  • "Farndale Cottage was delightful in itself, in its location and was very well appointed."

The only points I would raise are that it should perhaps be made more prominent in the listing that there is no shower at the property. Also it should be made clearer that anyone with mobility issues will struggle getting in and out of the rear entrance. However, all of that aside personally I wouldn’t hesitate to visit Farndale Cottage again.

Make sure that the oven has been cleaned prior to knew let. 15.5 togg duvets are far to heavy for the summer months a lighter togg would be more comfortable.

Perfectly placed to be able to explore the surrounding area including Whitby, Scarborough and York. Thornton le dale was a great small village and recommended the local pub the New Inn for excellent food. Hope to come back soon and would certainly recommend to anyone wanting to visit this area.

Well presented with everything we needed to make our holiday a great experience. Village is nice and the people are really friendly and helpful. Lots to do around the area and I found the parking space was fine and valuable for coming and going. We hope to return as the cottage is a credit to its owner.

  • "Wonderful cottage in a lovely village well placed for exploring the moors and coast."

Enjoyed the local tea shop and ice cream parlour! Beautiful decor throughout, attention to detail and a generous welcome basket were appreciated. The cottage was warm and cosy and a lovely base for our stay. We were made aware of low shower head pressure and how a fix will come in soon, but this was the only small niggle, the bath was beautiful though and a nice spacious bathroom. Great there is a parking space at the back, it’s small but we have a 4x4 and managed to reverse in fine. The cute garden space had some very nice features too. We will definitely stay again and would recommend +++ Thanks :)

  • "The cottage was stunning and in a great location just a short walk to the village centre."

The cottage itself was immaculate as was the fantastic garden. The gift basket was a lovely touch and the owner Lucy was really helpful when I had some questions around what was open locally. Our holiday was so great we have rebooked for late September. A little shout out for the village too. Really pretty and everyone were really kind and happy to have the tourists back.

  • "We found the property clean and tidy The property had some very pleasant features well thought out The welcoming pack was very useful The only drawback for me being in my seventies and reasonably active access to the keysafe and property from the rear was problematical because of the very steep steps at the rear."

This however will not stop me using Sykes in the future or visiting the Pickering area.

  • "Lovely cottage in a lovely little village."

The house was very easy to keep warm, the beds very comfy & everything needed was provided. It's within walking distance of two pubs (very important) & there's a Lidl in Pickering just five minutes up the road. Also, there are plenty of country walks straight out of the door. Would highly recommend this cottage.

  • "The cottage was lovely and clean with a generous welcome pack when we arrived."

I was disappointed the main road outside wasn't mentioned as the noise of the traffic was rather loud inside the cottage. Overall a lovely place to stay.

  • "Farndale Cottage is presented and equipped very well."

We appreciated the welcome pack very much! The cottage front is on the main road, resulting in some traffic noise, but the pretty garden at the back is secluded and made a good place to sit out after a busy day exploring. Thornton-le-Dale had everything we needed re supplies and eating out. It was extremely central to all the places we wanted to visit. All in all a much enjoyed holiday. Thank you.!

  • "We had a truly enjoyable week in this stunning cottage."

Just need to be careful with the back steps and also parking. We found spaces out front further down as we scraped our car. With cars across from the small drive there is barely any room to manoeuvre. Other than that the cottage is fantastic and the village was stunning. We hope to return at some point and hope everyone treats this cottage with respect as there has been hard work put into it.

  • "The presentation of Farndale Cottage on our arrival was excellent, the Owner has really excelled in all her thoughtful care and preparations to make our holiday as pleasant, comfortable and relaxing as possible."

Farndale Cottage is ideally located in the lovely village of Thornton le Dale which is perfectly positioned for exploring North Yorkshire National Park and the coastal seaside resorts. Off street parking is available at the rear of the property, although it is essential to reverse in from one direction only (approach from Church end of Church Lane, not with front of car pointing in direction of Church) There is some road noise from the busy road at the front of the property, but after two nights it doesn't appear to be as intrusive as on the first night (and when we got back home it seemed strangely quiet !) We enjoyed a lovely holiday and a significant contributor to this pleasant week was Farndale Cottage and the Owners effort to achieve this high standard of presentation. Thank you for the 'Welcome Pack', Farndale Cottage is a credit to you. We would definitely seek to book again if/when we return to this part of the country again for a future holiday.
