  • "Hi, although generally clean the main bedroom light fitting and edges of the room covered in cobwebs with 3 found large spiders in there."

Property could do with a little love and attention (bulbs not bright enough, curtains in living room hanging off the rail). Owner contacted us and made sure heating was OK for us and was very friendly. Had an enjoyable holiday but overall, unlikely to book this property again.

Hi thank you for taking time to give us feedback .We have always had positive comments regarding the standard of cleanliness of the cottage.. However sometimes at the end of the season we have a visit from a family of spiders.. strangely around Halloween.. I checked the cottage on Saturday and the cleaners have dealt with the problem. I can only apologise from any stress caused. I have also asked the present tenant to check the curtains and she told me one of the hooks had split and kindly took time to make it operational again. She also said that she had had no problem with the quality of the lighting. I am glad you at least had an enjoyable holiday but saddened you don’t feel you would return . We do try and make our clients stay as comfortable as possible, as we feel the cottage is in the ideal spot for people visiting this lovely part of the country. Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely stay in your cottage which is situated in an idyllic position."

Beds were very comfortable. Disappointed there was not a welcome tray nor milk as this would have been great after a long journey. It meant we needed to unpack straight away.

Sorry but because of rising prices we have to cut back on incidentals. Hopefully it didn't affect your stay . It was a helpful comment so we can let the subsequent guests know it wont't be provided. Kind Regards Bernadette Property Owner

The property was very clean, comfortable and well equipped, an ideal location for a walk into Whitby along the cinder path, the hill out of the complex was a bit of a pull but the more we did it, the easier it got! Would highly recommend and will use again

The complex is in a very quiet and peaceful spot, whilst still being close enough to visit Whitby, Robin Hoods Bay etc. A perfect location. The owner is very friendly and helpful, we would certainly come again.

The only niggle we had was the double bed mattress seemed uncomfortable and would benefit by being replaced.

  • "We had a very enjoyable stay, and the cottage was clean and well equipped, the area was perfect for us, we were able to visit lots of places in the surrounding area."

My only criticism would be that the duvet on the double bed is much too small. It only just reaches the edge of the bed, meaning that if we moved at all we were not covered by it. We are both small, slim people so i could imagine this would be a real problem for anyone bigger or heavier.

It is nice accommodation and the location is ideal for a 20 minute walk along the cinder trail into Whitby. Good play area for the kids. A bit disappointing that the swimming pool wasn’t open because of COVID. Overall, a nice week helped by good weather.

  • "The location is amazing."

The house is nice but could do with a fresh coat of paint everywhere and a few cracks sorting. The towel rail in the bathroom is coming off the wall and the curtain in the hall is lacking curtain hooks !! The owner controls the heating which means it was cold when you wanted it warm and you had no control at any time. Also there are window locks on the windows downstairs and no key . Carpets could do with a steam clean .All these things are relatively small in a place that is otherwise lovely.

  • "Excellent location for Whitby and surrounding area, well placed for interesting walks."

Spacious car parking slot only 63 steps form the front door, picnic bench outside the back door is bathed in sunlight in the afternoon. Excellent power shower, just the thing after walking to Robin Hood's Bay and back. This is the 3rd time we have stayed in the area, and look forward to returning soon. Our only complaint is the 10% booking fee Sykes charge, which we consider a bit rich given that we do the booking over the internet.

The property

Whitby 1 mile.

A cosy, modern, end-terrace cottage, situated in a small development on the banks of the River Esk, on the edge of the seaside town of Whitby.

Perfect for families wanting to explore the North York Moors and seaside resorts, the property provides an ideal base, with the added advantage of a communal indoor swimming pool.

Overlooking the famous old railway viaduct, under which steam trains pass by, this delightful property has a comfortably furnished open plan living area with a well-equipped kitchen, dining area and sitting area.

There are two comfortable bedrooms together with a family bathroom.

Outside this lovely cottage there is a small private patio and a large, enclosed, communal garden with children's play equipment.

The indoor swimming pool is sure to be a big hit with the children and ideal for a rainy day.

Communal grounds lead down to the river banks, where you are likely to see otters, herons, ducks and the odd kingfisher.

Seals also regularly swim up this stretch of the tidal estuary.

Although just a 20 minute walk into the centre of Whitby, this is a tranquil spot and offers a peaceful environment after a busy day.

At the top of the development, is the 23 mile long disused railway line, known as the 'Cinder Track', enjoyed by walkers, cyclists and your four legged friends.

Popular Whitby has something for everyone, with its narrow cobbled streets, quaint tea rooms, good restaurants and trendy harbour bars.

Walk the extensive sands to Sandsend to the north or tackle the 199 steps up to the majestic abbey, high on the cliffs above the town.

The famous fish and chips are a must and then work them off by an invigorating walk on the Cleveland Way.

The more adventurous may opt for a fishing trip or you may care to try whale-watching in season as Minke whales are regularly sighted just off the coast.

The North York Moors are on the doorstep and the pretty coastal villages of Staithes, Runswick Bay and Robin HoodÂ’s Bay are a short drive away.

Plenty to do for all the family at any time of the year.
