  • "Excellent property in good location for visiting coast and country in the area."

If you wanted to eat in the cottage, especially with the current cost of living, it could have done with a few casserole or similar dishes to use in the Oven or Microwave. Host was very helpful and gave us a choice of biscuits and a pint of milk as a welcome pack. Plenty of books and games in the "secret room" if the weather not conducive for going out.

Thank you so much for your lovely feedback, but I'm so sorry I didn't know you wanted a casserole dish, etc, as I could very easily have provided one. It's a difficult balance between having the right kitchen items and filling cupboards up and making it a challenge to put shopping away, but I'll pop dishes in straight away. Thank you for the idea. And it was lovely to be able to give you an extra days holiday for free - I love it when I can treat people :-) Property Owner

It was nice to come back in the evening and know you had a parking space. A lovely shared garden surrounded by trees full of birds, if you listen you can even hear a cockerel in the distance. We had milk left for a cuppa on arrival along with eggs and biscuits. A brilliant holiday.

I love it when fabulous guests have a brilliant holiday - and guests don't come much more fabulous than you two :-) Property Owner

  • "A wonderfully situated cottage with everything you need for a relaxing and enjoyable holiday."

Sarah, the owner, goes above and beyond to ensure that you get the most from your stay, from the initial meeting, showing you around and showing you how everything works, to being contactable at any time if you have problems or questions. The welcome gifts of milk, biscuits and farm fresh free-range eggs are another nice touch. Sarah’s enthusiastic commitment to making your stay the best it can be along with her kindness and generosity really makes this a special place to visit. For me the accommodation is only one element of the stay, to feel welcome and at ease throughout the holiday is what makes the complete package. I highly recommend Rambler’s Rest and I’m sure that an equally enjoyable stay would be had at one of the other three properties that are part of the Mews and will most definitely be returning. A real home from home. Excellent. Thank you.

Aw, Steve, what a kind and fabulous feedback - and think I could do to employ you as my marketing staff :-D Everything you wrote was brilliant, but my favourite bit was 'and will most definitely be returning' :-) Thank you so much. Property Owner

Excellent access to garden which is well stocked and was able to collect Pears, rhubarb and courgettes for baking. Kitchen very well equipped and spacious. Did not use the washer as it was in a separate building and communal; we are still very careful due to Covid. There is room for a small one in the cottage if the fridge is placed on a higher level. I did struggle as the fridge was very low. Hand sanitiser was supplied. Good internet access and two large TVs (we retuned them for a better reception). No problems with parking; the arch at the entrance looks small but most in the complex had large cars and we had no problems with driving in and out or parking. This is our second visit to the complex and think this cottage is our favourite. Highly recommend , hosting skills exceptional and very friendly. Will return next year if we can.

  • "Sarah was a brilliant host during our stay, very knowledgeable about everything in the area and very friendly and helpful."

The cottage is located in a rural environment, with a beautiful garden for birdwatching and letting the kids play. Even our car, a Volkswagen Bus, was easy to park in the yard off the road. The interior was well presented, clean and functional. The kitchen is well equipped and has everything you need to prepare a meal. The bedroom is a decent size and the kitchen and living area allow you to take a good rest after using the day to visit Bridlington Beach, walk in the country side or what ever you wish. The wonderfull, sandy, beach is close by and we cycled to Bridlington nearly every day, most of the route is car free. We also visted York (1hr. car drive) and the North Yorkshire Moors, a definite tip is to visit the sea bird centre at Bempton Cliffs. We really enjoyed out stay there and will say, with the right accent: "I´ll be back"

  • "The cottage was not very clean, there were cobwebs all over the cottage with spiders in them."

The TV in the lounge area did not work as you couldn't get reception and we were told by the owner this was due to warm weather! More likely that she needs to sort the arial out. There was a tv in the bedroom which did work but I don't expect to have to lay in bed to watch tv. The cottage was small and there was a table and chairs for 4 in the lounge and a table for 2 in the kitchen which made it very cluttered. In the bedroom there was only a rail to hang clothes which was fair enough but it was cluttered with a fabric chest of drawers, a mirror at the back and a quilt cover stacked on it, which made it difficult to hang clothes up. The mirror wasn't near any plugs so drying my hair was difficult. The bathroom needed a good fettle, and the towels provided had seen better days. The mattress didn't seem to fit the bed either, there was a gap at one side. All in all, it was ok but could have been better. The main thing was the tv and Wi-Fi, which is advertised falsely as they don't work.

Thank you for your feedback, we're sorry that your holiday did not meet your expectations. Due to the property location spiders can be found in the property after the cleaners have performed the changeover clean. As we now have a new maticulous cleaning team this is no longer an issue. Unfortunately, previous guests tend to reset the TV in the living room, however we are happy to come to the property to rectify this if we are informed. We have now placed a double rail with multiple hangers for clothes, plus a fabric drawer. We also purchased a summer weight duvet if customers prefer. Thank you for advising of the mirror as this has been removed. Property Owner

  • "French doors advertised were not there, just normal window."

Sink, bowl, draining tray filthy, shower mat filthy. Had to wash crockery before use. Heating on timer so had no control over it and bathroom always cold in morning. Owner did offer money back, but we made do as we'd travelled all that way for a week away.

Thank you for your feedback. Apologies for the listing error concerning the patio doors at the property, they were replaced last year after a female guest advised she felt vulnerable and it was changed. With reference to the cleanliness issues, the owner has expressed how upset she is regarding your disappointment with your stay and did offer a full refund to you during the week. As you arrived early after a long car journey the owner thought she was assisting you by allowing you early entry into the property as her usual check in time is 4pm. By doing this it didn't leave her the opportunity to check that her cleaners had left the property to its usual high standards giving you cause to leave the feedback you did. She cannot apologise enough for this and acknowledges this is why a check in time of 4pm is vital in allowing her allow time to ensure the property is left to its high standards. Thank you again for your feedback. Property Owner

This in itself was fully met, but Sarah Hutchinson did so much more to make us welcome when we rang her for 'key collection arrangements', by giving us very precise directions, actually being there to meet us when we arrived and generally enthusing over the charms of the area. We had all home comforts, as well as Sarah's "colleague" on site, and the property's description in the Sykes e-mails was spot-on. We had wonderful weather too! Overall, extremely satisfied with the outcome.
