  • "Black mould in shower enclosure, very superficially cleaned property I."

E like g hairs everywhere, dirty pots, ripped pillow case. Arrived to a very cold flat, heating was not working correctly, radiators cold to the top of them and lots of groaning and noise from the hallway radiators in particular. Had to leave it on full all day to be warm on the night. Reported, Sykes very slow at responding, plumber was arranged and was instructed to leave key in the key safe, we did as instructed and left for the day. On the day the plumber was due, we received a message that the owner had cancelled the plumber, reason we had to be present. We had planned to go out the following day and did not call to rearranged. We decided to leave a day early

We are very sorry to hear of the problems that you had and apologise if they dimished the quality of your stay. Both ourselves and Sykes tried to contact you several times to arrange for the plumber to have access to the property, but we were unsuccessful in our attempts, by both phone and email. The plumbers have now visited the property, and the problem has been resolved. It is unfortunate that we were not made aware of any cleaning issues on your arrival to the property. Had this of been raised with us, we would have asked the cleaner to come immediately to rectify this for you. We have visited the property today and while there is no black mould on the tiles, we are aware the grey grouting has discoloured and becomes darker when wet. We are looking to have the shower area completely re-tiled as soon as we can. Property Owner

May not be your problem but uncollected rubbish bins and bags under stairwell begining to smell and be unsightly, also black mould on shower making it unpleasent to use

We are sorry to hear this was your experience, the cleaning company were contacted and asked to rectify this straight away, this was caused by an access issue earlier in the week. The tiles in the shower have been cleaned thoroughly and we are just waiting for them to be regrouted. We welcome all feedback and try to resolve any issues as soon as possible. Property Owner

  • "We stayed at Stonedale Nook in May this year and it was lovely, clean and tidy and in an excellent area which is why we booked for a longer stay."

HOWEVER this time we were in for some disappointment. The apartment wasnt clean! There were cobwebs everywhere, the surfaces were covered in dust, the shower was filthy with black mould up one wall of it. There was food on the floor. We had to wash the plates and cups because they had food and tea stains on them. The bin outside was overflowing and we had to leave our rubbish on top. There werent any cleaning products, no bin bags ,no toilet rolls, no oven gloves, only one shelf in the oven!. There were no instructions for any of the appliances. We had requested the bed to be separated into two singles but this hadnt been done so we had to wait in for someone to come and do it. (This was also the case in May). The contact number wasnt answered as it was for the doctors surgery below and there wasnt anyone there for the whole week we were there so we had to go through Sykes who sorted out the bed problem for us. I would love to stay here again because Thornton le Dale is a beautiful place. We couldnt understand why the apartment was so uncared for since the last time we stayed a mere three months.

We are sorry to hear that this was your experience. This shouldn't have happened, their seems to have been a miscommunication with the cleaners. However, I do understand that the cleaners came and rectified the problem. We were not aware of any cleaning issues at the time otherwise these would have also been resolved. We welcome all feedback and try to resolve any issues as soon as possible. Property Owner

  • "Whilst the accomodation was comfortable enough, my view is that the photograph and information were rather misleading."

Had I known about parking difficulties and the fact that the accomodation is right next to a very busy road, I would not have chosen it. The photograph should include the proximity to the road and the information should include the fact that there is very limited parking (in the high season anyway). We were unable to unload the car on arrival

  • "Brilliant apartment."

Very clean and excellent location. I am really picky when it comes to holiday accommodation and I can’t think of any negatives at all. I will definitely book it again in the future.

  • "This apartment is perfect for a couple and right in the centre for shops, cafes, pubs etc."

The kitchen is well stocked with utensils, crockery etc. The bed and sofa are extremely comfortable and there is plenty of storage space (even though there aren’t any wardrobes). We couldn’t find any instructions from the owner at all but there was a folder from Sykes with some basic information about the local area. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay there again.

  • "Nice, pretty quiet, and cosy apartment."

Only thing we might suggest is that a towel rail/stand in the bathroom might be a useful additions to the amenities. WiFi in this area didn't seem to very reliable in the places that had it either. We had data on our mobiles which substituted for this.

  • "The flat was lovely clean and comfortable, furniture was of high quality and situation in the heart of the village so access to shops and restaurants, we , even had access to WiFi."

Just a few small issues It would have been good to have had some instructions of how to work the cooker as it was a bit of pop luck, also glass mixing bowl that can be put on the microwave would have be useful. If you like large towels then you will need to take your own, those supplied are very small. Unfortunately the pole to open the bedroom velux window was missing so we were unable to open the window or open the blind as it was to high to reach even with an over 6ft tall husband.

  • "The outside staircase is definitely not a problem and I am a bit dithery but managed it easily."

The extreme heat this last week meant windows had to be open all the time and the road at this time of year is very noisy with harvest vehicles/tractors. The bedroom is at the back so much quieter than sitting room. The cleanliness was very good. Might have liked WiFi, but as we are older generation not really a problem. The kitchen is very well equipped for a cook.

  • "We really enjoyed our 2 night get away to this cottage, it was everything plus more than we expected."

The location was perfect, we went to Dalby Forest which is less than a 5 minute car journey away and then to Scarborough the day after which was only 25 minutes away. Lovely independent shops located near the cottage. We would highly recommend this cottage for a couple of nights away in the UK!
