A fabulous stone barn conversion, attached to the owners’ property, on the edge of the moorland village of Castleton, in the heart of the North York Moors National Park.

With stunning, panoramic views, this 4-star gold award property offers superb all ground floor accommodation, with underfloor heating throughout.

The spacious, open plan living area has a high vaulted ceiling with exposed timbers, oak flooring and doors, while lovely comfortable seating creates a warm and homely feel.

The quality kitchen is to one end and has oak cupboards and granite worktops, whilst the travertine tiled bathroom boasts a contemporary freestanding bath, perfect for a long, luxurious soak after a day’s walking!

With the added benefit of a walk-in shower and ground floor bedrooms, the property is suitable for those with limited mobility.

Doors from the sitting room open onto a large balcony with seating, which takes in the spectacular, sweeping views over beautiful countryside, a wonderful, tranquil spot to sit and relax as you watch the sun go down with a glass of wine.

A few minutes’ walk brings you into the village centre, which has excellent facilities, including two pubs, a village store, a Co-op, a Post Office and a traditional tea room, which serves a very good breakfast!

The local station is part of the Esk Valley route, which provides a wonderful trip through the pretty villages and moorland countryside from Teesside to Whitby, whilst the abundance of public footpaths from Castleton makes this area a walker’s paradise.

Two miles away is the Danby Moors Centre, with its exhibitions, walking trails and a café, well worth visiting at any time of year.

With the historic market towns of Helmsley and Pickering both an easy drive away, along with the popular seaside port of Whitby just 18 miles away, the area has something to offer for everyone.

Surrounded by stunning scenery, this bustling village offers superb amenities including two pubs, both serving great food, a village shop, a convenience store, a Post Office, tea rooms and a small art gallery. There is a railway station serving the Esk Valley and Whitby, which also links with the steam line to the attractive market town of Pickering. The Camphill Village Trust community of Botton is nearby, with its craft workshops and shops selling home produced food, craft items and books. The historic city of York is just over an hour away, and the coastal towns and villages of Whitby, Staithes, Robin Hood's Bay and Sandsend with its lovely beach, are within easy driving distance, and well worth a visit.
