  • "A very comfortable, clean and well equipped cottage."

It has everything you’ll need for your stay. It is situated just up from Whitby quay, which you can easily walk to in 20-25 minutes. There are plenty of good restaurants and pubs within an easy walk. It is also well placed to explore the surrounding area.

Hi Chris, so pleased you had a lovely week at Cricket Cottage in Whitby. Thank you for your feedback, much appreciated. Could I ask for your thoughts on why you marked down the accuracy of our listing on the Sykes website? Cheers David Property Owner

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Cricket Cottage."

The house was comfortable with plenty of room for the 5 of us, and with a well equipped kitchen. Whitby was in easy reach (whether by walking or by car), as were the Moors. It was handy being able to park our car just outside too.

  • "In a great situation, open fields behind and views across the Esk to the front."

Very close by is the former railway line which enables an easy walk into Whitby. The house is well laid out, light and feels spacious. We liked that the bedrooms have only essential storage - just hanging and a bedside unit - and instead of the usual clutter we had flat surfaces so we could open out our luggage properly. Well appointed kitchen though I’m glad I brought a knife sharpener. Friendly neighbours too!

  • "We stayed at Cricket cottage, just outside of Whitby centre."

The cottage is very modern, clean and offers lovely views of the countryside and is right next to the old viaduct which is great to walk along and take panoramic photos of the views below. The cottage has a small decked seating area to the rear, accessed by french doors from the kitchen and there is a large grassed area beyond the deck which was great for a runaround for our dog. The area is very peaceful and quiet. Perfect to unwind and for a relaxing stay whilst Whitby town centre is just a ten minute drive away.

View of viaduct to the front and the moors to the rear. Lovely 20-25 minute walk along cinder trail into Whitby. Property was fully equipped with normal home essentials and was clean and tidy, a home from home.

It was spotlessly clean on arrival and very well equipped, couldn't fault it. We had a little bit of bad weather and it was so nice to return to a warm cosy cottage after a day out. The views over the hills from the back of the house were wonderful and we saw some amazing sunsets. Walking into Whitby over the viaduct and along the cinder path takes around 20 minutes. We will definitely return!

Great location for my 4 year old and the outside space felt really safe for him to have a good run around. Cricket cottage itself is extremely well-equipped and there was everything we needed for our week-long stay (the chairs were very handy for the older members of our party on the beach. • "Both myself and the dog thoroughly enjoyed this holiday."

The walk along the cinder path was longer than we thought and very muddy in places glad I took my walking boots. There is a shorter way into Whitby which the next door neighbours showed me on the last day. The cottage was lovely and clean and tidy also very warm. The electric went off for 6 hours on the Friday but that was due to Northern Power repairing a cable nearby. The walks around the river and Captain Cooks Haven were great for a last evening walk. The only things that could be better is that there were no bath mats and I hate getting out of a shower onto a tiled floor so I used the rubber mat for inside the bath. Also there was no draining rack for dishes (I know there is a dishwasher but being only myself I didn’t use it) I was bothered about the crockery sliding off the draining board into the floor. Only little things but would be nice to see these in place on a return visit. Would I go again yes definitely thinking about September. What doesn’t show on the picture is that you face the brick and wood shed which houses the bins so part of your view of the river/viaduct is obscured downstairs but great upstairs. Lovely open countryside views at the back and private decking area. No fenced in area but took the dog on the lead out to the grass at the back morning and evening for his toilet. Would recommend this property prefer being at the top than having to climb the steep hill everyday from the cottages at the bottom but they have a brilliant river view swings and roundabouts. Parking great no issues at all that’s a big plus for me

There is a lovely view across the fields from kitchen window and rear patio and views out the front of the viaduct and river plus the Steam Trains so if you want a nice quiet base for a trip to Whitby this is it. It is only 5/6minute drive to town or by taxi costs only £6.00p we did this to go on the Steam Train as parking is difficult costs for parking is about £10.00p for all day at least with the taxi for us it stopped right out-side the station for a lovely day on the NORTH YORKSHIRE MOORS RAILWAY a very good day out

On arrival, we were quite delighted by how beautifully it was presented - immaculately decorated, with beautiful decor, spotlessly clean, every home comfort - and as we settled in we found the cottage had everything we could possibly need. The location is just perfect - plenty of on-site parking, and only a mile or so from the centre of Whitby. And given the inclement weather, we were particularly grateful for the efficient heating and constant hot water. Really highly recommended.
