  • "We had a lovely stay it really was a home away from home."

    Fabulously clean even little details like sharp knives and everything working!. Location was also great. The only thing to have made it truly 5 star would have been a king size bed in the master room but that was a minor thing. Also some more large glasses needed but again very minor and didn’t detract from what was a lovely week away.

  • "Ellerton is marketed and priced at the premium end of the market."

    In its current condition it is over priced but with the right investment and attention I believe the rates could be justified. At it's current price/condition I will not be returning however an improvement in either would make me reconsider. The property is located a short 1 minute walk from the beach and the excellent Sands End Cafe - the location could not be better. The property would benefit from off street parking, this could easily be achieved by converting the small front garden. During busy summer holidays it can be difficult to park the car - We regularly had to drive round, sometimes for up to 30 minutes, waiting for a parking space. The alternative is to use the parking meters on the A174 or the pay and display carpark. The rear garden is a nice space to have (and is what initially attracted us to the property). It would benefit from a little gardening to make the most of it. The patio area is a pleasant place to sit and to eat if the weather permits but the foot-high weeds growing between the patio slabs spoil the experience a little. A BBQ was provided however it was filthy dirty and the handle to the lid was broken. The property is of adequate size for a family of 4. Sleeping 6 would be a squeeze as the upstairs accommodation is limited by a single on-suite bathroom. There is a second bathroom on the ground floor which is useful when returning from a day at the beach. The on-suite bathroom is very spacious but curiously does not contain a WC - an odd decision. The property would benefit from a deep clean. The kitchen cupboards were dirty and plates/crockery had been put away soiled. The corners of each room were dusty and covered in cobwebs. On arrival the upstairs shower drain was blocked and smelled. Bed linen and towels were clean but stained and frayed. The property was very neutral in decoration. Furniture was of good quality and comfortable. Decoration was clean and felt reasonably recent. The mood would be lifted by a few pictures to give the house a lived in feel/welcoming feel. There is a slow leak in the radiator in the hall way which needs attention. The flooring beneath is starting to stain. Other things worth noting include: - The freezer needs defrosting, the bottom draw is iced shut. - The Clothes Horse is broken and needs replacing. - The TV's are old and would benefit from being replaced. - There were a number of windows that were painted shut, something that should be remedied as a matter of urgency. Maybe the above issues might be considered by some as nit picking, and I would not necessarily have raised some of them if we had paid a lower rental charge. But for me, they prevented Ellerton from feeling like the premium property I was being charged for.

  • "Perfect house for our stay (3 adults and a 5 year old) Short walk to seafront and cafes."

    Very clean house and very child safe. Lovely enclosed garden. We only wished we could stay longer.

  • "Front door chubb key was bent, you could only open from one side, needs replacing, several lightbulbs were out in front room and stairs, its no good having lovely light fittings if only half are working."

    The large oven did not work and the small oven hasn't been cleaned for some time, as this is a long job, as anyone knows who has cleaned an oven, it should be the owners responsibility to clean it, the hired cleaners do not have enough time to do this type of job. As each County Council have different rules the emptying of recycle waste should be made clearer, I rolled the bin out on Tuesday not having used it since we came, only to have it not emptied, as someone had put a plastic bag full of recyclables in which the council would not take, this meant I had to collect my own rubbish and take it home with me. Finally there is a little hole in the upstairs front bedroom left hand side window, it was there when we arrived and needs looking at. These are only constructive criticisms, as the house was lovely and comfortable, perfectly safe gardens for our 2 year old grandchild to play both back and front, and perfect position to the sea, plenty of room for two families not to get under each others feet.

  • "We had a lovely time."

    The cottage was very nice. Clean and comfortable and toddler friendly which was important for us being our first family holiday with our nearly 2 year old son - he loved it! Brilliant location very close to the amazing beach. Only issue was that we couldn’t get the tv to work in the living room - no signal and we noted the advice in the guest book. we couldn’t locate the heating thermostat either. Not really major issues but we had some rainy periods so a working tv in the living room would have been nice. Overall a really lovely holiday.
