  • "A lovely cosy cottage."

Plenty of cooking utensils in the kitchen. Comfy settees in the lounge and open fire if needed. Beds very comfortable and beautiful views from all front windows. If anything a new bathroom suite would have Improved the bathroom. The gardens are beautiful and plenty of places to sit and enjoy the view. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and had the added enjoyment of sunshine most days. Will definitely be going back next year. Will definitely be going back next year.

Ian pop round to introduce himself and asked if we needed anything whilst settling in. The accommodation is fantastic, very cosy and comfortable. Managed to forget about the car, used the bus in both directions. We had a great time and look forward to returning. Cottage spacious with everything you would possibly need including iron, ironing board and hàirdryer. Fixtures and fittings excellent especially the recliner settee ànd the double bed, so comfy. Kitchen utensils ect of good quality. Landscaping immaculate, garden furniture Al quality. We also enjoyed the Tiger Inn minutes from the cottage. Very friendly pub and food was excellent. The road outside the cottage has no street lights or pathways so a torch is a must. Thank you Ian until our next visit. Sharon and Steve from Bolton.

  • "We had a lovely time at the cottage."

Garden was beautiful and big for the dog to run around and the cottage was in a great location. The owners very friendly and helpful too. The only negatives was that the kitchen was basic - no extractor fan and the shower head kept sliding down. These two points would not stop me visiting the cottage again though. The sofas in the lounge both extremely comfortable to relax on and watch tv. The bus stop outside was also great to hop onto.

Thank you for your kind words, we are so pleased that you had an enjoyable time. It's great that you enjoyed the new sofas, the double mattress is brand new too and very comfortable too i'm told. We are sorry you found the kitchen basic though am pleased to report that we've updated it with a brand new slimline dishwasher to make some of the chores a little bit easier for your well deserved break. The shower head was an easy fix and we hope to see you again. kind regards. Property Owner

Carl was brilliant in understanding the needs of our dog, and recommended a superb beach which was dog friendly and secure, so she could run free which she loved! We found the mattress on the bed rather worn and uncomfortable. Maybe time to replace it.

Thank you for your feedback, we do appreciate it. We have new decorations and heating organised for the cottage in a few months time. The mattress has been replaced with a brand new one. Kind regards Property Owner

I visit the area every year and it will definitely be at the top of the shortlist for next time. Off street parking was essential for me, which it has, right next to the cottage. I found the price to be also perfectly agreeable.

  • "Overall, this was exactly what we were looking for."

My only reason for not being entirely happy, was due to finding rubbish under the bed. It was my two year old nephew who actually found an old sock and some a crumpled up paper whilst he was playing and crawling around the floor in the bedroom. This absolutely did not ruin our stay, but it certainly made me question the cleanliness of the rest of the cottage. On a positive note, the kitchen was well stocked with equipment and the outdoor play area was an added bonus for my nephew! We will will be returning without a doubt, and will be bringing more family and friends with us next time!

Hello we are so sorry to hear that and have spoken to our cleaning team. It was an oversight and misunderstanding on someone's behalf. We are pleased it has not put you off and look forward to meeting your extended family. We have also been redecorating, we hope you like it. Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely weeks stay at The Cottage the owners greeted us on arrival were friendly but not intrusive a welcome pack was provided."

The Cottage has a extensive garden surrounding where you can see Staithes in the distance and open fields at the front. There is a main road and bus stop next to the cottage but you can hardly hear any noise as the cottage walls are so thick. Please be mindful that the garden is not fully enclosed if you are taking a dog that absconds. We kept ours on the lead in the garden. We loved the location and cottage so much and have booked again for 2023

We are so pleased that you had a good time here at Ings Farm. When you next visit we are very happy to keep the main gate closed for you. we have been redecorating the cottage and hope you like it. We look forward to seeing you again soon. Property Owner

  • "A well equipped and clean property, well kept gardens and plenty of off road parking."

The owners live on site and are helpful, friendly and can’t do enough to make your stay the best it can be (or are happy enough to leave you to it). Plenty to see and do and walks right from your door. The negatives: Unless you are used to traffic noise or are a heavy sleeper, you may want to take some ear plugs. The shower is an over bath electric one with curtain and is only adequate. Single upstairs toilet. The garden is not dog friendly as the gate to the main road is mostly open. The Cottage is ready for a makeover (which I believe is planned). Part of this could be for (those who aren’t early risers) blackout blinds/curtains in the bedrooms hall and loo, this would be a nice touch though not essential. Summary: would we stay there again? A resounding yes, once the planned update is done. Thank you for a great weeks holiday.

Thank you very much for your feedback and leaving the Cottage clean and tidy. You are welcome anytime. Property Owner

  • "Recently finished a long weekend here and would highly recommend."

The cottage has 2 other rentals attached so would be great for larger parties. Has had new owners in the last month and can see from the old visitor book that the old owners were highly thought off and old frequent visitors are reluctant to come again with new owners. I never met the old owners, but the new owners Carl and especially Ian are lovely. So warm and friendly. They are the perfect hosts. Now the property, it is the least modernised of the 3 properties but it's still warm and cosy. We've not needed the heating on at all. We have lit the fire late on every night, but more for aesthetics than heat. The gardens are beautiful, so many spaces to sit and eat outside. You cook literally follow the sun around. The area near the well must be a real sun trap in the summer. We haven't found the road loud, and we live in a quiet cul de sac. It may be different in summer when you need windows open though. However we have sat outside a lot, and it hasn't bothered us. The area is stunning, we've walked along the Cleveland Way in both directions. Which is only approx 10 mins walk away down the road. The local pubs seem good, with friendly staff. Would I recommend to friends and family? Definitely. Would we come again? Again yes, as I feel we haven't touched on what the area has to offer and this Cottage is an ideal base.

Thank you so much for your considered feedback. It was our pleasure meeting you both and yes the well area is a suntrap. We would be very pleased to host you again if you come back this way. Property Owner

About the location

STAITHES

Whitby 10 miles.

The charming and sleepy seaside village of Staithes, with its cobbled streets and back alleys, is something of an artist’s dream. Its pretty houses and cottages are clustered around the old harbour and surrounded by high craggy cliffs on three sides, with a sheltered sandy beach set amongst the rocky coastline. The village can claim connections with Captain Cook who was apprenticed to a draper near the harbour. Nowadays, Staithes is a must for anyone visiting the Yorkshire Coast and has a good selection of pubs, shops and tea rooms. Staithes is still home to an RNLI lifeboat station and a small fleet of cobles (fishing boats) landing fish, crab and lobster, with boat trips for birdwatching, fishing and even whale watching available. It’s also the location of the popular BBC children’s TV series, Old Jack’s Boat. Staithes has a strong attraction for artists, with an annual Art and Heritage Festival, galleries and artists studios with art courses and workshops regularly on offer. There’s a free Illusion Trail, which guides visitors around the network of ginnels (alleyways), with trail guides available locally. The best views of the town can be enjoyed from the Cleveland Way which runs down the cliff to the sea’s edge. Altogether a superb base for exploring the Yorkshire Coast, visiting the larger resorts of Whitby or Scarborough and enjoying the moorland villages of the North York Moors National Park.
