This was our second visit to Bluebell - what appealed to us most was the fantastic layout of this stunning property, all ensuite rooms with a central glass-roofed atrium as the main social space, a well equipped kitchen, a lounge with huge screen and our very own pub! As we were celebrating significant birthdays, the pub was a really welcome feature, where we could all hang out and share a glass of two. We ordered in fish and chips from Nafferton Fisheries, who did a brilliant job, and self-catered the rest of the time thanks to a rather large initial order with Asda, who are well used to delivering to Bluebell. With dog friendly rooms and lots of outdoor space, this is truly a venue for all seasons. For January, we had unbelievable weather. Blue skies and sunshine, making it a real pleasure to explore Bridlington's coastline, up to Flamborough Head. The men enjoyed cycling in Dalby Forest, about 45 mins away and Beverley with its Minster and pretty town centre was only 20 miles away. All in all, a great space - and communication with Mark was prompt and efficient... and on a price per head basis, it's remarkably good value. We will definitely be back for a third visit.

The property

This former hotel is in the village of Burton Agnes, set between Bridlington and Driffield and offers lovely accommodation for larger parties.

The Blue Bell strikes all the right notes and is a perfect venue for that special day as the central room with its feature glass atrium roof seats up to 100 guests.

The bedrooms are split across three areas with twelve in the main house, four set around a courtyard and two duplex apartments.

All the bedrooms are en-suite with the majority offering super king-size beds which can be changed to create twin rooms.

The master suite is a spacious indulgence with two bathrooms, whilst there is a family duplex room which can sleep up to fourteen.

There is a large kitchen, perfect for a chef to create mouth-watering meals and there is a pub on-site which really provides all your needs under one stunning roof and the hot tub adds the icing on the cake.

The Blue Bell is a wonderful choice for family gatherings as the central room doubles up as a games room and dining room with standard seating for 40 guests.

There are two sitting rooms, one of which is known as the snug as it has an open fire where you can sit, raise your glasses and toast the occasion.

In the village, Burton Agnes Hall is a magnificent Elizabethan mansion and well worthy of a visit to both the house and gardens.

Walkers and cyclists, history and culture buffs, beach and seascape seekers are all catered for here.

The stunning Yorkshire Coast is a mere 6 miles away offering sandy beaches and towering majestic cliffs full of seabirds and the Yorkshire Wolds is a rolling landscape dotted with pretty villages.

The lovely market town of Beverley is under 20 miles away and offers a wealth of things to do, there are independent boutiques and shops within charming courtyards and cobbled streets.

The Georgian Quarter is architecturally fascinating with many listed buildings including the 15th century North Bar and at the heart of the town is the Gothic cathedral of Beverley Minster.

Beverley Racecourse is set in the stunning surroundings of The Westwood which has beautiful common grounds with good walks and views of the town.

The accommodation is all there ready for you and all you have to do is provide the occasion!

About the location

BURTON AGNES

Bridlington 6 miles; Driffield 6.7 miles.

Burton Agnes is a village 6 miles from Bridlington and is famous for the Elizabethan stately home, Burton Agnes Hall, built between 1598 and 1610. The house has been described as ‘the perfect English house’ and one of the twenty best English houses alongside Windsor Castle, Buckingham Palace and Chatsworth House. The house is lived in and has been in the care of the same family for more than four hundred years. The walled gardens and woodland walks are beautiful. Nearby Bridlington has two award-winning beaches of golden sand stretching out on either side of the historic harbour, bustling with activity. Beautifully designed promenades provide everything from fun-fairs to quiet places where you can sit and watch the world go by. Shops, attractions, restaurants and the historic 'Old Town' of Bridlington offer a fascinating contrast to life on the beach, where the latest Dad's Army has been filmed, whilst the Bridlington Spa Theatre on the front provides evening entertainment. A great area for bird and nature lovers, or simply for touring.
