    “Had a fabulous time.”

Children liked the bunk beds and the TV in the bedroom. We loved Robin Hoods Bay.

The property

This is a glorious Grade II Listed former fisherman’s cottage which has been lovingly renovated with the comforts of 21st century living, whilst retaining original features such as wood panelling and exposed beams, to create a beautiful holiday cottage, just seconds from the beach. Enter this cottage into a lovely, large sitting room with exposed beams and original wooden shutters at the windows.

There are two large sofas and an arm chair plus a flat screen Freesat TV and DVD and video players.

A cast iron gas-fired log burning stove gives instant heat and a lovely, cosy ambience. The kitchen is well-equipped with modern units and oak work surfaces, a double oven, electric hob, fridge/freezer, washing machine/dryer and microwave.

There is a dining area in the kitchen with a large rustic dining table with a church pew to one side and farmhouse chairs to the other and an iPod dock.

An under-stairs cupboard off the dining area provides a useful storage spot. The cottage has wide flight of stairs with an old lifeboat oar forming the handrail.

At the top of the stairs is a small library of books for guests to enjoy. This charming cottage has three bedrooms.

The first is a master bedroom with an original, ornamental fireplace, chandelier and a 4’6″ brass bed with a deep mattress for extra comfort.

An antique chest of drawers and an antique ‘gentleman’s wardrobe’ provide plenty of storage. A second double bedroom has a further double bed with floor to ceiling cupboards providing lots of storage, exposed floorboards and a cast iron fireplace with lovely sash windows to Sunnyside and beyond. The third bedroom is a family bedroom with a triple bunk bed – the base bed is a 4′ small double bed and the top bunk is a full size 3′ single bed.

This bedroom also has wonderful wooden floorboards and original timer shutters at the windows. The house bathroom has a contemporary bathroom suite including a bath with a shower, WC and hand wash basin with beautiful blue-green Metro tiles. To the side of the cottage are stone steps that lead to the outside space; this comprises a small clifftop garden with a bench and BBQ.

About the location

No village

Chatsworth 1 mile; Bakewell 5 miles.

The pretty village of Baslow lies at the north end of stately Chatsworth House - home to the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire. The village has many unusual and picturesque features including a triple-arched river bridge guarded by a toll house whose doorway is only 3 1/2 feet high! Baslow offers a range of village amenities including shops, pubs and restaurants. Close by is Bakewell, the capital of the Peak District, and home of the famous Bakewell pudding (definitely not tart!), still made locally to an old and secret recipe. Bakewell is at the scenic heart of the Peak District, and with Alton Towers also within easy touring distance, there is plenty for the whole family to enjoy.

Free Wi-Fi Parking permit provided for the two Council-run car parks at the top of the village. One (or two small dogs) welcome at a cost of £30 per pet per stay. Welcome hamper of quality Yorkshire goodies on arrival.
