  • "Excellent flat, well located in Loftus with bus stops, an excellent bakers and the local Co-op within easy walking distance."

    Nice high ceilings, well equipped kitchen, comfortable lounge and bedrooms. Both bathrooms were very clean. It is well worth using the bus to get into Whitby as even on a wet March day it was very crowded. We would recommend Trenchers in Whitby for a meal but be prepared to queue. Would also recommend Cod Roe fishmongers in Whitby for fresh fish. Never did find a real ale pub but apart from that loved the area and the friendliness of the local people.

  • "A lovely stay at Flat 3."

    The flat was exactly like the pictures, nice and spacious and with enough room for the 5 of us to sit comfortably on the large sofa. When we arrived the flat was clean and tidy, there were complimentary chocolates and we felt at home. The free parking nearby was very convenient and it was nice and peaceful during our stay, with no noisy traffic or neighbours. Would highly recommend Flat 3 to a group of friends like us or a family looking for a relaxing get away.

    The flat was perfectly kitted out for all needs. Plenty of crockery and glasses etc. Comfy beds, lots of space. Lovely welcome of milk, wine, chocs even some fresh flowers. The entrance to the building was a little underwhelming but the flat does not disappoint.

    Large table to accommodate 6 people and bedrooms and bathrooms spacious too. Milk wine and chocolates on arrival was a nice touch and information pack was handy regarding buses and some local places to eat. All in all a very good place to use as a base when visiting surrounding villages and Whitby etc.

    Lots of little extras left for us. Mary was very helpful and had left us an itinerary which was appreciated. The buses were really good and right outside the apartment. We left the car outside the apartment on a night after 6pm until 8am the next morning, then just took it to the car park through the day. Lovely mid week break. Thank you Mary.

  • "What a pleasure to find such an absolute gem!"

    The property was immaculate and included every conceivable comfort - everything had been thought of to make our stay relaxing, including welcome wine and chocolates! The flat was right next to a Co-op and had parking outside; there are several pubs within walking distance, and several places that serve food within a short drive (as well as a great takeaway across the road). The bus service is brilliant: there are regular buses to Whitby and Middlesbrough running late enough to stay out until "last orders". They service most of the local towns and villages on the way - and the stop is right outside the flat! Everything was so good, we will definitely be going back - thank you!

  • "Flat 3 was easily accessible from the street with temporary parking outside."

    Flat would not be suitable for people unable to climb stairs as this is the only way in. Access was made simple with key safe for keys to flat. Flat is very spacious with great layout to suit all groups Sufficient equipment to cater easily for 6 people. Ensuite to main bedroom was spacious as was 2nd bathroom. Would definitely recommend and would return should we ever decide to stay in the area again.

    The lovely welcome pack was much appreciated and the location suited us perfectly for the walking we had planned that week. If we were to suggest an improvement, it would be an info pack on how some of the appliances work and what facilities are good in the local area, pubs eateries etc. Would stay again.

    The contents of the flat are of better quality than I expected for a property let to holidaymakers. Parking is nearby and plentiful but for anyone with mobility issues the lack of a dedicated parking space outside the flat is a bit of a drawback. Nonetheless, the accommodation in no way disappointed and is well situated for visiting the area.

  • "The flat offers plenty of space for a party of 6 people."

    It is nicely refurbished, clean and tidy, and felt very comfortable. Secondary glazing means there is no noise from outside and big windows allow plenty of light in. There is easy car parking just nearby whilst there are great walks to the coast from the flat itself. It is really handy to have a good co-op store virtually next door and the bus to Whitby leaves from just over the road. The whole setup was perfect for us.

LOFTUS

Saltburn-by-the-Sea 4 miles; Hinderwell 6 miles; Whitby 14 miles.

The village of Loftus lies 14 miles north of Whitby on the east coast of Yorkshire. Originally an old alum mining village, it comprises terraced houses, old stone cottages and a few grand stone dwellings. The long and lively main street hosts a variety of shops, eateries, pubs, banks and an impressive town hall. Lying behind the main street is a leisure centre with an excellent swimming pool. Loftus is well placed for discovering the small coastal villages of Runswick Bay and Staithes, the latter being a popular choice for artists. Four miles to the north is the elegant spa town of Saltburn with its golf club and long pier stretching over the wide sands. The stunning North Yorkshire Moors countryside is on the doorstep and the Jurassic fossil coast lies to the south.
