We just love everything about Sea Breeze, The Bay and Filey. Always great communication with the owners and Sykes. Thank you for helping us make memories.

Would have liked 2 keys as I would go out early and be out for some time and if wife wanted to go out to supermarket and I got back and couldn’t get in only the one key ,it was fine holiday and a good position would book again

Hi, thank you for your feedback. In situations like this, we would suggest using the key safe so you don’t have to wait in for someone. Lovely to hear that you would consider booking again with us. Property Owner

  • "The property in general was good, however the oven stoped working which after an initial call to the reception, I was told to report it to the owners, the owners contacted me straight back and was excellent in emailing the reception to authorise the work."

However the reception staff initially was not that helpful, basically saying it's not our job because it's private, adding to the problem, rather than helping with a solution. The maintenance guy who came to carry out the repair was excellent and very helpful. On driving into the Bay, the site looked lovely and well kept, however on arriving at sea breeze the area around our accommodation looked scruffy, with the grass about a foot tall, making the area look unloved, not like the photo that is on your website, however after a few days the grass was cut and totally transformed the look, should have been like that to start with. The shop and pub area isn't accessible by mobility scooters as the dropped kerbs have been ropped off, and the only other dropped kerb was blocked by tables and chairs.

  • "Second visit to Sea Breeze, very much enjoyed the stay again."

The property is warm and bright, a great place to celebrate St Pat's day and Mothering Sunday. The Bay complex is well maintained (though some of the railway sleepers used for parking on need some attention) and is for all ages and abilities also an ideal base from which to visit other wonderful places that are near.

Everything has been thought of and we need not have brought a lot of products like cleaning sprays, etc, which we would normally take to a property such as this. We had to ring owners a couple of times for information and they were extremely helpful.

We used the log burner which made the snow outside look like a picture postcard. We have stayed at The Bay several times but this was the first time in this type of lodge we enjoyed it so much we have booked Sea Breeze again for St Patrick's Day in March 2023.

Layout perfect for wheelchairs and disabled access. High spec modern fittings across each room. Only one negative , beds too soft and pillows too thick , everything else perfect . We have already recommended this lodge to friends and family. The owners have done a great job , they were there at the end of a phone for help and advise Great place !!!

  • "Just had a weeks stay at Sea Breeze."

Had a fabulous time in this cosy beach retreat. It had everything we needed and particularly enjoyed the log burner which made our evenings even more cosier. The place was spotlessly clean and is in a great location on The Bay site. Near to both the beach and the pub/ leisure centre. Beautiful long sandy beach, the dog loved his walks to Filey. We were lucky with the tide times and weather. Wouldn’t hesitate to go back.

  • "Overall we had a great few days at The Bay."

Quite, relaxing and near to many other places. The lodge it’s self is well equipped and has a really nice feel and well decorated. There were just a few points which will make the experience even better: There was no light working in the fridge and also the dining area, so made it difficult to see at night. The main bed is rather creaky and every time you turn you hear it. The lodge is surface clean but it’s due for a deep clean high level, door frames, light fixtures etc.... lastly there was no bath mat for the en-suite so had to use towels and no toilet roll was a bit bizarre? Saying this, we would rerun for another weekend break!

It was in an excellent location, close to the beach. The property was well maintained. We have a 1 year old and a dog and it was extremely family friendly. The owners were easily contactable and got back to us straight away. They supplied a cot mattress and baby bath which not all supposedly family friendly properties do. The only slight downside was there was no wifi but there is wifi at the pub nearby.

  • "Lovely spot to stay for a few days in winter."

Sea Breeze was warm and cosy. We had missed the fact that there was no wifi, but the teenagers managed to survive by going to the pool a lot. Great walks along the beach - including getting cut off by the tide, but so easy to pick up a taxi at Filey railway station to get back. Nice pub and coffee shop on site - pub was very busy even in winter, so planning ahead needed.

About the location

FILEY

Scarborough 7.7 miles; Bridlington 10.5 miles.

Filey is a traditional English seaside resort with a friendly atmosphere, offering a restful holiday, making an ideal place to stay for walkers and wildlife watchers at any time of the year. A real gem on the Yorkshire coast. A fishing town on the North East Coast, Filey has enjoyed a reputation of being a resort since Victorian times, set beside the magnificent Filey Bay, a long stretch of beautiful sand, with Filey Brigg and its shallow rockpools to the north. Filey Brigg is a low headland that protects Filey Bay and provides good bird watching and seawatching opportunities all year round. The 400 ft high Bempton Cliffs (RSPB Reserve) to the south of Filey Bay are home to over 250,000 seabirds in the summer. Gannets, kittiwakes, puffins, guillimots and razorbills all nest there. Gannets are regularly seen diving for fish in Filey Bay. The Brigg area is an ideal place to watch for common and rarer waders, seabirds and migrating warblers, finches and thrushes. As well as seabirds, seals and other marine life, such as porpoises dolphins and minke whales can be seen in the sea around the Brigg. The town itself seems almost caught in a time warp, retaining much of its character with individual shops, narrow paths and ginnels. There is a small coble landing, a slipway where local fishermen keep their boats, plus delightful beach chalets that can be hired through the summer months. The bay is edged with two promenades and there are various gardens, where brass bands play on a Sunday afternoon. This small town is family orientated, crazy golf and candy floss. Also in Filey there is the Filey Dams Nature Reserve, a wetland reserve where common and rare waders and wildfowl can be seen as well as autumn gatherings of swallows, sand martins and house martins. Also there is Parish Wood (just off Sycamore Avenue) an unexpected gem that offers a wealth of wildlife. Willow warbler, chiffchaff, blackcap and tree sparrows breed there and a wide variety of other species are regularly seen such as great spotted woodpeckers and sparrow hawks. Parish Wood also provides shelter and food for a wide range of migrant bird species such as goldcrests, pied and spotted flycatchers, warblers, finches, thrushes and woodcocks. A short drive brings you to the busier town of Scarborough where for family fun you can visit the Alpamare Waterpark, a waterpark unlike anything the UK has ever seen before, as well as plenty to explore and discover in this lovely area.
