The property

Enjoying an idyllic position between the majestic North York Moors National Park and the dramatic coast where you will find the resort town of Scarborough is this 18th century, Grade II listed, semi-detached abode, which dates back over 200 years.

1 Church Cottages.

Boasting three floors of contemporary styling, this spacious accommodation is perfect for a family seeking a relaxing holiday to this corner of North Yorkshire.

Upon entering the cottage, be presented by a stylish kitchen, complemented with rustic slate floors, 18th century beams, glossy cherry cabinets and vintage aspects, where a Range cooker takes centre stage before the contemporary appliances required to cater for yourselves for the duration of your family holiday.

Gather your loved ones at the dining table, perfect for planning the next day’s adventure or opening up something chilled to celebrate a wonderful break to Yorkshire.

Beyond here is the inviting sitting room, where during the winter months the woodburning stove is most welcomed as you curl up and tune into the 42" TV, with FreeSat or DVD player, and look out to the pretty Victorian church.

Alternatively, head up to the first-floor snug/games room which provides an additional seating area, oak features, a marvellous glass bannister and dual aspect windows, ideal if you seek an hour’s peace and quiet for delving into a good book before heading to bed.

On this floor you will also find a country-cottage style double bedroom and a characterful family bathroom with 18th century beams, full travertine marble tile and a porcelain, soft close toilet seat, whilst on the second floor lies a four poster bedroom with air conditioning and views out to Cloughton Woods, providing varying sleeping quarters for you and your loved ones.

To the outside, there is an off-road parking space as well as a quaint garden area, providing a delightful spot for a refreshing beverage during a summer’s morning or a balmy evening to catch the final glimpses of sunshine.

A short stroll through the village of Cloughton with a selection of pubs boasting a welcoming atmosphere and a delicious dining menu to match.

For those feeling energetic, find a number of outdoor activities upon the North Yorkshire Moors, as well as a superb coastal walk upon the Cleveland Way where you will be met by Robin Hood's Bay and the resort town of Scarborough along the way.

Scarborough comes with a whole host of attractions to suit a family of all ages and tastes, including sandy beaches, a castle and the SEA LIFE centre.

1 Church Cottages promises an action-packed getaway for the whole family.

About the location

Scarborough 4.8 miles; Ravenscar 6.3 miles; Robin Hood's Bay 11.6 miles; Whitby 14.8 miles.

Cloughton lies just under five miles north of Scarborough, on the edge of the North York Moors National Park. Home to old cottages lining the main street and more modern developments behind, the village boasts an eclectic mix of contemporary and traditional to bring a charming atmosphere to all its visitors, as well as offering a welcoming farm shop where you can pick up any essentials and two pubs on the main street and two on the outskirts. Close by is the popular 'Cinder Track', a disused 23 mile long railway track, that's now used for walking, cycling and horse riding. There is easy access to the Cleveland Way, a long distance trail that hugs the cliff top as it winds its way to Hayburn Wyke, a rocky cove with a waterfall and inn, Robin Hood's Bay and beyond to the north and south to Scarborough. Popular since Victorian times, this vibrant seaside town of Scarborough retains many of its original fine buildings, parks and gardens, as well as its historic castle which overlooks the town. North Bay and South Bay provide two superb stretches of beautiful, golden sandy beaches, popular with families and small children. There are a number of child-friendly activities and many excellent visitor attractions for grown-ups too, including the Stephen Joseph Theatre, Scarborough Spa and Scarborough Open Air Theatre for live music. There are plenty of outdoor activities within easy reach too, with golf courses, coastal walks along the Cleveland Way, stunning cycle routes such as the old railway to Whitby, beautiful sailing and championship quality surfing, offering something for every taste. Ideally situated for touring both the coast and countryside, Cloughton is an ideal base for a fun-filled break at any time of year.
