"We really enjoyed our holiday at Mead House, the property is fabulous and was situated perfectly for the holiday we chose."
The sofa and bed was comfy, the bath was heaven after a long day walking. We used public transport each day for day trips, the station was about 10 minutes walk from the property. We visited Durham, Saltburn, Edinburgh, Newcastle and York by train, the public transport links were good. Really enjoyed our holiday and would definitely recommend Mead House as a base for a holiday.
"Firstly, super nice host."
So accommodating for us being on motorbikes. Second, wow what a pad! I could happily live there forever. Highest recommendation for this place and we'd love to revisit at the height of summer once again. Thanks for having us :)
"Really enjoyed our stay at Mead House, a true home from home."
The log burner is a brilliant feature especially on chilly evenings. The house is spotlessly clean with lovely bright and airy rooms. It’s in a very quiet and convenient location, close to local and national transport links, great for eating out and visiting cultural sights across the region, and the Moors, the Dales and the sea. Communication from the owners David and Carol was great, they were really helpful too. Thank you
"Lovely house with everything we needed and easy transport links."
"I would thoroughly recommend Mead House as a holiday home, the owners have a lovely home, very clean, tidy spacious."
It really made our holiday to have stayed in such a fantastic house.
"The property was extremely clean and was ideally situated for exploring the area."
"Excellent holiday property in a good location."
Easy to find, near the centre of Darlington. Plenty of shops around to stock up with. Lovely lounge area with a huge TV and a very fully equipped kitchen. The bedrooms are both good sizes with plenty of storage. Only recommendation would be to get proper curtains as the paper blinds built into the windows are next to useless during the early summer mornings. Also, for personal preference the beds were way too soft, but that is our preference and not something to mark the property down on. The owners were great with information before our stay and returned our deposit very quickly at the end. Would recommend and will use again if ever in the area.
"Very good position within easy reach of town and local shops."
Quiet area just off main road but handy for buses. Great base to see and explore the surrounding area. House has plenty of room and storage.
"Fantastic house with every amenity you would need , immaculately clean and presented would definitely stay there if in the area again!"
"Really enjoyed our stay at Mead House , the property is beautifully done out with high gloss tiles and oak which adds to the luxurious feel of the property which is over 3 floors its very spacious ,it was very clean and the owners were on hand if we needed them , nothing was a problem !"
from the moment we stepped inside we saw the effort that the owners had gone to to keep their holidaymakers very safe during covid-19 We will definitely book Mead house again .
"Lovely and well presented house ideal for our Xmas shopping trip."
Excellent jumping off point for Newcastle, Leeds and York.
"Before I start I want to point out that we've stayed in a number of cottages over the years that we've booked through Sykes, but Mead House has got to be one of the best yet!"
The house was spotless on our arrival with fresh Tea, Coffee, milk & biscuits provided by the owners, nice thought. We found the fixtures & fittings all to be of good quality with the furniture and bedding all very comfortable with the extra large double giving a good nights sleep. The open plan layout was surprisingly cosy and relaxing with the benefit of the washing machine being downstairs we were able to eat or watch TV without the noise disturbing us. As a base for exploring the local area we were able to visit Middlsborough, Durham, Whitby, Gateshead & the wonderful Beamish Museum as all are within an easy drive. As a side note if you are planning a visit to Beamish do so at the weekend as they are usually "themed", with our visit was based on past transport. Overall highly recommended if you are able to manage the layout of the house over 3 floors.
"Clean comfortable accommodation, safe and secure, close to town centre and train station for ease of exploration of nearby cities of Durham and Newcastle etc."
Spotless, well equipt property, way beyond our expectations. Housekeping deposit refunded in full within 6 hours of departure.
