  • "Clean property, good location to visit coast and moors."

WiFi intermittent at best so not ideal if you rely on it. Personal preference beds too soft. Parking over road fine day to day but awkward for loading and unloading on arrival and departure. Felt uncomfortable knowing our comings and going’s were being monitored by a third party.

Thank you for your feedback on the property being clean as this is incredibly important, especially in these current times. We are also pleased that you found the property to be in a good location to visit both the coast and moors. With regard to the beds, we did see your note that all beds had been slept in. It is a personal preference and that is why we have a difference in firmness in the two rooms. We will be replacing the double mattress for next Season as we do on a regular basis. We have never had anyone complain about the Wifi in the past. We did, however, visit our Cottage after your stay as our heating was not working. We were informed by Hive this was due to the modem being disconnected. We do ask that guests do not tamper with cables during their stay, as it is not fair to leave the property with problems for new guests arriving. If there is an issue during your stay, all the contact information is in the guest file. With regard to being monitored that was not the case, our housekeeper is a Neighbour and had been helping us out for a few weeks until the end of our Season. She contacted us to inform us, that she had been aware of more occupants in the property, and also that there was an additional vehicle parked in our private parking area and wanted to check that we knew. As you are aware, Sykes contacted yourselves to find out if more guests were staying at the property as the booking was only for two people. Any additional occupants than we are aware of in the booking causes issues with insurance and can make it invalid and therefore, impacting on the safety of our guests. On the feedback we had following your conversation with the Sykes representative we are glad you had an amazing time. Property Owner

  • "We had a very enjoyable stay in this lovely cottage."

It was spotlessly clean on arrival and had everything we needed for a comfortable holiday. Easy parking across the road and a short walk to the local shops made things very convenient, and it was a short drive to other nearby towns and villages. We also made use of the excellent bus service to and from Whitby. A thoroughly enjoyable stay.

Thank you for your lovely comments. We are glad you enjoyed your stay and you found everything you needed during your holiday. Thank you for choosing Stoney Cottage, we would love to welcome you back sometime in the future. Property Owner

  • "The cottage is very clean and all the rooms are very neatly modern to todays standards of today's living ."

Very clean all over the only thing what was not made clear was how far too walk to the cottage to where you park the car as you can,not go straight over the road as you have a drop down and a grass bank up to the other side

We are pleased you found our cottage to be very clean as it is very important and especially so currently with the pandemic. We work very hard to provide our guests with a clean and safe environment as do our cleaners. We strive to give our guests the best experience possible. We invest, update and maintain our cottage throughout the year, to provide a high standard and to create a comfortable and enjoyable stay. With regard to the parking for our cottage being situated over the road, some guests do come over the bank or come down the step in the bank. However, to walk from the car parking to the cottage takes a mere 2 minutes which does not appear to be a problem for the majority of our guests. Our guests also park briefly in the access road at the side of the cottage adjacent to us, or some guests do pull up outside to quickly load or unload. However, something that is very clear is the checking in time for the cottage which we were informed that you dismissed . As you entered over 2 hours before and therefore breached your contract. The checking in time is there for a reason, to enable our cleaners to undertake their job, and for it to be checked for the guests arrival. Property Owner

  • "As soon as we walked into the cottage we felt at home."

Very well appointed in a beautiful location, spotlessley clean. The welcome pack was a lovely surprise. The bistro set to use outside was very well used sitting in the sun to have our morning coffee and again in the evening for a welcome gin and tonic. We fell in love with this immaculate cottage and would highly recommend to anyone wishing to visit this location

  • "I have never been disappointed with the facilities at a sykes cottage yet, but this one was beyond expectation."

About the only thing they did not provide were kitchen scales.....not that I was looking for any! It was not the owners faulty that the nearby TV transmitter went up in flames so no TV signal....actually I may just tell my family this so they unplug in the future :-). However, they made sure there was a working DVD player available and brand new, sealed games for us to entertain ourselves. What a host! Absolutely spotless and pristine cottage.

  • "A lovely clean well equipped cottage with all the home comforts for a great holiday."

Well situated for all the local attractions of the beautiful county of North Yorkshire. The only downside is no garden to sit out in and car parking away from the cottage on a steep incline, you cannot park outside of the cottage. This makes unloading and loading luggage etc difficult, especially for those with mobility issues but fine for the able bodied.

  • "Stoney Cottage was exceptional."

Good quality furnishings and appliances, very comfortable and clean. Great base for exploring the lovely North Yorkshire coastline of Saltburn-by-the-Sea, Staithes and Whitby. Would have no hesitation in recommending Stoney Cottage, a credit to the owners.

  • "Parking is literally opposite the cottage however, there is a Beck that runs below so you have to turn onto the lane after the cottage turning to park."

There are 2 spaces on an incline so need to leave the car in gear. And, it means you cannot drop off outside the cottage for unloading/loading. There is no garden or yard at all to sit out in. However, the cottage is absolutely delightful, beautifully furnished, pristinely clean, extremely well equipped and very comfortable. There is a large Co op, Bakers, Tea room, Take away's, Gift shop, an amazing DIY & bus stops within 2/3 mins walk from the cottage in a very quiet back water. There are also lovely walks you can take from the cottage which join the Cleveland Way that follow the beautiful coastline in either direction, as well as several local walks. So glad we stayed in Loftus as the other lovely seaside spots ie: Staithes, Saltburn on Sea, etc, were extremely noisy & very busy even out of school holidays.

Really well and tastefully furnished, instantly feeling very at home. The cottage was spotless and extremely clean. Beautifully decorated. Roomy kitchen diner, lounge, bathroom and master bedroom. Lovely welcome gift left in the kitchen. The only issue for us was the car parked across the road. I have mobility issues which meant accessing the car was quite a walk. There are several take-aways and a late opening convenience store within easy reach. I would thoroughly recommend this cottage.

good location to adventure out from and explore the area we went to Beamish, Durham and goathland along with the local coastline, Saltburn-by-the-Sea is lovely. we recommend The Willow cake shop in Loftus village, the tiger inn a short drive away and the seaview restaurant in Saltburn. The cottage had everything we needed, the jigsaws were a welcome relaxation on an evening and the welcome box was appreciated.

  • "We really loved staying at this cottage."

Beautifully decorated throughout, with a spacious lounge, great kitchen-diner with fridge, freezer, dishwasher, cooker and hob, and a table with four chairs. Two large bedrooms upstairs, and a bathroom with bath and shower. Parking is just over the way beyond a small beck. The hamper on arrival, with bottle of wine and biscuits was a lovely surprise. Round the corner, no more than 2 minutes walk, is a well stocked Co-op, and across the road from that the Stonehouse Bakery where you can eat in or takeaway... lovely food (they do a delicious breakfast). The cottage is in a brilliant location that enables easy access to the likes of Staithes, Saltburn-by-the-sea, Sansend, Whitby, Harrogate, Scarborough and Knaresborough. Indeed, you can park up for £6 all day at Sansend and walk into Whitby along the Cleveland Way. There are pubs locally in Easington (the Tiger Inn) and Saltburn-by-the-Sea (the Cod and Lobster) that we can happily recommend if you're looking to eat out. We will definitely be looking to return soon.

The cottage is minutes walk from a well stocked supermarket and is on the bus route to many local attractions. The cottage is clearly loved by the owners and we had a wonderful time there.
