  • "This is a lovely holiday home, everything you need is there, it was lovely and homely, very comfy bed and very well equipped."

The hot tub was just the right temperature and a very welcome addition at the end of a day out or simply to sit back and relax in complete seclusion. Emma and Darren are on site for anything you need but not intrusive, you can walk down to the lake and meet the geese and ducks. It’s a great base for bird watching with lots of nature reserves within a 45 minutes radius.

  • "An amazing stay was had a willow lodge ."

Willow lodge was well equipped with everything we needed for an enjoyable stay. The hot tub was glorious, surrounded by bushes for privacy so you could sit back and relax knowing you are not being overlooked, as was the garden, although it was too cold for us to spend time in it. In the lodge there is a large selection of books/cds/dvds/ which you can enjoy in front of a very homely wood burning fire to keep you toasty warm on a winters day. We would definitely recommend willow lodge and hope to return here in the future.

Lovely welcome pack on arrival and Emma very quick to respond to a text query. The hot tub sealed the deal and ensured we were totally relaxed. Weather was a bit rough over the week but it didn't ruin our break. Lovely friendly cafe locally (West End Cafe) with such a friendly owner who made a huge fuss of our dog (who incidentally preferred the dog bed provided in the lodge to his own!). Would love to come back and make proper use of the large garden in warmer weather. Thank you Emma for ensuring we had a lovely Xmas! Happy New Year to you!

The Lounge certainly has a wow factor and was very comfy and cosy with the log burner. The bed was amazingly comfy. As an animal lover it was beautiful seeing the horses out every morning. The hot tub was an added bonus as never used one before and it was very relaxing. We chose location as found it very central to places we wanted to visit. Thank you Emma for the wine and cake, lovely gesture! Also a pint of milk in the Fridge. Little cafe in the village is worth a visit, staff are lovely and welcoming, as too is Emma who we met, couldn't be any more helpful. Thank you for everything Emma and have a great Christmas and New Year !! x

It was well stocked with all the necessities great open fire and hot tub . All our party including our pet dachshund left fully chilled considering the horrendous weather conditions we encountered throughout our stay.So to have a great time under these circumstances is a testament to the owners and cottage available to let.

Thankyou so much for your lovely feedback. It relieves me that you still managed to enjoy and relax despite the dreadful weather you encountered. Its a good excuse to curl up with the log burner roaring away, to which it sounds as if you did just that. Thankyou once again. Property Owner

The kitchen had everything you could need and provided lots of extras you would have been expected to bring with you. Lots of books , dvds to watch and games and toys also. A beautiful relaxing lodge, lovely decor with some quirky art work which we loved. A lovely little walk to the fishing lake down the track, lots of places to sit and watch the ducks. A 15 minute easy walk to a local shop and a little stroll to wonderful cafe with a garden center opposite. Highly recommend thus property. The owners are on hand if you need them, we met Emma who is lovely. We would definitely return. 10 out of 10.

Lovely to see you gave us a 10! Thankyou. You have covered not only the lodge but the local area too. • "We enjoyed our stay at Willow lodge."

The property was well appointed and maintained. The addition of all the garden games was brilliant and the kids enjoyed the Wii. We all used the hot tub and it was a great edition. The upstairs bedroom was comfortable but very low ceilings (lower than we expected) and even my 8 year old hit his head a few times. The fishing spot was pretty and very easy to access - we appreciated the owners proactive approach to organise a fishing spot and the loan of the camping chair. The Main Street of South Cave was a little further to walk than perhaps we had expected but the pub was great. Thanks.

So pleased you enjoyed your stay and your husband enjoyed his fishing, however I am sorry to hear you were disappointed with the low ceilings in the mezzanine bedroom it does state on the property description that the mezzanine bedroom has low ceilings, some children from previous feedback see the bedroom as an adventure. The walk to the main village where the pubs are located it usually takes 25 minutes at a leisurely stroll. However, I'm glad you and your family enjoyed your stay with us. Property Owner

Good location affording access to York, the Wolds and the coast. Many good pubs in surrounding villages with excellent beer and food. Bed too soft for our taste and would have preffered a shower in ensuite rather than a bath but all together a great place for a short break.

