Mrs Miles “It was our fourth visit to Archway Houss, and it won’t be our last.”
It ticks all the boxes, just the holiday location we like!
- Mrs Miles, September 2020Ms Harris “Brilliantly equip kitchen.”
The owner was great to chat too from reassuring over being covid-19 safe to a local playground in the village for the kids at the cricket ground to quieter sea side areas dog friendly and places to walk. Lovely enclosed garden too. Great holiday
- Ms Harris, August 2020Dr Blake “This was a brilliant locality for a holiday with plenty to see and do.”
Our favourite trips were to Helmsley town and birds of prey centre, and to Castle Howard. The holiday cottage was lovely and comfortable with everything we needed for a great break.
- Dr Blake, July 2020Mrs Hoeft “Lovely cosy cottage with comfy beds and carefully chosen equipment in the kitchen.”
We enjoyed our stay with three grandchildren very much. Very handy for Birds of prey centre at Helmsley, Brimham Rocks and Catching crabs on the harbour at Whitby.
- Mrs Hoeft, October 2019Mr Howard “Well positioned for exploring the whole area.”
There was everything we needed in the Cottage. Wifi was a bit slow upstairs, and we had no mobile signal when inside. Could do with seat cushions on dining room chairs (as we played scrabble/cards in the evening - and the chairs became hard after a while!) Found the mattress nearest the window in the twin room too soft (everyone must prefer this one) The electricity went off one evening, found the fuse box after a search above the entrance to the property and reset it. Might have been easier to find if there was a sticker on the door, or info in the house book.
- Mr Howard, June 2019Mrs Wilson “We loved Archway House, every thing you could possibly need and more.”
3 generations and a little dog had a lovely stay here. It’s all the nice little touches, toys and books and little table and chairs in the child’s bedroom, lovely family selection of DVDs and really well equipped kitchen, safe and secure garden. Great location.
- Mrs Wilson, June 2019Mr Bush “Archway House is the most comfortable and cleanest holiday home we have stayed in.”
The situation suites us perfectly.
- Mr Bush, May 2019Mr Bush “We love Archway house and hope to keep returning”

Well equipped and a secure garden for the dog. Clean and bright with good size bedrooms and plenty of storage. Had a lovely stay.
- Mrs Lister, October 2018Mrs Hoeft “Archway House is a lovely comfortable cottage.”
Plenty of seating. Brilliant showers, warm and good kitchen and equipment. Handy for a good play park and a lovely community feel t the place. Lots of nice gardens. Handy gif the Birds if PreyCentre, Whitby, Scarborough and York. We enjoyed meals at Trenchers Whitby and the Crown Inn at Hutton le Hole.
- Mrs Hoeft, October 2018Mr Bush “This was our second visit to Archway House.”
Very comprehensively fitted out and comfortable. Booked again for two more visits next year. You really are in an area of outstanding beauty and absolutely loads of places to go or not as the cottage is very comfortably furnished and just a great place to relax and chill.

Spotlessly clean, very comfortable. Welcome pack amazing, including red roses. Garden great for our Scottie Dog. Everything thought about and paying great attention to detail
- Mrs Williams, July 2018Miss Hughes “We didn't want to leave and would return again.”
Best equipped place we have ever stayed in, they have thought of practically everything, all ages catered for. Attractive peaceful location but within easy reach of other places of interest. We had a lovely sunny week in June so made good use of garden. Plenty of choice in Helmsley for eating out. No shop in village. Didn't try local F&C shop or Indian so can't comment.
- Miss Hughes, June 2018Mrs Tuckwell “Archway House is a superb example of an ideal holiday cottage.”
We had such a lovely holiday. The area is very quiet and peaceful with the road out the front being only used by local residents and occasional tractors. There is no shop in the village but Helmsley or Kirkbymoorside are a short drive away. This holiday house is ideally situated for the Moors and a 20 mile drive to the coast of Scarborough. Very highly recommended.
- Mrs Tuckwell, June 2018Mrs Tate “Peaceful location.”
Well equipped cottage .Good base for touring the local area.
- Mrs Tate, May 2018Mr Perry “Really lovely holiday cottage in a great location.”
Very clean and well equipped and what a shower!!!! The garden was brilliant for the dog and on a warmer week would have been lovely to sit in. (Do not do the fish and chip shop. Yuk!)
- Mr Perry, March 2018Mrs Miles “Our second stay in this lovely accommodation.”
...and we will be back!!!! Just didn't want the week to end
- Mrs Miles, October 2017Miss Smithies “It's central position is ideal for touring coast and country, has a lovely garden for sitting/eating/evening drinks in the sun (when it shines) and every convenience indoors.”
One of the best we have stayed in, and have told the owners so.
- Miss Smithies, September 2017Mr Beattie “Lots to do and see in the area and archway house was clean and well furnished .”
Only slight niggle no local shop in the village
- Mr Beattie, September 2017Mr Nicholson “The toaster needs replacing, only 1 side works properly.”
Other than that, it's a lovely cottage.
- Mr Nicholson, July 2017Mr Robinson “Fantastic cottage, as good as any we have been in.”
Great facilities, cosy and clean and a great base for exploring the surrounding area.
- Mr Robinson, March 2017Miss Flynn “Beautiful cottage don't be put off by the exterior which isn't pretty inside it is really nicely dobe and to a high standed.”
Very comfortable sofas and a decent size. Lovely and cosy with the gas fire on too. Great kitchen, well equipped including dishwashr, big fridge freezer and washer dryer. Hob rings a little slow to heat but fine. Lots of dishes etc large handy downstairs shower room with toilet. Bedrooms all lovely and master bed very comfortable. Nice safe garden. Loved the quiet, the village location with pup a couple of minured walk. An ideal Base. We were left to ourselves ...no intrusion from owner/housekeeper which sometimes happens in rentals. I loved the place and will return very soon. The whole area is wonderful
- Miss Flynn, October 2016Mrs Sanders “"Can we live in this house?”
" was the comment made by one adult party member - all agreed it was a lovely place to stay. The owners have made it a real home-from-home. Many thanks to them for the care taken.
- Mrs Sanders, October 2016Mr Andrews “Owner should be very proud exceeded our expectations, anyone thinking of hiring this house you will not be disappointed”

- Mr Moran, March 20160 0 “The cottage delivered exactly what it promised and more besides.”
It isn't just a holiday rental, it feels like a home. The décor was in keeping with the property as were the furnishings. It was good quality, comfortable and cosy but was also very dog friendly. Outside, the enclosed garden provided a perfect space to relax with a glass of wine in the knowledge that our four legged friend was both safe and secure.
- 0 0, September 2015Mrs Sims “The cottage was a decent size for a family, with the bedrooms being really spacious.”
Easy access to both the moors and the coast. There is also a well-equipped children's playground near the school, about 200 yards from the cottage.
