“The sofa was very uncomfortable as past it's best and the sofa legs were very unstable While there was lots of plates, glasses,, cutlery etc there was a lack of cooking utensils and no breadbin.”

Nowhere in the shower for toiletries. No soapdish. Beds lovely and comfy but not much room to get round them. Hot tub great. Not much in the village except the fabulous deli.

The property

Bubwith 0.4 miles.

This lovely semi-detached cottage forms part of the Gunby Hall Estate dating back to the 1700s.

Surrounded by fields and close to the meandering River Derwent, there are some wonderful walks straight from the cottage.

Gunby Hall Cottage has been beautifully renovated from what was a farm worker's cottage and now offers 21st century living with lots of home comforts for your family holiday, from the woodburner to the private hot tub, which all help to make this the ideal holiday base whatever the season.

The wonderful stone flags throughout the ground floor just add to the general ambience of the cottage and really complement the quality finishes and decor.

There is a choice of two patio areas for dining alfresco or for just relaxing next to the hot tub.

There are two comfortable bedrooms, both providing the perfect place for a good night’s sleep.

Bubwith is an ancient parish mentioned in the Domesday Book and the nearby Breighton airfield was used by Wellington, Lancaster and Halifax bombers during the Second World War.

Nowadays, Bubwith is a pleasant village offering a choice of facilities, including a superb delicatessen.

York is within a half an hour's drive and is rich in ancient history, boasting a wealth of visitor attractions that appeal to everyone.

York is renowned for its exquisite architecture, web of quaint cobbled streets, the iconic York Minster and Bettys tea rooms.

The coastal resorts of Bridlington and Hornsea are both within a comfortable hour's drive and the minster town of Beverley, one of Yorkshire's best kept secrets, is closer still.

Beverley features a lively market, 13th century Minster and excellent flat racing and still remains refreshingly unspoilt.

This is a wonderful holiday base for your well deserved break.
