It is immaculate with everything you could wish for. Very well equipped. There was tea coffee etc. it’s very well looked after. At first I had difficulty with the door however, it is easy when you get the knack. When opening it needs pulling towards you, and when closing from inside, it needs pushing. Simple. The village people are very friendly and the village is kept very clean and welcoming. There is a shop as well as two pups though the one next door wasn’t open at the time we went. The train runs from the village. We may very well return to the village in the future and at the same property. The owner Alina, was very helpful taking us through working the tv and heating. Full marks is what we will rate this property. Highly recommend it.

Immaculately clean and well presented. We stayed for 4 nights and slept so well, the beds are very comfortable and bedding so soft. We went at a freezing time of year and the property was really warm and cosy. It also has a nice jacuzzi bath to relax in after a long day's hiking. Fantastic location really close to the train station, I'd recommend walking along the canal into Skipton and catching the train back.

The village is lovely and well located to visit local towns and the steam train. We travelled with our 1 year old.
There are two nice pubs in the village and both very welcoming. There is a well stocked convince shop. There is also an outdoor children's play area.
Parking wasn't an issue and we have a large car, we used street parking. We also used the train as it is so close.
The bathroom is lovely, kitchen very well equipped and the biggest TV in there! Nice touches throughout and welcoming.
The only thing that would stop us returning would be the king sized bed, it appeared to have wooden pieces under the mattress and sloped which made it difficult to get a good night's sleep.

The pictures make the cottage look amazing but it is even better in real life. Prior to the holiday we had a lovely chat with Alina (owner) who gave some great recommendations as to what to do and where to go. Alina was really friendly and happy to answer any questions we had during our stay. The cottage was well equipped and had everything we needed. We loved the little signs in the cupboards directing us to extra glasses or sharp knives. When we arrived, Alina had arranged a welcome pack which was over and above our expectations - bread, milk, biscuits, kettle chips, treats for our daughters, even bubble bath and shower gel a lovely touch that we didn't expect. The beds were really comfortable too.
Location-wise, it was perfect for us. Both pubs are really welcoming; we could have used the very regular train to Skipton in the evening too but we didn't need to. We would definitely recommend visiting Bolton Abbey, especially if you have the fantastic weather we had.

"York Cottage is a fabulous base for exploring the Yorkshire Dales."
Alina, the property owner was absolutely exceptional with her kindness and attention to detail. On the one occasion I contacted her, she was very quick to respond and to ensure that we were having a good holiday. The village of Cononley is well connected by train and bus, enabling us to leave the car behind on many occasions. The village is charming and you can begin walks from the front door. We would recommend the walk to Lothersdale which has a great pub serving excellent food and beers, although a little pricey. (Beware, the footpath sign in Cononley reads Lothersdale 1 mile - it's nearer to 3, but only 2 miles taking the road home - downhill!). The only downside of York Cottage was that the pub next door to the property, The New Inn, no longer serves any food, which combined with the closures of the Chinese Take Away and the Post Office/ convenience store, mean that you need to have food with you on the first evening. It's a very friendly pub and worth going in for a drink. We were lucky enough to have good weather but that meant that other drinkers sat out until late on the Friday and Saturday evenings, with associated loud conversations and car door banging. Other than that it was a quiet village with not much through traffic, mainly just tractors taking their hay bales up the hill (keep your wing mirrors in on you car.) We haven't given the property full marks for comfort because with the downstairs configuration, it's impossible to curl up and watch TV after a hard day's walking. All in all, we would still recommend this cottage to others because the positives definitely outweigh the negatives.
