walkers and wildlife watchers at any time of the year. A real gem on the Yorkshire coast. A fishing town on the North East Coast, Filey has enjoyed a reputation of being a resort since Victorian times, set beside the magnificent Filey Bay, a long stretch of beautiful sand, with Filey Brigg and its shallow rockpools to the north. Filey Brigg is a low headland that protects Filey Bay and provides good bird watching and seawatching opportunities all year round. The 400 ft high Bempton Cliffs (RSPB Reserve) to the south of Filey Bay are home to over 250,000 seabirds in the summer. Gannets, kittiwakes, puffins, guillimots and razorbills all nest there. Gannets are regularly seen diving for fish in Filey Bay. The Brigg area is an ideal place to watch for common and rarer waders, seabirds and migrating warblers, finches and thrushes. As well as seabirds, seals and other marine life, such as porpoises dolphins and minke whales can be seen in the sea around the Brigg. The town itself seems almost caught in a time warp, retaining much of its character with individual shops, narrow paths and ginnels. There is a small coble landing, a slipway where local fishermen keep their boats, plus delightful beach chalets that can be hired through the summer months. The bay is edged with two promenades and there are various gardens, where brass bands play on a Sunday afternoon. This small town is family orientated, crazy golf and candy floss. Also in Filey there is the Filey Dams Nature Reserve, a wetland reserve where common and rare waders and wildfowl can be seen as well as autumn gatherings of swallows, sand martins and house martins. Also there is Parish Wood (just off Sycamore Avenue) an unexpected gem that offers a wealth of wildlife. Willow warbler, chiffchaff, blackcap and tree sparrows breed there and a wide variety of other species are regularly seen such as great spotted woodpeckers and sparrow hawks. Parish Wood also provides shelter and food for a wide range of migrant bird species such as goldcrests, pied and spotted flycatchers, warblers, finches, thrushes and woodcocks. A short drive brings you to the busier town of Scarborough where for family fun you can visit the Alpamare Waterpark, a waterpark unlike anything the UK has ever seen before, as well as plenty to explore and discover in this lovely area.
