“We have just returned from a fabulous break at Sea Renity.”

A lovely holiday lodge, plenty of space, spotlessly clean, modern and comfortable. The Bay holiday park is very well laid out, nicely landscaped and kept very neat and tidy. There is a pub on site, dog friendly and open all day. Also a pharmacy, open week days only and a cafe which was closed while we were there. Possibly only opens in busier times? We didn't use the pool facilities so can't comment on those. The walk down to the beach is a well laid out footpath with a smooth tarmac surface ...

The walk down to the beach is a well laid out footpath with a smooth tarmac surface. The last few yards down to the beech are steep but should be manageable for most people. We did see a couple of people make it down on mobility scooters. The beech itself is fantastic! Miles of smooth sand when the tide is out and absolutely perfect for walking our labrador Lola. The lodge is set on a grassy area surrounded by other lodges. Not too crowded although it's bound to be busier in the Summer months. A previous reviewer had shown surprise that there was no enclosed garden, but this is quite obvious from the pictures. It didn't cause any problems for us as our dog is very calm, but if your dog is a bit more excitable an extending lead will do the job! So many lovely places to visit in the vicinity as well. The owner Vanessa contacted one day as she had heard there may be a problem with the electric supply on site. Everything was actually fine, but it was nice that she took the trouble to contact. We have had many holidays with Sykes. Never had a bad experience, but this one was absolutely 5 star amazing!!

Large glass patio doors open onto private decking where you can sit and enjoy a coffee in the morning or a glass of wine as the sun goes down.

Both bedrooms continue this lovely seaside theme with blue and white hues running through them, one with an en-suite and additional TV and the twin with convenient Jack-and-Jill access to the family bathroom.

With quality beds and linens in both, guests are assured of a good night's sleep.

A five minute stroll brings you to the hub of this holiday village, with a pub, cafe and pharmacist on site, along with a lovely indoor swimming pool, sauna and steam room.

Surrounded by communal grounds, there are two lakes, picnic areas and a host of outdoor activities to enjoy, including tennis, bike hire and fishing.

The long, safe and sandy beach stretches for miles and is ideal for children and four legged friends, whilst the traditional seaside town of Filey offers two fine promenades, pretty ornamental gardens and a unique cobble landing where boats are launched.

Go crabbing in the rock pools, take a bracing cliff top walk on the Brigg or just relax by the sea.

If you have time, there are a wealth of nearby attractions, including Bempton RSPB Reserve, the stately homes of Sledmere House and Burton Agnes Hall and the rolling countryside of the Wolds to explore.

About the location

FILEY

Scarborough 7.5 miles; Bridlington 11 miles.

Filey is a traditional English seaside resort with a friendly atmosphere, offering a restful holiday, making an ideal place to stay for walkers and wildlife watchers at any time of the year. A real gem on the Yorkshire coast. A fishing town on the North East Coast, Filey has enjoyed a reputation of being a resort since Victorian times, set beside the magnificent Filey Bay, a long stretch of beautiful sand, with Filey Brigg and its shallow rockpools to the north. Filey Brigg is a low headland that protects Filey Bay and provides good bird watching and seawatching opportunities all year round. The 400 ft high Bempton Cliffs (RSPB Reserve) to the south of Filey Bay are home to over 250,000 seabirds in the summer. Gannets, kittiwakes, puffins, guillimots and razorbills all nest there. Gannets are regularly seen diving for fish in Filey Bay. The Brigg area is an ideal place to watch for common and rarer waders, seabirds and migrating warblers, finches and thrushes. As well as seabirds, seals and other marine life, such as porpoises dolphins and minke whales can be seen in the sea around the Brigg. The town itself seems almost caught in a time warp, retaining much of its character with individual shops, narrow paths and ginnels. There is a small coble landing, a slipway where local fishermen keep their boats, plus delightful beach chalets that can be hired through the summer months. The bay is edged with two promenades and there are various gardens, where brass bands play on a Sunday afternoon. This small town is family orientated, with donkey rides available on the beach, children’s play areas, crazy golf and candy floss. Also in Filey there is the Filey Dams Nature Reserve, a wetland reserve where common and rare waders and wildfowl can be seen as well as autumn gatherings of swallows, sand martins and house martins. Also there is Parish Wood (just off Sycamore Avenue) an unexpected gem that offers a wealth of wildlife. Willow warbler, chiffchaff, blackcap and tree sparrows breed there and a wide variety of other species are regularly seen such as great spotted woodpeckers and sparrow hawks. Parish Wood also provides shelter and food for a wide range of migrant bird species such as goldcrests, pied and spotted flycatchers, warblers, finches, thrushes and woodcocks. A short drive brings you to the busier town of Scarborough where for family fun you can visit the Alpamare Waterpark, a waterpark unlike anything the UK has ever seen before, as well as plenty to explore and discover in this lovely area.
