  • "Green Tor is a magnificent house to stay in, it is enormous and comfortable and we had a fabulous short break in Scarborough."

Despite its size, the house was cosy and we had everything we needed. The beds were comfortable and the facilities were all clean and working. My 93 year old mother found it easy to get around but didn’t attempt the spiral staircase up to the cinema room. The rest of us loved the hot tub and the games room. The location was perfect for a walk in Peaseholm Park or to the beach and castle.

Location was fantastic, the house was beautiful, well equipped and decorated tastefully. The facilities were all well used, enjoyed and greatly appreciated. A minor issue of a light not working was fixed in a timely way. This is the first time we will be re booking a property to return to. We loved it.

The facilities exceeded our expectations with a superb hot tub and excellent games room with full size table tennis table, pool table and the bonus of a home cinema above. The five children aged 4-14 would have been happy just staying at the house but the superb location meant the beach, water park and Peaseholm Park were all on our doorstop. There was a problem with one of the showers but the owners arranged for a plumber straight away. The perfect venue for a special multi-generation family holiday

The house was large and lovely and perfect facilities for a large group. The recreational room at the back of the house was excellent. The house is located next to beautiful Peasholm Park where there is also a mini golf which the kids enjoyed. Also a 10 min walk to the North Bay beach. Enjoyed wonderful early morning walks on the beach and a cuppa overlooking the sea at Watermark Cafe. Perfect! All the kids had a blast. Happy memories made for all. Will definitely be back.

  • "Our five nights at Green Tor was brilliant."

The house is beautiful, furnished to a very high quality and has great facilities like the games room, hot tub and cinema, all of which we loved. We were just a family of four and the house sleeps 14, so we had a luxurious amount of space, but also found it very cosy and comfortable. The location opposite the park and just a few minutes walk from the North Beach is perfect. We had a couple of little issues getting the cinema to work and the heating in the games room, but these were fixed very quickly by the landlord when we texted him.

You went incommunicado. I don't like that at all. Fortunately our holiday at the end of August was at a time when government rules were least against what we were doing. But if there had been more of a problem I wouldn't have wanted to deal with Sykes. The holiday itself was fine. The host was most accommodating, got an engineer out directly when the heating went wrong, had all the facilities, games hot tub, available for us. The house was lovely, with some new redecorating as well. Scarborough is a charming place.

! Great facilities !! The games room and cinema room kept my 2 boys entertained whilst the huge hot tub kept the adults entertained. Great kitchen with large table for breakfast, and equally large table in the separate dining room for our evening meals. The main lounge was comfortable with enough sofas / seats for everyone, whilst the little snug was great for my mum who liked the temperature a little hotter than everyone else, and with her own tv to watch her favourite programs. 7 bedrooms and not one of us felt like we had drawn the short straw. The top floor with the twin room and the kingsize with the jack and jill bathroom was great for me, my husband and my 2 boys. The location is great as well with a short stroll to the beach. I would definitely recommend this house for a family gathering.

One family member just wandered about saying, Wow, I really love this house. The games room was much enjoyed - snooker, darts, table tennis, also cricket on the beach. Access to the park, 2 minutes, beach, 5-10 minutes walk. With 7 large double bedrooms, 4 living rooms and 8 bathroom/toilets the house was plenty big enough for us 12. Hot tub was fine, but as the weather was lovely we didn't use it much. Parking is quite tight. Pretty garden with lawn/sitting out area. Not fully fenced. Equipment is sufficient for cooking and everything works. Lots of crockery and glasses. Big feature is the beach, quite close and very nice. Rock pools, warm lagoons, lots of flat sand and not too crowded. Swimming at high tide. The park has lots of attractions - dragon boats, pagoda, pitch and putt and a unique naval battle. Very pretty long glen. Castle is bigger than it looks, worth a visit. We visited Whitby but apart from that just enjoyed all the stuff in Scarborough.

!!!! Everything you need is there to make your stay perfect. The games room, cinema room and hot tub made the kids holiday, we couldn’t get them out of the rooms. The park is literally across the road too. It’s very well looked after, the owners live next door which we found handy when we couldn’t get the oven working properly (our mistake, we had it on the wrong setting!!) they came around immediately and were lovely about it. My only criticism is although it is very clean, there are areas that did need slightly more attention. We would 100% return it was a perfect weeks holiday spent with the family.

All bedrooms were decorated to a high standard, and beds were very comfortable. I have never slept so well on holiday! The kitchen was well stocked with crockery and cutlery, and everything worked. The only thing issue in the kitchen was the teapot, which pours all over the worktop, but this is only a minor complaint. The location of the house is superb, sitting next to Peasholm Park, and a 5 minute walk to the beach at North Bay. The road is very quiet, yet central and accessible.

  • "Absolutely fab and we've already booked for next year."

There was one problem which was quite inconvenient and that was the oven, only 2 burners out of the 5 worked and the oven took ages to heat and did not reach the temperature required which was a major problem for me as I was making a Sunday lunch for 12 people as a celebration of my son's 30th Birthday. Other than that it was lovely. I think it would be a good idea to have a list of recommended restaurants and place to go for Sunday lunch and 'recommended' take away. There were take away menus but the one we used was not very nice at all, this of course has no refection on the property but would be a bonus and nice touch if there were personal recommendations. Thanks
