  • "We loved The Old Post Office!"

The charm, history, location, so many things about it we liked …. room to spread out too! And, the host Madeleine was incredible. I feel like we’ve made a friend! First of all, we arrived to a wonderful and very complete basket of provisions for breakfasts and snacks! So very thoughtful!also, she gave us lots of super helpful local tips and was extremely communicative yet gave us all the privacy in the world. Perfect rental and best host EVER! .

  • "Perfect cottage for us as a group of old friends."

The kind owner had left a very generous welcome pack and plenty of wood for cosy fires - all very much appreciated. Lots to do locally in this beautiful part of the country.

  • "Extremely comfortable property, all commented on excellent beds and quality furnishings."

Rayburn took a bit of getting used to but when combined with other facilities worked well. Only small gripe was that the main lounge area could do with more seating for 9.

  • "We had a fantastic stay at the post office."

The location is perfect, we made the most of the lovely cafe opposite and had an afternoon tea one afternoon. The accomodation is so spacious and perfect for our group. We would highly recommend staying at the post office

  • "It sleeps 10 people, but only had one big pan so self catering was extremely difficult."

There was not one cupboard in the kitchen to store food, so we had tins bottles, packets and jars. All stacked at one end, it looks like a harvest festival!. The cottage was mostly clean, a few cobwebs. The bedrooms and bathrooms were very comfortable and the furniture, clean and comfortable. For self caterers, there could do to be a mixing bowl, some serving dishes, and generally more kitchen equipment. A rolling pin, a food mixer et cetera

  • "This is a very attractive and comfortable cottage in a delightful village."

There were eight in our party (there is room for ten people) and we very much enjoyed our stay.

  • "This was our second stay at this wonderful property."

It’s great for family get togethers or a group of friends. The house is very comfortable with plenty of room for kids to play. There is a wonderful cafe across the road which does a great breakfast as well as cakes and food throughout the day. There is so much to visit in the area (North Yorks railway, castle Howard, various national trust properties, national birds of prey centre to name a few) and the house is close to York which is beautiful. Thanks again for a wonderful stay!

  • "Large cottage with plenty of room."

The location is great for the North Yorkshire Moors, Rievaulx Abbey, Helmsley, Castle Howard, Nunnington Hall, etc and Ampleforth itself is very pretty. The annexe provides private accommodation within a larger house, great for grandparents wanting their own space. Cooking in the large kitchen is on a Rayburn, and the house has all the facilities you'd expect.

  • "The Old Post Office is a wonderful property for a large group."

It is like a tardis - much bigger than in the photos! Lovely cosy sitting room & sofa. It is in a great location for some beautiful walks and there is a brilliant cafe and pub just over the road. We loved our stay here; the only small thing is that two of the double beds are very small (as well as the one in the annexe) and not really big enough for two adults. Fine for a teenager or child.