I'm so sorry you found the bed too soft, alot of thought went into the new bed, we listened to previous guests and alot of them wanted a soft not too hard a mattress, so we went along with the soft. There is a wetroom in the property with a rainfall shower not far from the main bedroom, the ensuite does have a handshower over the freestanding claw bath, alot of thought went into the property when we designed it, and we felt the design was perfect for a family or couple. I apologise you found it not to your liking. The place was spotless on arrival and we were treated to a welcome package that was gratefully received, they even considered our dog and left treats for him as well. The place really is a home from home with everything you could think of being catered for - from a glorious hot tub (which we took full advantage of) right down to a sewing kit! You don't need to bring anything, except yourselves. Even our dog was looked after, with bowls and a large comfy bed with soft blankets that he collapsed into each evening after we returned from our day's exploring. The photos do not do the place justice - it really is huge, both inside the Lodge and outside in the garden. Anyone with a pet will welcome the huge garden that was completely secure. The garden is so big you can soak up the sun all day long and even enjoy the gas BBQ if you have a mind to. Our hosts Emma and Darren have clearly spent so much time and thought in making the Lodge the perfect place to relax on holiday, for the whole family including pets, from its beautiful décor to ensuring that everything you would want and need is available. • "The cottage was perfect for the two of us very clean and well looked after."

The only thing I would say the front door could do with either frosted glass or a blind because when you come out the bathroom (wet room) it's next to the front door.. And you could see everything

Superbly finished with all amenities, a large private garden area with sheltered hot tub and looking out onto a paddock with horses and the occasional rabbits. Could not fault this at all and thouroughly enjoyed the week here. Highly recommended.

  • "Willow lodge was so beautiful, the pictures didn't do it justice!"

The garden was so spacious and it was in such a peaceful setting. The house itself was stunning and it had everything you would need. The owners were lovely and ensured we didn't want for anything. They added a few personal touches to make the stay that bit better. It's a perfect little getaway from a busy lifestyle, we didn't want to leave!

  • "Very nice cottage, you can tell a lot of effort has been put into it and it's lovely and clean, also the owners are very nice and friendly."

I would definitely come back! my only critiques are the 2nd bedroom is specifically designed for 2 children, so whoever gets the spare room isn't going to have the best sleep in the world, also the toilet is near the front door so if your in the spare room and need the toilet you have to go down the stairs and through the living room, kitchen and porchway so its a bit inconvenient. I think if we hadn't of had the master bedroom me and my partner would not have enjoyed it as much. overall for 4 adults id give it a 7.5/10 for 2 adults 2 children id say 9/10

  • "Beautiful cottage with real wow factor as you walk through the kitchen door."

Everything has been thought of with lots of lovely touches. We loved the hot tub of an evening to relax, just looking down over the spacious garden and patio, excellent if you had children. We spent a lovely few hours sitting down by the fishing lake, watching the Swans and Rabbits with the Geese marching around like something from Beatrix Potter! Ideal location for exploring this part of Yorkshire, Spurn Head, Beverley, the Wolds and Hull.

  • "We had an amazing stay at Willow Lodge!"

What a great place. Lovely setting, great hot tub and gorgeous, big, enclosed garden which was brilliant for our 2 and 5 year olds. They loved kicking a ball around, playing in the tree house and generally messing about. Emma had thought of everything (we packed heavy with toys but really didn't need to - there were books, lego, computer games, footballs etc). We were lucky to have gorgeous weather, but I can imagine it'd be great to stay in winter too - the lodge is so cosy and although we didn't use it, there is a fabulous log fire and our 5 year old was very excited to sleep on the mezzanine which was really cosy too. The welcome pack was brilliant, with milk in the fridge too and plenty of tea and coffee (there's a big supermarket about ten minutes drive away). There was also a birthday card and present for our (now) 2 year old which was lovely and much appreciated. Although I've focussed on the family experience, we'd happily stay here just as a couple. We will definitely be back!

  • "I booked the Willow Lodge as a birthday getaway for my girlfriend."

We both work very long hours and this was definitely something that we both needed. On arrival we could see that the place was very nicely kept, and inside as well as outside was spotless. The spacing of the place vastly exceeded our expectations, and even though the place was so big it felt extremely cosy. We spent most of the time either in a hot tub or by the fireplace just relaxing and forgetting about all the worry's that did not matter at the moment. If you look for a quiet getaway, this is definitely a spot I would suggest for anyone. It won't be too long until we are back to recharge our batteries and have some peace and quiet from the rushed world around us. My most sincere gratitude to owners of the place for going that little extra mile and leaving a chocolate with a happy birthday wish on it - it didn't go unnoticed.

  • "The lodge was lovely, very comfortable and clean."

The owners had thought of everything to make our stay very pleasant. They had left toys for our boy, plenty of day out ideas/leaflets, wood for the log burner, welcome goodies for us all including myself for my birthday. I had only told Kirsty (the operator) once on the phone so that was nice that she had obviously passed on this information and attention to detail was made at the property. The hot tub was all ready prior to our visit the very same day. Even our sons mattress in the travel cot was comfortable. We had a very pleasant stay and experience using Sykes cottages for the first time. We’ll definitely visit the lodge again and be using Sykes cottages. Thank you both very much.
