  • "Lovely property and in a great location!"

Perfect with the train station a short walk down the road to get into Whitby. Everything was provided for and I couldn't fault our stay.

  • "Arden house is a great property for a holiday in the North Yorks Moors."

We had a fab week staying with friends. The beds are really comfy and surrounding area quiet. The lounge has a great log burner and the owner left us some logs for the first couple of nights. It has 2 bathrooms (1 downstairs) so no queuing for showers. It’s 2 mins walk from Sleights train station so handy if u didn’t want to drive into Whitby. There is also a bus stop to Whitby 100m away. There is a quirky pub/hotel 5mins walk away. We didn’t eat there but had a drink. There are lots of lovely walks although some very muddy (lots of rain recently) however the Cinder track wasn’t too muddy and great to walk to Robin Hoods Bay. The Coastal path (Cleveland way) has amazing views but once again very muddy due to all the rain. Would be fab in drier weather. Highly recommend Arden House and the surrounding area for a holiday. Barbara left a lovely welcome back with local goodies which were lovely.

Thank you for your great feedback. Glad you enjoyed your stay .Would love you to return soon. Property Owner

  • "Lovely property in quiet village, but with easy driving access to main roads to all locations."

Beautiful dog friendly beach 10 minutes away. Spotless towels and bedding, with spacious showers, and ample hot water for our party of six. Very clean and appealing throughout when we entered the property. The owner had obviously given thought to the small touches and I would not hesitate in recommending to family and friends .

So pleased you enjoyed your stay we hope to welcome you again soon. Property Owner

  • "We spent a week here with our grandchildren."

The beds were very comfortable and we slept well. A "goodie bag" containing local delicacies was much appreciated. The front garden is a suntrap for most of the day. Parking is easy in the layby across the street. Whitby is 3 miles away and has many attractions. The grandchildren enjoyed searching for (and finding) fossils on the beach at Sandsend Ness. We look forward to a return visit.

  • "Arden House was a fantastic place to stay."

Me and my family have been staying in local similar accommodation for years and we all agreed this was the best yet....the house was spacious, well layed out and had all your modern comforts...the village is amazing and has some local beauties such as Botham's bakery and some amazing dog walks...the accommodation had everything you could wish for and the welcome pack was superb....for a night out I'd recommend the bridge Inn in ruswarp which is only 1.5 miles away...great food and feel..we would highly recommend

  • "Property was filthy."

Had to get cleaners to come back on first day, but because I didn’t I ring for them to come back during our stay to do more inadequate cleaning Sykes and the property owner were not willing to offer compensation. I had to deep clean the house it had months of dirt in it. Unacceptable ‘4 star’ experience. Property full of clutter. Would not recommend to anyone. It also does not have a garden and the front patio is small (and had 5 cigarette butts on the floor ) and the gate opens straight onto a road..so not really suitable for a family with children.

Thank you for your comments on your recent stay at Arden House. I can only say that if you had contacted Yorkshire Coastal Cottages our agent on your arrival they would have sorted out any problems. We have used the same agent and housekeepers for almost 10 years and you may note from all previous reviews that we have not had any negative comments. You had opportunity to raise concerns with myself midweek as I contacted you with a reminder about the refuse bin collection but you did not. Property Owner

  • "We really enjoyed our stay at Arden house!"

It is a perfect quiet locality for exploring Whitby and the surroundings. The house had plenty of space for two families- 4 adults and 3 kids. It is spotlessly clean and decorated very nice with good sized rooms that are bigger than what they look like in photos. Thank you for a lovely stay!

  • "The cottage was in a lovely location, was clean and very well equipped."

When we had an electrical problem it was rectified very quickly. If I was being picky a new non stick frying pan wouldn't have gone amiss, but this was a home away from home. Loved it.

  • "Arden House is a fantastic home from home."

The house contains everything you need to have a great time. We ate in each night, and all the utensils we required, were to hand. All appliances worked perfectly and there were plenty of sockets for our own electrical devices. The furniture is of good quality and all the beds were extremely comfortable so all eight members of our party, slept well each night. The location of the house, in a quiet residential area, means noise levels are to a minimum, even though the house is on a through route for the area. All in all, we had the best time that will be remembered, for all the right reasons, for years to come.

  • "We felt that the house was very welcoming and well resourced, except for oven gloves and strangely a dustpan, plenty of brooms."

Sleights exceeded our expectations as a lovely area. Great walks, two very food pubs, we particularly lovedSalmon leaps which had just re- opened but the staff went above and beyond. Fantastic garden centre and boating, steam train at Ruswarp. Only downside was unreliable buses.

  • "It was a warm week and it would have been good to have an alternative to the thick duvets, e."

    G. lighter duvets or a sheet. It was a real negative to be asked to return the keys to the office in Whitby. It added 30 minutes to a journey home of 6 hours and at that time (9.45am) there were no parking spaces in Skinner Street. Could they not be left in a key safe at the property or with a neighbour? The basket of provisions was really great! Excellent quality and most welcome. Thanks. We enjoyed the holiday very much indeed.
