  • "This is a lovely caravan and everything in it was brilliant."

My only constructive criticism would be that I think they need to provide a new mattress for the double bed. It was a pleasure to stay in such a lovely caravan. Thank you

  • "Great accommodation."

But TV's where for ever losing signal.some night's nothing all night.Walk in shower was hard to adjust the temperature. The owner of the property gave us abuse and fowl language threat to come and throw us out of the property 74 and 70 yrs The holiday was for wifes 70th.

I did not threaten to throw you out I put the phone down on you as you rang me at 11.48pm verbally abusing me saying the TV had ruined your entire holiday. You started screaming at me after waking me up so I just ended the call. We have never had a problem with the TVs in the lodge and the people that stayed after you also had no problem Property Owner

  • "Was nervous to stay at the property as we had not realised it was on a Park dean campsite, but our worries were short lived as it was very quiet around the lodge, other than a few people walking by loudly at pub closing time."

Well equipped, comfortable, spacious caravan as well. Nice surprise to have two sets of bunk beds as opposed to twin beds so I could sleep in a bedroom and not on the pull out in the lounge. Loved that we had a washing machine/dryer combo. Would have loved a drying rack for clothes though, to save energy. Would love to see more outdoor chairs on the deck, as the table outside only sits 4. Carpet in living room was not particularly clean, could see plenty of dog hair on it, and cupboards in kitchen needed a deep clean on the fronts. Strange damp smell in the bedrooms. Good facilities close by for essentials, places to eat etc, add on charges available yo use entertainment facilities. Makes it a great all weather destination. We had lovely weather so Didn’t need to use.

  • "Although the lodge was large and initially looked really nice it wasn’t as clean as expected, the oven wasn’t clean, the mirrors were dirty and there was thick dust on the tv stand."

There was a damp smell around the kitchen sink. However the furniture and beds were really comfortable and I would consider staying in a similar lodge again.

  • "We had a wonderful stay at the Skipsea lodge, the accommodation is stunning."

However I would have given better stars if it hadn’t been for the sleeping arrangements. We took an older member of our family with us and had to give her the master bedroom as the bunk beds were totally unsuitable for her to get in and out of with her mobility. They weren’t too easy for me and my partner either. I know there was a sofa bed in the main area but this wasn’t suitable as our other family member got up early each day. The only other gripe and this is nothing to do with the owners is that getting food in the area is a problem. First night we went out and The board inn was shut, the tiger inn wasn’t serving, so we went back to the site only to find most of the food on the menu was sold out. This was pretty much the same the following night. We tried 2 pubs on Wednesday only to be told they were fully booked, so we only managed one meal out on the Thursday when we booked at the board inn. So best to book in advance!! Besides that we had a fantastic time, the weather was fantastic, the accommodation stunning and hopefully we will return. Thank you!

Thank you for your feedback and hope to welcome you back again soon Property Owner

  • "The beach access has been eroded away by the sea, and the only way down was by hopping a fence and making your way down an unofficial path."

There are few places to get back up and it would be easy to get cut off by the tide. Overall the beach nearest the site was disappointing due to litter and heavy erosion. The sea front area is very dilapidated. Hornsea has the nearest quality beach with good access, facilities and parking.

  • "The accommodation was as expected but the picture was a little misleading it shows a barbecue and an umbrella but neither was available."

I contacted the owner and asked where we could find the umbrella he advised the nearest B&Q, bit rude. The toilet seat was broken in the en suite but a replacement was in the wardrobe emailed the owner and the seat was fitted the next day, very good. The shower needs a deep clean as it is black with mold behind the doors and along the runners. I would have expected better in these times of COVID and supposedly extra cleaning etc. The double mattress was bigger than the bed base very odd. The owners booklet needs updating as it explains how to use the umbrella and bbq and replacement gas on request though this was not an option. There was no guest book for feedback to the owner unusual for a Sykes accommodation. Apart from these little niggles the lodge was comfortable for four people in a quiet corner of the park.

Thank you for your email. I can confirm that the BBQ was removed from Sykes listing in July 2020 and you booked in 2021. However, we have now added a note to the website that the BBQ and umbrella in the pictures, are no longer available. The toilet seat was not broken when the property was cleaned before your arrival, but we do keep a spare in each property incase it needs changing during a guest's stay. The bed is a fixed bed and the mattress is made for that bed, as it is a special bed made for a Lodge and fits perfectly. Thank you again for your comments. Property Owner

  • "Location / walk to the beach is completely misleading !"

We specifically booked this lodge based on the advert that stated “ right on the coastline and a few minutes walk to the beach”. We have very busy lives and have to drive a lot . We just wanted a few days away when we didn’t have to drive at all because we could just walk the dogs to the beach. The advert sounded perfect but it is completely untrue and you cannot walk to the beach in fact you can not see it . I am aware of coastal erosion on the east coast but am not familiar with the actual area . The site had a road closed sign and access to the beach is blocked - and the signs look like they have been there for quite a while too so plenty of time to change the advert. Instead we had to drive quite some way to a beach- so not the break we expected at all. Complete misrepresentation ! Shame because the lodge itself was nice and clean with good facilities.

  • "Great lodge and comfort is great."

Having the 2 bathrooms was a great benefit and also the patio area was great. Beds very comfortable we thought and the 2 single beds can be pushed together if couples join. They provide a couple of dishwasher tablets, sanitation (Current Covid issues), tea, coffee, sugar and other basics like washing up liquid and a couple of toilet rolls. Wi-Fi was also very good and on your own private network. Only feedback points: TV’s are not smart and needs to be updated on your listing. (Even better, change to smart TVs as this would be a great benefit on rainy days. No BBQ as shown in pictures. Cannot access the beach and although this is not advertised and the owners to provide, it would be good for customers to know. Please replace the sharp knifes, very blunt!. Apart from the feedback above, I honestly will be back and would stay longer if they did have the smart TVs.

  • "What a beautiful Lodge."

It was so clean and comfortable. Just like home from home. The beds were really comfortable and I loved the pillows, like sleeping on a cloud! The holiday park was so well kept and the Lodge is situated at the far end of the park so it was very quiet and peaceful. We were very lucky with the weather, sunshine every day, which made our stay even more enjoyable. I would love to own a Lodge like Skipsea Lodge. I would spend all summer there. I cannot fault this place except for one thing - as the weather was so good we sat out a good deal but were disappointed that there was no parasol for the table. Just that one small thing, but we LOVED our stay. Thank you to the owners for such a gorgeous place to stay. I would love to come back!

The weather was wet for the whole time but the comfortable accommodation still enabled us to have an enjoyable break. The shop was well stocked with essentials and there were numerous facilities for those who wished to use them. On a personal level, we had missed the" pet friendly" note in the description and this could have been an issue with my wife's allergies, however this did not detract from our stay. We would recommend this lodge as a very well equipped and comfortable place to stay.

Very spacious, extremely comfortable and everything inside looked like new. Beds very comfortable. Outside decking was convenient to let our dog wander and sit in the sun as was the outside seating very relaxing for enjoying a the quietness of the site. We visited in May and the site was very quiet but found someone always wanted to chat, especially if you have a dog. Would highly recommend this lodge for a relaxing holiday. The shop was well stocked and the site was extremely clean and well cared for. Cannot comment on site facilities as did not use them as there are many places to visit in the area.
