  • "We found using the Sykes Holiday Cottage very easy to use, it was full of information on the Cottage, the pictures were accurate, except I don't recall seeing anything about the spiral staircase which was tight, although we didn't find it a problem, just rather awkward."

That said the cottage was very comfortable, super beds, excellent facilities. Spotlessly clean. There were no written instructions, on the heating controls etc, or on leaving the cottage, so we followed to the best of our ability the email, request from Sykes. We loved the cottage and would seek to return.

  • "Lovely little cottage in fabulous location."

Very comfortable and well presented. Very dog friendly. Only slight minus for us was the very soft bed.

  • "We loved this quirky cottage and the area around, which was so beautiful."

We were privileged to attend the Gooseberry Show and were adopted by one gooseberry enthusiast who taught us alot about gooseberries. Great walks and such a brilliant area to explore. The Postgate Inn is well worth a visit- serving delicious fish chowder. Excellent all round. There is plenty more of the area to explore, so I'm sure we'll be back!

  • "We had a lovely stay at St Heddas Cottage."

Perfect location to get to Whitby, Scarborough and Robin Hoods Bay. Would of been good if we had a welcome book on how to use the cottage facilities. There was confusion on recycling bins when bin men came because of wrong rubbish in bin from previous weeks!

  • "Everything about the cottage was lovely."

I would definitely recommend it. The best bit was the double bed. It is the most comfortable bed we have ever slept in. Please would it be possible to ask where you purchased the duvet and bedding from and what make are they. Thankyou.

About the location

Whitby 5 miles.

The pretty village of Grosmont sits at the junction of the River Esk and Murk Esk in the midst of striking North Yorkshire Moors scenery. The area is characterised by its narrow roads, steep hills and scenic views over valleys of patchwork fields and wide-open expanses of moorland. Grosmont itself lies in the ‘Heartbeat Country’ and is famous for being the home of the North York Moors Steam Railway. The Railway has been preserved and run by enthusiasts since 1973 and today carries upwards of 300,000 passengers a year. The village has a general store, post office, book shop, art gallery, cafes and a pub. It makes a great base for exploring the many pretty farming villages along the Esk Valley and the wider North York Moors National Park, as well as the North Yorkshire Coastline with characterful harbour towns and villages.
